It is rubbish isnt it?

I don't need heatwave weather but 22 degrees and sun with some drifting clouds would be lovely with a rainy day every other week. Instead we have it the other way round.

Yes that would be perfect 😊

It's grim. And I'm meant to be taking the kids and dog camping for five nights next week. Not remotely excited about it, now. Wet dog running in and out of the tent, wet clothes mouldering in bags, grumpy kids and grumpy mum. Wine might take the edge off. We're paying now for the beautiful weather we had in June, I think. Hopefully late August will be better!!

Yeah I can't for the life of me think why you're not getting excited at this prospect it sounds grim. I hope you manage a few dry days.

I live in the SE corner of the UK, 10 minutes from the sea. We had a little rain a week ago,it's been consistently mid to high 20s. We have solar panels, and have generated around 30kw daily since May. There's a HOSEPIPE BAN,we have quarter of an acre, big veg plot,6 water butts. We're collecting the grey water from the shower.its a bungalow,so can't feed by gravity. The pond is evaporating, there are fish,so that needs topping up for them.

Erm….the current weather across Europe..USA..Canada..China isn’t ‘media’. It’s actually happening.

what a clueless and crass comment

Yes, unbelievable ignorance

doglover90 · 22/07/2023 10:07

Has anyone actually found rain appropriate summer shoes for everyday wear?!

liveforsummer · 22/07/2023 10:07

My bbc weather app shows rain every single day as far as it goes which is 4th august. It also shows a max temperature on that time of 18 c 🙄. The best of the sunshine seems confined to around 5 am too just to make sure I'm awake nice and early to experience the later rain. I'm aware I'm whinging now but the weather really does affect my mood

Ah the Mumsnet anti warm weather fetishists!

Been a bit alternate years recently; lovely 2020, really not nice 2021, (too?) hot 2022 and now 2023 too much rain.

Be nice if it perked up a bit and less rain in August and September.

But let's face it, we get the weather we get. We have to deal with it.

It's not a fetish. It's a personal preference.

fioritura · 22/07/2023 10:08

It was my sons first birthday a couple of days ago, this time last year I was sat in a literal ice bath at 40 weeks pregnant because the heat was so unbearable. I have no idea what is going on this year, it’s so miserable. I had envisioned a bbq party with garden games for his first birthday but obviously that didn’t pan out…

I have some white leather trainers that seem to do a reasonable job but I'm stuck in wellies at the stables which it's too hot for so it's either wet feet or sweaty ones

I've wore my wellies 3 times in the past 7 days so no help here I'm afraid.

Lifeinlists · 22/07/2023 10:09

Well I'm off to a wedding today. You'd have thought middle of July was a good guess on decent weather but apparently not. Pouring down and quite cold here. I'm not a hot weather fan but this isn't good.

The cricket looks done for too - and we were heading for a win.Bah!

It’s so miserable and has been going on for weeks without a break. The only tiny positive is I haven’t watered my garden for ages but I actually enjoy standing out on a warm summer evening watering, so I would much prefer hot sunshine please!

Maybe where you live but the whole country doesn't get the same weather, it's raining where I am now but it certainly hasn't been non stop. I've been to loads of outdoor events and had days out in the past few weeks and haven't had to open my umbrella once

Anyway changeable English weather is the very opposite of anything new

Maireas · 22/07/2023 10:11

Ah, shame about the cricket. Yesterday I saw a notice about a wedding party in a field near me. I feel sorry for them, it'll be a mud bath.

FrostieBoabby · 22/07/2023 10:11

Sadly I'm loving it, neighbours dogs aren't barking in the garden all day, hence 3 dogs on one side and one mangy thing on the other.

No BBQ's so my windows are actually open, the swingers opposite have abandoned their hot tub parties. (Disclaimer, may not be actual swingers but I can only ever see them from the waist up as there's a hedge and they're always naked on top so I presume they're naked underneath and they have pampass grass......)

Perfect 🥰

newfriend05 · 22/07/2023 10:12

How can anyone "love this weather in June" its grey and horrible and yes it's down to rain again every day next week not summer at all !!! But Summer seems to have moved later on in the year so hoping for a hot August/ September

We never seem to get summers like that anymore? Maybe we never did and it's just rose tinted spectacles? Sad

Maireas · 22/07/2023 10:15

Oh, I think they're swingers, @FrostieBoabby .
The weather gods have smiled on you.

Mammyloveswine · 22/07/2023 10:15

It's fucking draining!!

pillsthrillsandbellyache · 22/07/2023 10:17

It's rained every day here at some point over the last 3 weeks. I hate it, my garden appears to love it.

IClaudine · 22/07/2023 10:18

The cat has gone back to bed in disgust. 😾Feel like joining her, tbh.🌧🌧🌧

TheYearOfSmallThings · 22/07/2023 10:19

I'm ok with it, but then I grew up in Ireland and very hot weather actually makes me feel like the world is ending. Even I could do with a bit less rain.

tobee · 22/07/2023 10:20

I was being light hearted @Maireas! But you did get an absolute flood of threads on Mumsnet bewailing the heat every time it's above 25 degrees.

We can't do anything (in the short term) about the weather we get; hot, cold, snow, rain, wind, sun etc.

But I do appreciate the need for a bit of venting either way

queenrollo · 22/07/2023 10:20

The rain has been daily where I am too, and this is problematic because I'm surrounded by farmland ready to be harvested - except they can't bring it in because of the wet. Even when it stops raining they have to wait for the moisture content to be right before can they send the combine in. Doesn't bode well for the grain or rapeseed crop which is going to further affect food prices.
Lots of other food crops - potatoes and brassicas. They will rot in the fields if this carries on too much longer.
Even in my own veg patch it's affected my garlic and onions.

I personally like warmer temps, but I would take cooler temps with less rain ideally.

SirChenjins · 22/07/2023 10:20

It’s fucking miserable isn’t it? We don’t even have temperatures in the low twenties here - it’s to be maximum 15 here with drizzle. Global warming has not reached Edinburgh.
