Just saw the not guilty verdict. I haven’t been following it closely but from the bits I have seen, I’m surprised. Was this what was expected?

From what I've read the verdict is correct. He was a victim of people wanting his money.

lovenotwar149 · 26/07/2023 16:39

He's guilty as f*. in my opinion

IncompleteSenten · 26/07/2023 16:42

Some of the charges were dismissed on a legal technicality. That's not the same thing as innocent.

I’m so so surprised by the verdict. It’s pretty well known in TV and theatre that the accusations are not unfounded. I heard at one point young men in the young vic were advised not to let themselves be in a situation where they are alone with him. He was dropped and cancelled so quickly because of the behind the scenes rumours and experiences of other young actors. But it seems like the jury heard something we did not. I wonder what will happen next.

stbrandonsboat · 26/07/2023 16:48

Probably has a good lawyer.

MsFannySqueers · 26/07/2023 16:48

I expected that verdict. I have no idea how Kevin Spacey conducts himself. There was from what I could glean no actual evidence against him other than his accusers claims. No one should be found guilty just on the hearsay of another person, without concrete evidence against them.

Correct verdict

RegentCafe · 26/07/2023 16:51

Didnt expect anything different
he always comes across as a nice guy

lets hope he gets his job back!

Needmorelego · 26/07/2023 16:52

I have been following the case through what BBC News has been reporting.
I think the verdict is correct.
I hope he gets his career back.

HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas · 26/07/2023 16:54

Sad thing is it’s ruined him financially. House of cards fined him £25 million I think. Hope he gets that back. No work since. Legal fees. Had to sell his house.

User16496743 · 26/07/2023 16:54

Yes I hope to see him back on the TV or cinema soon

lovenotwar149 · 26/07/2023 16:55

Damn good actor though!

twelly · 26/07/2023 16:56

I hope that his career get back on track, he was wrongly treated in the media.

AtomicBlondeRose · 26/07/2023 16:56

I vividly remember years ago - I mean it must have been 2003/4 - visiting a friend in London who had a friend who worked at the Old Vic and who said that Spacey had quite a reputation for being “a bit of a tart”, so I can well believe these accusations.

museumum · 26/07/2023 16:56

There's a lot of grey between being a 'good person' and doing something demonstrably and proovably illegal....

TeaMistress · 26/07/2023 16:57

I haven't really been following the trial. I know he must have suffered tremendous damage to his career and reputation. Now he's been acquitted perhaps he can start to rebuild his life and some semblance of a career before he presumably retires.

WingBingo · 26/07/2023 16:57

I’ve actually been exposed to his behaviour.

It was creepy, very creepy. But not illegal.

Needmorelego · 26/07/2023 16:57

@AtomicBlondeRose being “a bit of a tart” isn’t illegal though.

benfoldsfivefan · 26/07/2023 16:58

I’m delighted for him, I’ve been following the case and the claims against him were baloney.

Hopefully his once stellar career his revived soon.

lovenotwar149 · 26/07/2023 16:58

Omg. He does come across as a creepy guy I must say. Damn good actor though!

hattie43 · 26/07/2023 16:59

I'm surprised tbh . I can imagine him being a sleeze but at the end of the day the jury heard the evidence whereas I didn't

AtomicBlondeRose · 26/07/2023 16:59

@Needmorelego - no, but feeling like you’re very sexually desirable, seeking more “conquests”, feeling invincible and powerful - those things go hand in hand and are typical male behaviour. We see it all the time.

If that's not rock solid evidence I don't what is. 🙄

Iamacatslave · 26/07/2023 17:05

Brilliant actor.

MaggieBsBoat · 26/07/2023 17:05

I absolutely support any person‘s right to be a tart.
good grief.
Good luck Sir! I hope suing all those bastards helps recoup some of the loss.
