What are your most remembered threads or posters ?

I know this has been done before but I'm bored shitless.

Cod was a sahm when her boys were younger I am sure.

That would make sense!

SophiaElizabethGrace · 26/07/2023 23:31

There was a lovely MNer who would post threads with titles such as 'I locked my toddler in his room today for seven hours without food/drink because he refused to sit nicely at the table and eat his breakfast'. When you opened the thread up the first post would actually be a reminder to give blood and the importance of blood banks😀

Cod · 27/07/2023 08:29

Lol I am here you know!

yes I was off working having an incredible non sleeping baby. Then I did supply/contracts/part time etc.
now helping plan a wedding for my eldest and working very full time.

you’re very welcome on Twitter 😁

So many of the so called MN old timers that are remembered fondly were bullies the fawning over them was ridiculous

MN has had some very funny posters

I remember Billie 😞

@WhenIWasAFieldMyself yes, for some weird reason, BOF invited TDWP over for a weekend and she got into bed with her and her partner. I was always telling BOF to stop inviting randoms into her home. Gave up in the end 😀

@penelopepipsqueak sorry to hear you were stalked and had to come off Facebook. If you ever return, look me up again and friend me! I don't post on Mumsnet really and tbh I feel embarrassed at what an enormous bellend I was back in the day!

Imdrivinginmygetawaycar · 27/07/2023 09:22

There was a mum who used to post her daughters dancing videos too? And show us her progress. I quite liked that. It felt like you were part of it even though we aren't really.

And Wilfs updates.

One of the funniest things was when an advertising agency called Beta ran an outdoor ad campaign with the headline 'Career women make bad mothers.' Not surprisingly, it didn't go down well on MN.

The whole furore saw the agency founder, Garry Lace, come on to Mumsnet to complain about our posts - it ended up with him even consulting lawyers, because the (tiny) size of his penis came to be part of the posts on here. There were some amazing haikus - all of which (or most of which) MNHQ had to delete, after threats from his lawyers. You couldn't make it up really. Here's the original post: (@Random789 I seem to remember you were part of this too!)

@BIWI lolol. I'd mostly forgotten about the alpha mothers versus beta advertisers'controversy; I'd certainly forgotten that there were deleted haikus.

How funny that the poor dear gentle haiku format was a casualty of conflict. Feels a bit like stamping on a guinea pig.

EmpressaurusOfCats · 27/07/2023 10:56

I remember Beta, that was hilarious.

CurlewKate · 27/07/2023 14:26

I've just remebered-a poster who lived-I think-in Ireland with two boys. The older one was a very talented chess player. I'd love to know what happened to her!

BIWI · 27/07/2023 14:55

I can't remember her MN name, @CurlewKate, but she's on my FB in her real name - she's now a published author.

BIWI · 27/07/2023 15:10

Oh! It's just come to me - KerryMum was her name.

Cod · 27/07/2023 15:47

Oh, she was funny.

I really liked chatting to super Dragon, I know she’s still on here and he can remember that woman in Fife, maybe Dundee who was about to get married and we all thought it was a bad move.

I think she opened the bar in the evenings?

I went to New York at half term and thought a lot about Kate and the girls, remember her h died in 911

Cod · 27/07/2023 15:48

Lol SOUP dragon.

Cod · 27/07/2023 15:49

BIWI. You and I went to at least one of the mumsnet parties didn’t we?

BIWI · 27/07/2023 16:01

We did @Cod! The 10th and the 15th. I seem to remember you were either monopolising or being monopolised by Gordon Brown at the 10th!

JaffavsCookie · 27/07/2023 17:44

Would happily follow a fellow teacher on twitter Cod but just get call of duty stuff on searching 😳

Cod · 27/07/2023 18:01

Poor Gordon. He lost the election shortly after.

Cod · 27/07/2023 18:01

There was an article in DM today about pelvic floor exercises.

There was a pelvic floor physio on MN, wasn't there?
