What are your most remembered threads or posters ?

I know this has been done before but I'm bored shitless.

I lurked for years and was too frightened to post, as everyone was so very witty and clever.

I loved Pagwatch, with her beautiful house and how she insisted she only ever wore skirts. She seemed very glamorous.

Loved wonderful Zombie/Candy.

Everyone seemed very sophisticated and posh, but also a lot less unpleasant and aggressive than these days.

ssd · 23/07/2023 21:33

Her posts still stand. I remember reading her first post and her disbelief this was happening to her.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/07/2023 21:34

I lurked for years. I always thought Marmalade and cupcakes were the same person.

lottiejenkins I think is wilfs mum. I loved reading her threads. I think she was around recently but doesn’t update about wilf.

MetaverseMavis · 23/07/2023 21:36

I joined MN in early 2001. It was still a baby. It was fun with very few boards and you got to know posters. It took a massive dip around 2011 and is no longer cosy. I pop in and out - mostly out tbh because I'm utterly convinced it has paid writers to start threads at peak use time to encourage traffic that is neatly wrapped up in a reasonable 24/36hr time frame.

JaneJeffer · 23/07/2023 21:38

So it wasn't all sweetness and light then @Boredasshit Grin

Was it AtYourCervix with the YOUR MINGE post? I remember laughing and laughing. I think just, if you've been that tired, you can really imagine doing it; that's why it hits: the horror of recognition.

No, think it was TSC

I often think this too and these are the threads that often end up in the DM or similar 🧐

Here’s a weird thing.

I got told off by mumsnet towers for suggesting to somebody who was knowingly not washing, and been told by HR that she was smelling at work too “wash your clothes and wash your body”Apparently she was aggressive! Post was deleted
would never have been in 2003

I think we were supposed to head tilt and agonise for ages about why she, with no other problems, simply couldn’t wash herself

hallana · 23/07/2023 21:41

Oh maybe it was TheSecondComing.

I liked pagwatch so much but then wasn't it strange she turned out to be an antivaxer.

FiddleMinger · 23/07/2023 21:04

Too many to mention over the years, but I did like the Rhubarb and Custardo friendship.

Not intended to be unkind, but I also didn’t understand the Cod love either. I used to amuse myself by thinking “here come the Tena Ladies, wetting and falling over themselves to snortle over every one of Cod’s posts”. Quite bizarre.

DawnTigga’s sign-offs used to amuse me, but others sometimes commented unkindly about it.

Also I recall Shine… something to do with a crazy diamond, or something.

The above are just named that came to mind today.

Not so sure that everybody who was entertained by my post had incontinence, but it’s a great idea 🤔well done

Cod · 23/07/2023 21:44

Judge flounce was uncovered by somebody who is now a very high-profile judge (real judge) , at the time she was on maternity leave.

Worked out it must’ve been a man rather than a woman when they gave directions to somewhere in London from tie rack 😁

Cod · 23/07/2023 21:47

I’m on twitter. Come say hi. I found an errant tortoise tonight.

Tilllly · 23/07/2023 21:55

I joined in 2004 and am still friends with some people I met here then
Occasionally wonder if any of them are still on here but never remember to ask!
Then I left for ages and got lured back in by Facebook threads!

thelionthewitchtheaudacityofTHISbitch · 23/07/2023 21:57

Been on here about 17 years when I could no longer stand the you alright hun? Delighted to find somewhere I could swear quite nicely. Just off to see who I have offended this evening! I mostly stick to FWR now or the occasional TV thread. Name change a lot but i do love my current username the best.

ssd · 23/07/2023 22:05

Cod how can you spell now

ThePoshUns · 23/07/2023 22:16

Gosh you all have such good memories. I joined about 20 years ago.
I remember Pag and Xenia who I was slightly ( properly ) scared of!
So many good memories. I made some cock ups here along the way so name changed a few times to protect my dignity, but on the whole have loved the comoradarie and the chance to have a good natter.

Predictive texting I guess. I'm friends with COD on Twitter now. She's rather lovely.

pimplebum · 23/07/2023 22:20

fortnumsfinest · 23/07/2023 22:21

UnquietDad is another who has just sprung to mind

pimplebum · 23/07/2023 22:24

There was one where some poor woman had found a lipstick that wasn't hers in the washing machine and instantly the tread was derailed by strange objects had found in their bodies

The solidarity used to be so nice . That's gone now .

I've been here since 2007 , but it is a very different place now . Im so sick of getting flamed I name change every week .

Absolutely agree. I don't contribute as much also as threads seem to get binned just when they're getting funny.

Motnight · 23/07/2023 22:28

HaroldMeaker · 23/07/2023 20:41

The first thread I read on here was when the OP had found all her kitchen utensils were disappearing and gradually realised her husband was using them to do rude things with them. I was really astonished I have to say.

That I am sure was a joke thread started by the lovely Scummymummy under a name change.

colouringindoors · 23/07/2023 22:31

I remember VicarinaTutu or similar who facilitated a whole serious of "Village" threads in the Mental Health board which were friendly, lovely and supportive with a real mix of old timers and newer mumsnetters.

MadeInChorley · 23/07/2023 22:31

I joined in 2005. I originally joined the supportive Conception/Infertility threads. We had many meet ups over the years with some of the long term posters. About six of us have become life long friends - I went to one MN wedding. I’ve changed posting names several times, but I’m fond of this one. It was very funny, supportive and quite waspish - lots of straight talking and no nonsense common sense back then. It’s lost some of the whiplash wit.
