@TinkerbellefromYorkshire - sorry you're feeling like that. 🌹 I hope that the psychiatrist can help.

Maireas · 13/08/2023 16:44

Ah, "Billy Big Bollox" - good one. He tried to tell me that Russians would always wage war because they had no word for "peace" 🙄
I then taught him the word for peace. Idiot.

AliceOlive · 13/08/2023 16:46

@jeffgoldblum The one I was in yesterday was massive. Two car garage but also at least two fridges, a sink, workshop. But it’s out in the country on a few acres.

Maireas · 13/08/2023 16:46

So...why don't they sit in the acres?

It was hot and there are load of bugs. But I couldn’t really tell you exactly.

It’s also an area where some people have/had a “basement kitchen”. Nice kitchen upstairs, not used, always ready for company. Basement kitchen was were all meals were cooked and most of the time where they ate. So as not to mess up the nice kitchen.

AliceOlive · 13/08/2023 16:50

@TinkerbellefromYorkshire 💐

Maireas · 13/08/2023 16:50

I'd sit in the nice kitchen, but that's just me!
This is all quite strange to me, but different cultures do different things!

Absolutely!! Use the good China. But I think it made sense to them. They scrapped and fought to get those nice things. They took meticulous care of everything they had. Thus, they left of legacy of grandsons that vacuum the hell out of everything and do laundry the minute something is dirty. (We have another load going now!!)

jeffgoldblum · 13/08/2023 16:54

Sounds more exciting than my garage ( or house for that matter!) @AliceOlive !
Some men really think they know it all @Maireas , nothing new there !

@TinkerbellefromYorkshire , we're sending you a communal hug 🤗 and hope you get some rest.

Judellie · 13/08/2023 17:01

I can't really do anything because I have loads of blisters on the sole of my left foot plus athlete's foot and I can barely hobble.
Was forced to spend yesterday on the sofa and it was very frustrating, wordscapes and the games on the coca cola app lose their appeal after a while. I thought about entering some competitions but wondered what the point was if I wasn't able to do anything/go anywhere, if I were lucky enough to win, so I didn't do any.
Today the athlete's foot is better at least and I've had a bath and washed my hair but I still can't really get about easily so back on the sofa!

jeffgoldblum · 13/08/2023 17:05

That sounds crap @Judellie , I dropped an enormous solid wooden hob cover on my foot awhile ago! The worst wasn't the pain it was intermittent boredom! 💐

OP posts:
AliceOlive · 13/08/2023 17:06

@Judellie That sounds so painful. Hope you heal quickly.

Well you all have cheered me up immensely!
Nothing better than like minded ladies having a chat or gossip to set the world to rights x

Oh good! We are going to take the puppy out for a bit. Would love to hear what everyone is having for dinner tonight.

jeffgoldblum · 13/08/2023 17:30

Steak and something ( were low carb!🙄) here @AliceOlive, enjoy your dog walk.

My son is making chicken satays with salad and chips!
Son: do you think there's too many chips here?
Me: no such thing, child of mine.

Judellie · 13/08/2023 17:40

@Maireas I really don't know. Had problems around this time last year under my middle toe on the same foot, got antibiotics for infection, it cleared up and foot problems are back this year!
Not sure if it's just walking generally, or the heat or what
I've tried to wear shoes with cushioned insoles all the time including on our inter railing holiday; we didn't do loads of walking but we did a bit (no hiking or anything like that tho). However, we were back here 19 July so not sure it was that.
It seems last weekend and this past week has really aggravated something tho.
Tried to get an appointment with a podiatrist but first one end of September then found someone else but still end of August. Apparently no NHS podiatry services any more so private in demand.
Thankfully got a GP appointment fairly quickly when I did ring up; they said to keep the podiatry appointment but I should have rang up earlier because I have an infection. Need to keep going back for dressings; can just about drive!
Thankfully I wfh now so I'll still be able to do that at least.
Best wishes to everyone else on this thread fo rgetting sorted too xx

Maireas · 13/08/2023 17:45

Good plan, @Judellie - a podiatrist will sort you out. I see a podiatrist regularly, after having some problems, and it's been great. It's not cheap, but I think it's worth it. As you say, it's terrible not being able to stand and walk etc.

RabbitsRock · 13/08/2023 17:49

DH is making his famous sausage pasta for tea - can’t wait!

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 13/08/2023 18:07

I am absolutely cream crackered. We got back from holiday yesterday, but went swimming before we left, stopped on the way as dh decided a short hike would be good but ended up taking 2 hours with him carrying dd8 for 2km! Today I have been washing and tidying and putting away and throwing out and getting DC ready for first day back at school tomorrow. I thought I'd done everything before we left but then dd told me she needed XYZ. So she is almost ready and I am having half an hour on mn while dh clears up from dinner.

💐for everyone who is having a less than brilliant time.
