...the Brexit vote, given how it has disadvantaged those children without dual nationality?

I'm from NI, so very fortunate that mine still have FOM. I'd be raging if anyone took that away from them.

They're still European citizens.

Being a citizen of the EU actually confers certain EU citizenship rights such as being ably to vote in local / regional / European elections in your EU country of residence or right of consular protection from another EU consulate abroad. Having left the EU, we are now no longer EU citizens. We are citizens of a European country but that’s different.

But your kids can afford to travel on a tour of Europe? They can afford to live in eye watering expensive cities such as Paris, Berlin, Geneva and Milan?
Your working class children are not going to Magaluf for a week post A levels and then on to college? University or jobs? Your working class children have the luxury to coast around Europe for a year or two apparently with the funds to pick up the odd job as they go, with no care for the future. Sure.

Where are you getting this from? Stop making shit up.

Thousands of children homeless in the U.K., people struggling to feed their children, childcare costs through the roof…but yes I worry about Edwin not being able to study in the Dordogne!

Congratulations

You might have written the stupidest post ever.

Those commenting on us still being Europeans are just goading. They know exactly what @HeadNorth meant. Far too much of it on this thread, sadly.

Indeed, though the names being thrown up as part of their disparaging rhetoric did slightly amuse.

Only really affects the middle classes. Not something I'm bothered about. The same people moaning about this will also moan about climate change.

Suppose this is true, would it be ok for us to say bah, working class kids' suffering isn't something I am bothered about. Let the blighters eat cake!

Fully agree. Furious. For good reason , and I don't think it's Brexit tbh ( literally just flown out of there- my taxi ride to Gatwick was 1hr of him ranting. Everyone has full rage)

I don't see all this fury. I was at the Hundred last night at Trent Bridge and everyone was having a great time. No rants or raving.

Been out this morning into my town, very hot day and lots of people mingling and enjoying themselves. It's like it most days with people going about their business.

Of course you do get the occassional gobshite who is angry about anything and everything and they have to let you know about it. Lots of that online these days 😀

There were people who voted Leave to stick it to the MC and the Metropolitan Elite.🙄 The politics of envy played its part in getting people to vote against the interests of their children.

Won't somebody please think of the children.

Some of us are, given it's them who have been monumentally shafted by Brexit.

I'll take a wild guess that you don't care though.

I truly find it so disingenuous that 'WC kids 'are being used to support a narrative that doesn't seem to care/understand what Brexit has taken from the youngest in Britain's society.

It is also laughable that working class kids didn't benefit from FOM. It is such an indicator of prejudice to suggest otherwise.

Brexit and Tories.

Louloulouenna · 10/08/2023 18:13

Ummm food price inflation in EU countries hit 17% in April 2023.

That too.

It is so surprising that 7 years on we keep needing to say the same thing.

'Project' fear will be written about in all the history books our grand kids will read about this twisted, toxic period in Britain's political history.

How the brainwashed and gaslit followed blindly, Murdochs press....

Project Fear was the name given to the campaign led by the Tory government to remain in the UK. I presume you don’t think Times readers are stupid, only Sun readers. With a circulation of over just over a million, that’s quite an achievement.

It is 'staggeringly'.

Look @Remembermynamealways, you are all over several posts' spewing your Britain First bilge. You claim to be leaving if Labour get into power. May I be the first wish you well on your travels.

You know they way you read the details of my kid being offered an apprenticeship that would need applicants to be able to go to Germany for training and turned it into me being wealthy enough for him to do The Grand Tour? You've obviously done a similar bit of mental gymnastics if you think that people who voted Leave did it because they love this country and are not plotting to leave.

Did you not recently say you were planning, not plotting, to leave this country if Labour win the next GE? Or am I mixing you up with someone else @Remembermynamealways?

Not as furious as the WC who had to compete with EU migrants for housing, jobs and education and healthcare.
I don't think they really care that your son Barnaby can't live at your chateaux during his gap year in France.

Oh yeah? Is all this better now then is it? NHS waiting lists 7 months, can't see a gp. That's correct, EU nurses and Drs went home! Oopps! I wonder where the extra NHS money that was promised went. Nigel and Jacobs companies I suppose...

Housing. Well I can't find a builder right now, remaining holy British builders are the worst crooks charging you through the nose leaving jobs half done. I bet many voted for the decent builders to be gone.

Education. Well my nursery is costing double what it was in 2016. Spanish keyworker left, nursery can't find people nor money from toxic tories, it might close anyway. Don't get me started on schools and unis. You really are deluded if you think brexit did us any favours in any way.
