Topless on holiday with tween DC?

On holiday in France with DH, DD11 and DS10. About third of women on beach are topless.
DH very keen that I join them (I did happily last time we went on holiday). But I feel that it will embarrass the DC.
Am I being prudish given there’s plenty doing it and I absolutely would if DC weren’t there, or am I being respectful of their feelings?

Friends of mine with DC who have told me they’ve gone topless have either been breastfeeding or it’s more comfy to do it and they did it before.

Once their DC get to any age where it’s embarrassing for them then the DM either puts on a bikini top to not embarrass them or just carries on going topless regardless of their DCs embarrassment.

In this case your DH is saying for you to do it, you feel awkward and the kids are embarrassed so I’d ignore your DH and please the kids!

Depends on your kids relationship with seeing you with no clothes , my kids wouldn’t care at all but don’t do anything you don’t fell comfortable with .

Thanks for the comments, I don’t think it’s the right thing to do in front of DC so won’t.

I remember going abroad with my mum and younger sister in my teens. We used to see topless sunbathers. We knew that some like to sunbathe topless and it's they're choice. Didn't see many British mum's topless though. The one's who did would just go topless lying on on they're front. I would have been embarrassed if our mum sunbathed topless though.

My DS would be absolutely mortified, so I wouldn't in the same position. DD wouldn't care and would probably want to join in, so if it was just her I would.

Yes DD sees me, and to a lesser extent DH, naked when we're showering or getting dressed and while we don't dive for cover, she's currently learning about keeping privates private (that's the schools line, not mine). We talk freely about our bodies, and we're certainly not embarrassed but that doesn't mean I would be happy to be topless on a beach whilst with her.

If you are "doing it once" when your kids are not accustomed to it then I would say it's a hard no. If your kid has grown up from infancy spending all his summers with his family on an FKK beach it is a VERY different thing.

Ok, DS is only 7 but if he sees me in a state if undress it absolutely is not an issue, he knows mummy's breasts fed him for 6 months, why are we treating the most natural thing in the world as some sort of perversion?

I meant to add, i remember being on holiday with mother when I was aged 11 and feeling horrific at the sight of her massive bazookas out for the appeal of her horrendous boyfriend so I'd only sunbathe topless if I were small of breast and the kids were either not there or still little, tweens and teens, nope!

So it depends on the size of your boobs? That makes me glad to be part of a community where that is not the point and is irrelevant. I have been thin and young, and also fat and old on an FKK beach. No difference in how anyone regards you. THAT is the point.
