TV presenter allegations

Could we PLEASE have a thread that stays up?

Meaning don't name anyone, or any programme or ask for initials or hint.

I just would like to discuss how this is likely to unfold.

OP posts:

@bellac11
If you heard that someone you worked with was using Only Fans and paying for content, what would you do?
^
Only fans is just speculation at this point. That's not been reported as fact anywhere.

The images aren't even the only problem, though illegal, it's the abuse of power that's morally wrong too.^

Its not confirmed its Only Fans, you're right

My point is, the poster said that people thrive like this because everyone else stays quiet

So if you heard of that rumour at work, what does 'not staying quiet' entail?

Its not illegal. There might be an abuse of power but you wouldnt know that. At the end of the day, there is a transaction between two people on a site where both are meant to be adults.

So apart from talking about someones private life which you dont approve of, what does 'not staying quiet' mean in this specific context?

Sunnyfunnytimes · 10/07/2023 07:29

topnoddy · 10/07/2023 07:25

You are all going round in circles discussing things that no one knows anything about really .

Absolutely nothing has been published about any of the details of this alleged case .

All this "I know who it is" is total rubbish based on crap posted on SM

Why are you on the thread then, there is plenty to choose from. And clearly folks do know more than others, due to multiple statements from the mother to Patel to the bbc. If you do not know anything and haven’t read any of the info been put in the public domain, why comment?

booktokbear · 10/07/2023 07:30

@IClaudine I have seen the photo, god help me. It is fake. It doesn't even match the description the mother gave- she said it was of the presenter in his underwear. The Twitter photo has the underwear around the ankles.

No one has said that photo has anything to do with the allegations by the mother. There are multiple instances on twitter, with a certain presenter, (whether he's the one been suspended has not been confirmed) from 2019 to 2022 of him contacting young men through their social media.

Curiouscarla · 10/07/2023 07:25

I think the reason the person is staying quiet is because as far as he was concerned this was a normal only fans contract. I doubt they knew the model for want of a better word.,was only 17.
If this kind of thing was illegal Only Fans would not exist. Only Fans has roughly 12 million users in the UK alone. Users and models are both male and female. Do you seriously think he is the only married high profile person on there? If you do then you are very naive.

This is what I'm struggling with. If contact / payment was through only fans then what has this person done that many others haven't? Is that not the whole point of it - people pay to see content. In fact there are often news articles that few like they are promoting the bloody site as a legitimate employment option.

The fact that the person was 17 when they signed up is another matter and surely that is down to them - if it age limit is 18 the person watching has no way to validate the person isn't.

If I have missed something and it wasn't through only fans then that's a separate issue.

booktokbear · 10/07/2023 07:32

Only fans is just speculation.

Curiouscarla · 10/07/2023 07:34

Exactly @bellac11 .The moral outrage on here has nothing to due with abuses of power. You've got posters now using the words evil etc.
This is about women who cannot get their heads around sex work. They hate it. And this is most likely what motivated the mother to complain.
I'm not saying this to be goady but I would bet a lot of mothers will have their sons and daughters working on that and other sites.

ThisWOMANWontWheesht · 10/07/2023 07:36

I saw the photo on twitter last night. It's surely fake due to the timing. Suddenly appearing a few hours after this person has been trending online as the subject of a scandal? Convenient. 🙄

Dear lord, I do hope he's guilty. The thought of what he must be going through now if an innocent man is hellish.

I've seen the photo 😱 so now we know wHo it is

So have I.

It looks like a very bad photoshop to me.

peacocktail · 10/07/2023 07:38

I am assuming that only fans are for adults. It's a misconception that abuse only relates to children, quite often vulnerable people of age are manipulated. If someone has paid for photographs or films knowing that the money was needed for drugs they have taken advantage of a cruel situation.

bellac11 · 10/07/2023 07:39

The other alternative of course is that somehow this person ended up messaging the young person on social media and developed a relationship that way and started paying for photos and performances.

Thats a bit different but still needs more detail about how old he thought the person was

Me too and the original source posted it without comment, surely you would add in a 'this was sent to XYZ in 2022' or whatever if it was legit. It's not AI, the hands are too good, could well be photoshop. I'm not an expert but the lower body looks younger than 60ish.

Have you read the article? The mother believes the money has given their child a crack cocaine habit and wants it to stop before it completely destroys them.
It's nothing to do with pearl clutching about sex work.

This..12 million users of Only Fans in the UK, so 33 million men (latest population figures 2018), take out the 75yr+ and the under 18s leaves approx 24 million. So making a fairly hefty assumption that the vast majority of only fans users are men and you're left with approx 50% of men between 18-75 being users and I imagine people from all social/economic backgrounds. This is the real story.

Well is it illegal to contact people on Twitter? And of course if it is on Twitter it must be true.🙄

Seriously, the glee with which some people are shredding this person's reputation is getting hard to stomach.

Curiouscarla · 10/07/2023 07:44

@peacocktail do you seriously think these people discuss why they want the money. You could argue that single mothers using the money to feed their kids are vulnerable etc. Of course people go into sex work for various reasons including uni students. Are they vulnerable too?

Money doesn't "give" people crack habits. Addicts with no money fuck strangers in alleyways and steal, to fund their needs.

We are missing huge, huge chunks of detail which should've been looked into before any of this was made public.

Curiouscarla · 10/07/2023 07:48

And I'm sure there is a high probability that many BBC execs and police officers investigating are swiftly closing accounts.

Is sex work as a solution their ideal first choice? Or maybe second or third even?

Ah but that doesn't sell papers or get more hits on a website of a low life crappy tabloid does it !

Curiouscarla · 10/07/2023 07:51

It's a way to make a lot of money. As I've said previously these cam models can make beyond 12k a month from the safety of their own home. It's rife with posh totty uni students.

determinedtomakethiswork · 10/07/2023 07:53

I just don't understand this at all. I can understand someone being paid for photos and using that money for drugs. What I can't understand is the person buying the photos continuing to buy them for three years when the victim has become a drug addled mess. The fact is that if you take crack cocaine, it's very hard to pass as someone who doesn't take drugs.

It's hard to think of the older person becoming obsessed with the younger person if that young person is a drug addict.

I thought on places like only fans that the guys would pay for multiple people rather than spending all their money on one person. Three years is a hell of a long time to be paying someone.

The only thing I can think is that the young person was blackmailing the other person.

And how come the boy's mother didn't notice his income before now? Surely you'd be more likely to notice it when he's 17 than when he is 20.

Ive said before on threads, or even this one cant remember, that money doesnt give someone an addiction, its likely she had the addiction.

In any case, what if someone enters the world of work at 17 and starts spending their income on drugs? Is it that different? Are you going to go to Sainsburys and say dont employ my son anymore because hes spending his income on weed?

Endlesssummerof76 · 10/07/2023 07:55

It was reported that the person's mother stated they had confided in her previously about receiving money.

Curiouscarla · 10/07/2023 07:58

If a guy/woman is high profile they will use a regular girl to mitigate risk of exposure. And yes a lot of Women buy pics too.... Shock horror

And she believed the word of a drug addict ?

Addicts lie , cheat and steal to feed their habit don't they
