Sorry posted mid rant....

Can't wait to go out tomorrow sans umbrella and raincoats. As things should be in early August.

Rockschooldropout · 08/08/2023 18:55

@omgsally

Summer is June July August … so we are heading into autumn .. We’ve got two dry days forecast this week then it’s back to more endless rain … 😫 like other posters after a horrendous winter I was looking forward to summer .. and we just sidestepped it and went into autumn .. I’m finding the endless grey skies and rain now utterly depressing

It was in Oban. Then two nights in Mull. (or Balamory as DD insisted on calling it). The scenery was breathtaking and we had a little bit of sun but less rain would have been nice.

Oh wow, that's exactly where I'll be next week - Oban then 3 nights in Mull! Is there anything to do on Mull in the rain? Forecast is for rain every day.......😪

Not an unusual forecast for Mull.

GEC44 · 08/08/2023 19:42

Next week onwards is looking warmer and sunnier, but it's been overcast, showery, bit humid and weirdly chilly here today, and it will be dark by 9pm.

My buddlia tree which is normally by now in full bloom appears to be wilting away, and the leaves on some bushes and trees are beginning to turn brown. Feeling a bit fed up with near constant gloom, and when it isn't gloomy, still windy.

Rain was forecast every day when we were there but we actually had some lovely sunshine when we went over to Iona. The locals kept saying that the weather was going to be nice the next day but the forecast said not. The locals were right. I'd ask them rather than the met office.😀

If you want a nice place to go for good coffee and excellent cakes I would highly recommend The Little Bespoke Bakery in Salen which is between Tobermory and Craignure.

A trip to Iona is also worth the long drive (if you're staying in Tobermory) and if you don't mind very narrow single track roads then I would suggest coming back via the scenic route to Salen. The scenery is amazing. We absolutely loved it and DD was very excited as we stayed in Josie Jump's house. ( If you haven't got a Balamory fan in the family that won't mean a thing to you).

Sorry for the derail!!

Romeiswheretheheartis · 08/08/2023 21:15

@feellikeanalien thanks! We used to love Balamory, but dd's a teen now so not quite as excited (as me) that we're staying there!

GEC44 · 08/08/2023 23:16

Last week of August looking to be hot.

Why is the weather so shit?
Fordian · 08/08/2023 23:34

@thecatsthecats 'But I am seven months pregnant, and had a real war with dehydration up until the weather turned shit.

So if the rest of you have to suffer, that's a price I'm willing for you to pay'.

😂

Please get back to us 3-10 years hence when you're trying to maintain your sanity as your DC go nuts indoors at it throws it down outside at 13 degrees. In August. 😉

Rockschooldropout · 08/08/2023 23:50

@GEC44 ooh which app is that ? My met office app is showing endless rain and 20 degrees up until 21st 😫

@Rockschooldropout it's The Weather Outlook website, 16 day forecast for my postcode area.

TrollsRUs · 09/08/2023 11:14

FINALLY got some blue sky here today. It’s only around 19, May get to 21 this afternoon - I’ll take that!

It makes such a difference.

Delatron · 09/08/2023 14:39

It’s lovely. So finally get to sit in the garden….and it’s bloody flying ant day. The buggers keep dropping all over me. I’m sure one bit me!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 09/08/2023 15:00

We had flying ant day ages ago - it's blue skies and ant free and 22° here. Perfect.

Delatron · 09/08/2023 15:02

It’s very late here this year. But definitely ants everywhere.

hellswelshy · 09/08/2023 17:32

Yes flying ant day here too in South Wales 😄Very warm!

ginasevern · 09/08/2023 17:59

At last - sunshine, blue sky and around 22 degrees in the South West. Wearing a summer dress and sandals. Apparently it's going to last all of three days!

MarleyJP · 10/08/2023 11:50

Dry but still no sun here, the promised hasn't arrived. ☹️

Just one day, please! 😉

angharadsgoat · 10/08/2023 12:16

26 degrees here today! 23 tomorrow then rain for a couple of days after that.

It is a pleasant respite from the wet weather.

Delatron · 10/08/2023 12:17

Yes it’s started to cloud over here and forecast changed. One day of summer would have been nice!

Tomorrow cloudy.
Saturday windy. So much for a few days of summer.

It was lovely for 3 hours this morning though.

TrueScrumptious · 10/08/2023 13:50

Incredibly hot here today. I’ve had to retreat inside on my lunchbreak- London.

Oakbeam · 10/08/2023 19:41

Incredibly hot here today

What? Like fifty degrees or something?

Delatron · 10/08/2023 20:07

It was a nice day but not incredibly hot! And I’m in the SE.

Huh?
I'm in the Northwest it's been boiling today .

Delatron · 10/08/2023 20:36

I guess it’s an individual thing. For me ‘incredibly hot’ and ‘boiling’ would be about 35+ degrees.

25/26 is a nice summer’s day
