I’ve just bought a new mop and a new pair of high heels for a wedding. I’m excited about the mop and dreading the heels. Middle age is beckoning. What’s made you feel middle-aged today?

A friend and I are excitedly planning a trip to a local garden centre that has a sale on bedding plants.

This is the same friend who came to stay with me during a university holiday, and while we were planning our assault on the city pubs, my mother said, "You know, girls, one of the really nice things about being middle aged is that you just don't want to get drunk any more...." Obviously we just went NAAAAH at this nonsense in 1987...

The Barbie movie made me cry. I’m having a resurgence of hot flushes, 5 years after periods stopped. I can’t take HRT so that sucks. Coming out of the fore said Barbie movie and everyone was at least 30 years younger.

Trying to use Apple Pay in a coffee shop while not wearing my glasses and hovering my phone round the wrong end of the Apple Pay reader. The young woman at the counter had to patiently point out where to aim my phone. Felt like an old technophobe struggling with newfangled technology 😁

Hey, you can do both! I’m on annual leave, went to a garden centre with DH on Tuesday, and on Thursday met friends for lunch and spent the afternoon drinking margaritas in a pub and reeled home just before closing. I’m 51. (Actually I get far fewer hangovers these days, though probably mostly because I eat and stay hydrated while drinking.)

I’ve just come back from holiday, and the thing I noticed was the sheer amount of stuff I have to pack to get through a day.

HRT patches.
HRT tablets.
Contact lenses.
Two different sorts of glasses.
Citalopram.
Sleep meds.
Bluetooth sleep mask.

Then there’s the stuff I have to take in order to look and feel at least human.

Tweezers.
Probiotic supplement.
Hormone supplement.
Vitamin D.
Retinol handcream.
Sunscreen for face.
Sunscreen for body.
Peppermint capsules.

I used to take a swimsuit and a smile 🙄

We are staying at a french chateau and went to a complimentary on site wine tasting last night. After an hour people were discussing the evenings restaurant choices, but I had to go upstairs first for a cup of tea and a lie down!

I’m in the last week of my 30s and feeling shit about it!

Shoulder pains and my midrift. I've never felt lovely but when I look at old photos of me when I was a twenty-something, I think I was actually ok and could 've been nicer to myself. I feel so much happier and comfortable with myself now though.
