I think the weather is quite nice. It’s not raining.

slavetothekittens · 22/07/2023 09:22

Decides.

BooksAndHooks · 22/07/2023 09:22

Yep even the days it says no rain , it rains as soon as the washing is out. When it isn’t raining it’s cloudy. Had to cancel my daughter’s birthday bbq today, we have only ever had to do that once before. Solid rain from today and most of next week. Temperatures struggling to get above 19.

golddustwomen · 22/07/2023 09:23

The rain has also been relentless where I am. It's pissing me off no end but I absolutely prefer this to being dripping of sweat. Although some dry days during the school holidays wouldn't go a miss.

MadamWhiteleigh · 22/07/2023 09:24

We always think of August as summer but I think the best weather is June and early July and then it starts to rain a lot.

ThePoshUns · 22/07/2023 09:24

I've got this week off and it's miserable where I am. Awful for the children on school holidays. And parents!

CombatBarbie · 22/07/2023 09:24

Jun was fabulous..... Now I don't think there's been a day it hasn't rained at some point..... Not impressed!

Vickythevan63 · 22/07/2023 09:25

It is lovely. I think you’re exaggerating about the rain. It’s hardly never ending.

It obviously depends where you live. I am in Cheshire, currently listening to torrential rain, has been for a couple of hours and predicted most of today and tomorrow.

Last Saturday was torrential thunderstorms on and off most of the day.

I am retired and on dry days I will drive out somewhere to do a long walk with the dog. On wet days, I will do things at home and do the dog walking between the rain. I have had one day out in last 2/3 weeks, there has been virtually no days without at least some rain.

Tiddlywinkly · 22/07/2023 09:25

Thinking back on previous years, doesn't it always warm up again around the end of September? I work at a uni and I always notice the nice weather around Freshers Week.

RavenT · 22/07/2023 09:25

For the last couple of years we've had beautiful days in September and October - lots of sunshine and mild temperatures, so I'm hoping we get that again.

Anewuser · 22/07/2023 09:26

And it’s all the outside summer activities that it spoils.

My son had his graduation in the week and although it was beautiful sunshine when we left, I didn’t bother checking the weather. So obviously when we arrived 3 hours later it was raining. Not in my car, so no umbrellas. It was an inside venue so didn’t consider we’d have to queue up for 20 minutes beforehand. I know it was my own fault we got wet.

All the outside photos which should have been gorgeous at the venue were spoilt.

As others have said, our summer has definitely changed to June.

TrueScrumptious · 22/07/2023 09:26

No rain here. I’ve got the French doors and windows open. It’s not boiling hot but it’s very pleasant.

Stupid miserable British weather.

Obviously none of the posters on this thread have ever lived in either Manchester or Glasgow.
Those towns are on the NW side of UK right in the line of the rain-bearing Westerlies that come off the Atlantic.
No matter if the weather is bright and sunny when you set out, it could well rain a couple of hours later. I never possessed a folding umbrella until I lived in Manchester 😞

Livinghappy · 22/07/2023 09:26

Given the European situation our weather is preferable so I haven't found it terrible. Its not cold at least!

Absolutely, my DSs birthday is the 1st of August, we were going to have a bbq and a themepark day out for his birthday but we are now worried it'll all be rained off. I was sure having a baby in August the sunshine would be almost a sure thing but it's been so grey and rainy this week I'm trying to think of alternate plans.

Livelovebehappy · 22/07/2023 09:27

Because it’s the start of the school holidays. It’s always shit these days when the holidays start.

midgetastic · 22/07/2023 09:28

Why is it so bad ? Because no one acted 40 years ago

It will get worse unless people change lifestyles a lot - more extreme drought , heat , wind ( probably science less clear here ) and rains

Fearnecuptea · 22/07/2023 09:29

I love it - was dreading the prospect of this summer with a baby but the cooler days and nights are so much easier! I can actually put baby into his swaddle sack, if it was hotter he'd be startling himself awake every 5 minutes in just a nappy.
Might be a different story next summer!

In Northern Ireland it is. It's been raining for fucking weeks and I don't think it's gone over 19 degrees since early June. Anyone who thinks this is lovely is insane.

Unfortunately I think we are beyond the point of changing our lifestyles.

I heard it's something to do with the heatwave in Europe causing all the rain here

I heard it's the aliens 👽

ActDottie · 22/07/2023 09:31

Oh I love it! Hate the heat we had in May/June.

User9753224 · 22/07/2023 09:33

I just wished the skys were blue when it rained - when the skies are relentlessly grey does my head in eventually !

Feeling luckier than those in the super hot parts of Europe !

arghtriffid · 22/07/2023 09:33

Yes it is awful this year and no end in sight by the look of it. I feel sorry for us all. Heatwave if you fly out to Europe and washout if you stay.

Swansandcustard · 22/07/2023 09:33

I am heartily glad we’re not experiencing the heatwave that Europe is. Would not wish that on us. They’re struggling and they’re generally better set up for hot weather. Think back to last year where you could barely sleep because it was so hot.
