Tell Me...What songs do you want at your funeral?

I know, bit morbid.
Tell me your songs (and why if you want cos songs are personal).

Today in my car I heard the song by Train - Drops of Jupiter. I think the lead person Pat wrote it after his mum died. And I thought "ummm could be on my shortlist."

Reasons why asking; I love music, need some inspiration, I always wonder why particular songs chosen when I'm at funeral.
Annoyingly my health running down hill. Treatment for leukaemia is lurking to put me (hopefully) into remission.
I am catastrophising today and thinking what if it all goes crap.
So my focus is on music. I don't want my lovely family picking all the music- it will be horrific! (Light-hearted but honestly urgh).

Time to Move On by Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers.

I like how it’s not sad but hopeful and I think people might be comforted by it. Plus I just love him. RIP Tom 💔

I’m not having a funeral but I think I would choose ‘white horses’ by Jacky. Loved the TV show and the song for most of my life.

DH was at a funeral recently where the coffin was brought in to ‘Ride of the Valkyrie’. It was a young man who had had time to plan his funeral.

I have always said wherever you will go by the calling and landslide by the Dixie chicks.. honestly though I’ve been to a few funerals lately for younger people and it’s just been their favourite songs, rather than overly appropriate ones if that makes sense? A good friend died in an accident and his parents played rhythm is a dancer while a video montage of all his best (and a lot of drunk!) moments played, they asked all of us to contribute. It was beautiful. So I guess on that basis, maybe a Tyler Childers song, Lady May or universal sound. Five Leaf Clover by Luke Combs is up there for sure.

I heard 'It's the same old song' by the Four Tops on the radio the other day and thought I'd like it at my funerall/ cremation. Everyone knows I love dancing so I'd like everyone to dance and sing along while my coffin disappears behind the curtain

And You've Got the Love by Florence and the Machine, was our first dance song. DH is having it too.

I want Good Riddance by Green Day. Whilst, it’s about a break up, I think the lyrics work for a funeral as it’s about moving on. I actually heard it for a first dance at a v fancy wedding once - I wondered if they’d ever actually listened to the words as it felt inappropriate! Needless to say it didn’t last 😃. I went to the funeral of a friends sibling as a teenager and they played Kiss me by sixpence none the richer and it has really stuck with me such a beautiful song.
