What are your most remembered threads or posters ?

I know this has been done before but I'm bored shitless.

My first encounter with MN was when I was looking for advice regarding my then teenager , Maryz was amazing , so helpful and kind.

TeamsInterview · 23/07/2023 18:59

@ForeverFriendsAndPierrot was Billie's mum MrsDevere ?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 23/07/2023 19:00

ForeverFriendsAndPierrot · 23/07/2023 18:44

Oh, and Billie

I remember her mum telling us about the chapel that was left standing when the hospital was pulled down. Very sad when she died

Can't remember the poster....just Billie

I think it was something like MrsDeVere. She raised money for a bench in Billie’s memory.

I think you got a better class of bullshitter too. Does anyone remember the post a picture of your bedroom thread where one of the posters who was always one upping everyone posted an immaculate room - another poster did an image search and it was nicked from the website of a luxury hotel in Paris.

I've been here for many years now. I wonder how many people there were actively posting back in the day compared to now? It felt as if you could really get to know people, follow the ups and downs in their lives, watch the X factor and comment/laugh as if you were with mates at home. The sad times were awful but I think there was more trust because the site was smaller, people shared addresses so that cards/gifts could be sent, people met up, visited those in hospital.

I know they there were trolls, I have no doubt that some took advantage and took the piss but generally, the experience of being on here was better.

Random789 · 23/07/2023 19:02

Anyone remember AmateurArseDoctor?

She changed her name to that in order to post an embarrassing thread about haemorrhoids self-surgery. But the thread was so popular she embraced her shame and stuck to AmateurArseDoctor evermore.

Beenhereforever1978 · 23/07/2023 19:03

I think the app has changed it a bit, it's now more of a laundry list of people responding only to the original OP or the last 3 things posted. I did used to enjoy the back and forth on longer threads with jokes evolving.

I'm still on the Web version on my phone because I am old and I prefer it! I've never been on a dull thread where jesusinthecabbagevan, neverdropyourmooncup or webuiltthiscityonsausagerolls were on. I'm always pleased when they show up still.

Looking up Google for something to do with a Victoria Sandwich and I eventually strayed on to a thread about someone (can’t for the life of me remember who) who was wanting advice on entering into a cake competition. It turned into a totally hilarious thread. That would be around 2010 or so. I’d never heard of Mumsnet before.

I remember that thread! It was really funny, I only read it once and have never found it since. (Possibly my cack handed search methods tbf.)

I've never before been so gripped by reading about a Victoria sponge.

Can anyone link to it?

Amispringy · 23/07/2023 19:09

I loved scottishmummy

Bamboozles · 23/07/2023 18:45

Where is Worral nowadays?

Around under different names. ☹️

CatsSnore · 23/07/2023 19:14

Usual suspect was my favourite 😍

Billies mum mrs D

I also found LaQueen hilarious

Arts turned out to be a massive troll! I used to wish I could be as organised as her and have her life, it was all bollocks.

Worra was very argumentative and only on AIBU. She obviously loved playing devils advocate but could be quite mean to some posters.

Sparklingbrook and her cat

I've been off and on MN for far too long and wasted so much of my life talking to Internet strangers.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 23/07/2023 19:14

LaQueen was a great poster, as was BupcakesandBunting.

Miss those two plus the others above. There was also a poster around the time of the Referendum whose name is on the tip of my tongue - antagonist, difficult and very opposing views to me but used to get thread roaring along!

My first thread was ‘YOUR BUSH!’ aka ‘I forgot to pack my bikini bottoms!’

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 23/07/2023 19:14

*first thread I remember

Clawdy · 23/07/2023 19:15

Hullygully! Can't remember her friend''s name but the two of them were great, really missed them.

CatsSnore · 23/07/2023 19:16

Getorffmyland and her changing her bedding every day! She'd be slaughtered for admitting that now.

Loved Maryz too.

SquirrelSoShiny · 23/07/2023 18:40

I've had so many names here but I still remember my antenatal threads here. I sometimes think about the people on them and wonder how they all are ❤

Yes!!

I was also on a couple of IVF threads and often think about the women on those.

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 23/07/2023 19:16

Mexican house thief.

hellsangells · 23/07/2023 19:16

Loved Laqueen and Usualsusoect.

Tired Britney Spears GIF

.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 23/07/2023 19:20

CatThiefKeith - I remember how many of us contributed to her Woolly Hugs blankets.

Zombie / Candy who left a wonderful woolly hugs legacy that has led to many women with cancer receiving handmade blankets.

PermanentTemporary · 23/07/2023 19:21

Used to think about aloha, expatinscotland, pruni and harpsichordcarrier a lot.

vipersnest1 · 23/07/2023 19:27

Wasn't Sparklingbrook the poster who ended up with a blue niece?

vipersnest1 · 23/07/2023 19:28

Oh, and the husband eating the fatballs was a great thread, plus Pete from Hull.... is shall say no more about that one!

HorribleHisTories15 · 23/07/2023 19:32

VladmirsPoutine and EatSh!tDerek

They both had a brain in full power

Ragwort too

Harrythehappypig · 23/07/2023 19:32

Pagwatch and her kitchen stairs. She always had something interesting to say.

I also loved scottishmummy. She seemed to bring out strong emotions in people but I thought she was great.
