I loved the XFactor threads. I only used to watch it so I could join in. We’d be laughing away for weeks when, without fail, someone would come along and tell us we were awful which just encouraged us even more.

BOF was the best. She was taken far too soon, as was NormaStanley. I see memories of them pop up on my Facebook feed and it makes me so sad.

Some of the nicknames the contestants were given had me howling. I've just remembered NanFucker! Grin

SemperIdem · 23/07/2023 21:01

I had forgotten I’d ever seen Terry Wogan’s cock until this thread

Oh yes! NanFucker 😂😂😂😂

Too many to mention over the years, but I did like the Rhubarb and Custardo friendship.

Not intended to be unkind, but I also didn’t understand the Cod love either. I used to amuse myself by thinking “here come the Tena Ladies, wetting and falling over themselves to snortle over every one of Cod’s posts”. Quite bizarre.

DawnTigga’s sign-offs used to amuse me, but others sometimes commented unkindly about it.

Also I recall Shine… something to do with a crazy diamond, or something.

The above are just named that came to mind today.

penelopepipsqueak · 23/07/2023 21:05

I was fb friends with shiney for a long time but someone stalked me from here in RL and I came off fb .

EuniceNewtonFoote · 23/07/2023 21:11

MN used to be very funny but too cliquey.
It's bigger now, rarely funny and much meaner. I'm flouncing in September.

thenightsky · 23/07/2023 21:11

I can't remember when I joined, but it must have been around the start. I was panicking because DS was skiving school and was set to fail every GSCE. He is 32 now.

Eupemiaroses · 23/07/2023 21:11

I remember a couple of years ago 90% of mumsnet thread had a comment from Bluntness and she suddenly disappeared about a year back

It sounds like it was a lovely place to be a part of back then. If you all had to recommend any thread for newer members to go back and read, what one would you choose?

Was it AtYourCervix with the YOUR MINGE post? I remember laughing and laughing. I think just, if you've been that tired, you can really imagine doing it; that's why it hits: the horror of recognition.

LittleBearPad · 23/07/2023 21:21

Lots of old and recognisable names. - it’s less funny now and agree there’s less solidarity

CatsSnore · 23/07/2023 21:23

MN is a lot more depressing these days. The light heartedness and fun has disappeared.

RitzyMcFitzy · 23/07/2023 21:26

Definitely less cliquey, but definitely less fun. Agree that the lightheartedness is gone. Posters either snarling from the off, and so much tone policing. Everything seems to be problematic.

ssd · 23/07/2023 21:29

Biscuitsandbandages still upsets me. Her little crumbs will be getting bigger.

CanIseeyour · 23/07/2023 21:32

There were 2 posters who were very similar that I remember I think one was ‘ghost spirit’ and the other ‘hedgehog’ or something similar. Both had lots of children and lots of issues, both seemed a bit lost and in need of support but regularly got a hard time on here . I often wonder if they are still around or if their lives got any easier

madamegazelle1 · 23/07/2023 21:33

I always really admired cogitoergosometimes responses on threads- she was always sensitive and spoke a lot of sense to me. Was sad when she seemed to disappear
