Topless on holiday with tween DC?

On holiday in France with DH, DD11 and DS10. About third of women on beach are topless.
DH very keen that I join them (I did happily last time we went on holiday). But I feel that it will embarrass the DC.
Am I being prudish given there’s plenty doing it and I absolutely would if DC weren’t there, or am I being respectful of their feelings?

Ask your children, if they are horrified by the idea then don’t do it. If they don’t care then neither should you, go for it

I wouldn't. I say that as an ex topless model, so I'm no prude but I don't get them out in public. It's up to you if you do, but I wouldn't around my kids, especially my older son. He'd be embarrassed.

Why is your DH so keen that you join them?! That's the ick bit for me, he wants to perve at your naked breasts in the presence of his children.
If you just wanted to to feel comfortable or to avoid tan lines I think it's fine albeit DC will be embarrassed but that age group are easily mortified.
The bit that makes it grim for me is that your DH is the one pushing you to do it

Ahh now this is a tricky one OP! Normally I'd be all "what's the problem? It's only boobs! They'll see them there anyway."

But I've a DD 14 who around about 11/12 seemed very aware of her changing body and was no longer comfortable seeing me naked (wasn't as much of an issue with DH as he'd stopped being in a state of undress in her vicinity way before, more for his comfort than hers). Obviously a quick glimpse as I'm legging it across the landing to the shower or accidentally it was fine. It's just Things Changed.

Maybe ask them? And if you get the feeling they'll be weirded out it's not a problem to be covered up. Worth bearing in mind that if your DH and s well up for it he may be a bit less discreet with, shall we say, how he shows his affection to you when he thinks the kids can't see. I remember being mortified by how much dad was with my mum in a similar situation at that age. I'm not a prude but even now looking back it was an odd stage where I felt highly uncomfortable with the realisation and of their sexuality. It didn't last forever though

Anyway I'm rambling and aware I'll soon have my post policed for being uptight/prudish/ yadda yadda Grin
