It is absolutely chucking it down here. Last year we had a heatwave in August, so you never know...

Cyclistmumgrandma · 22/07/2023 09:53

Yep, raining here all weekend and for most of the next week and a half. It's been like this for some weeks now. Time to throw on the waterproofs and get out anyway!

Why is the weather so shit?
tobee · 22/07/2023 09:54

Ah the Mumsnet anti warm weather fetishists!

Been a bit alternate years recently; lovely 2020, really not nice 2021, (too?) hot 2022 and now 2023 too much rain.

Be nice if it perked up a bit and less rain in August and September.

But let's face it, we get the weather we get. We have to deal with it.

It’s pouring here today. I think we’ve had rain at some point in every day the last two weeks. The laundry situation is driving me up the wall.

Yes same here. My house is beginning to resemble a laundrette and I'm fed up of getting wet at some point in the day, taking ages to get dry only to get soaked again.

Those who haven't had what feels like constant rain should think themselves lucky. Our 10 day forecast is currently rain everyday and the highest temperature given is two days of 20°, every other day is lower going down to a miserable 16°.

LlynTegid · 22/07/2023 09:55

Surely it is either Brexit or the last Labour government to blame!!!!

Same here and not just a little shower, it's been torrential downpours then dry, then more torrential rain. The constant rain and grey skies is awful and the unpredictability means you can't really plan for anything, washing, days out, BBQs etc

SpeckledlyHen · 22/07/2023 09:55

Nevergetuy · 22/07/2023 09:46

Low 20's!!! We're lucky to get about 17 degrees ATM it's just awful and I know we're lucky to have rain but honestly, enough!

Where about’s are you? We are very south, 30 mins from coast and it’s been 22, 23 ish most days. Not rained so much either so I guess we’ve been lucky

tobee · 22/07/2023 09:55

Sandsnake · 22/07/2023 09:37

It’s utter rubbish, despite the fact that I live in the south east where we’ve had the best of it. As pps say, it’s not just the weather itself it’s the outdoor events it ruins. If this stupid weather means the Aussies keep the Ashes (as is distinctly possible) then I will be raging!

No, no, no! Don't let it affect the cricket please!! 😫

BlackeyedSusan · 22/07/2023 09:56

W mids hasn't been too bad rain wise. Yes it's been rainy but not continuous. Preferable to heat last year.

Out of interest, which regions have had the rain most frequently?

morelippy · 22/07/2023 09:56

I love how a few days of excessive heat last year meant the whole (lovely) summer was labelled unpleasant, yet WEEKS of cool wet weather this year is ok 🙄

heidihigh · 22/07/2023 09:56

I don't mind the lower temps, it's the rain! So damp and miserable

Tumbleweed101 · 22/07/2023 09:58

It would be nice to have a settled warm spell but last years temps were far too high to work in comfortably so I'm glad for a cooler summer this year. I guess it depends on how easily you can cool down if you enjoy a hot summer.

IClaudine · 22/07/2023 09:58

I'd prefer it to be warmer, but could live with the lower temps if it was drier. So depressing.

cornflakesandtea · 22/07/2023 09:58

Vickythevan63 · 22/07/2023 09:25

It is lovely. I think you’re exaggerating about the rain. It’s hardly never ending.

It obviously depends where you live. I am in Cheshire, currently listening to torrential rain, has been for a couple of hours and predicted most of today and tomorrow.

Last Saturday was torrential thunderstorms on and off most of the day.

I am retired and on dry days I will drive out somewhere to do a long walk with the dog. On wet days, I will do things at home and do the dog walking between the rain. I have had one day out in last 2/3 weeks, there has been virtually no days without at least some rain.

Yes, this. I'm also in Cheshire listening to it pour. The dog wont go out for a wee in the rain and we have had a leak in the roof which was repaired but is making me paranoid and wishing wishing wishing that I could just flip a switch and get it to stop raining.

benfolds5 · 22/07/2023 09:59

It's grim. And I'm meant to be taking the kids and dog camping for five nights next week. Not remotely excited about it, now. Wet dog running in and out of the tent, wet clothes mouldering in bags, grumpy kids and grumpy mum. Wine might take the edge off. We're paying now for the beautiful weather we had in June, I think. Hopefully late August will be better!!

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 22/07/2023 09:16

It’s shit isn’t it?

I want scorchio!!!

Get thee to Europe and 43°c heat!!

We go back to school in august so that doesn't even help me 😭

Maireas · 22/07/2023 10:01

I wish there could be a system of donating some of our rain to areas with drought!
I like it though. I hate the heat.

Augustus40 · 22/07/2023 10:02

Last year I went on lots of long walks to get fitter and this year I am only going out for half an hour at a time when I can dodge the showers. Am pretty fed up with the weather right now as last year I really enjoyed the natural high .....

LittleBearPad · 22/07/2023 09:16

It's 14c and pissing down here

Chances of rain this week each day
88%, 55%, 80%, 91%, 84% and 66%
There isn't a dry or warm day forecast

Why is the weather so shit?
justanothermanicmonday1 · 22/07/2023 10:03

Not loving the rain, but the cooler weather has been lovely. I'm 37 + 5 and I'm enjoying it 🤣

RoseMartha · 22/07/2023 10:03

It is rubbish isnt it?

I don't need heatwave weather but 22 degrees and sun with some drifting clouds would be lovely with a rainy day every other week. Instead we have it the other way round.

Nevergetuy · 22/07/2023 10:04

SpeckledlyHen · 22/07/2023 09:55

SE, it's ok for an hour or so but then back to grey and rain with under 20 temps

Anewuser · 22/07/2023 10:05

@benfolds5 love the description of ‘wet clothes mouldering in the bag”.

Swansandcustard · 22/07/2023 10:06

Moonsun88 · 22/07/2023 09:36

🤣 too much media for you love. Switch it off

Erm….the current weather across Europe..USA..Canada..China isn’t ‘media’. It’s actually happening.

what a clueless and crass comment
