Meaning don't name anyone, or any programme or ask for initials or hint.

I just would like to discuss how this is likely to unfold.

It’s doubtful as it just takes one person, posting names repeatedly, to get a thread taken down.

I agree it would be helpful to have a thread discussing how this happens and what happens next but some people can’t help posting speculation.

I suppose viewers/listeners with an encyclopaedic knowledge of the schedules might work it out if they notice who isn't on.

The average observer probably won't, but I expect the tabloids will do their usual juxtapositions and hints until it breaks.

Someone on the other thread was predicting it will break in "days" which sounds about right.

The bbc's own article says male presenter.

The internet appears to be self regulating on this one. I really feel for the family but also the individuals whose names have been bandied around and are completely innocent. Some of the things that have been said are disgusting. Rightfully some are now taking legal action.

Glad I found this thread. I have been wondering to myself who it may be but I can understand why threads are being deleted. All I wonder is how long it will be before news outlets release who it is or do we think that won't happen at all?

I worked years ago with one of the men who have been suggested. He had his demons but could also be very kind and generous. Didn’t have the easiest of childhoods. What a mess if it is him.

I mean, really, the identity of this scum bag isn't the most interesting thing.

Why it keeps happening in showbiz is the issue that needs attention but the again I keep thinking maybe the opportunities are better if you're a pervert who happens to have fans, and maybe it was ever thus. Maybe travelling minstrels and music hall stars also had a proportion of sleaze bags. The egos are big enough in entertainment industry for sexual offending to be a pattern.

There's names everywhere but what I am seeing is a lot more people saying to be careful of naming people without proof. I don't remember seeing that much before.

I don't see how they'll keep it quiet for long.

How can they reassure everyone it's dealt with if they maintain secrecy? If police prosecute it will eventually come out anyway. Something or other will break the story.
