Topless on holiday with tween DC?

Toobear · 04/07/2023 15:43

On holiday in France with DH, DD11 and DS10. About third of women on beach are topless.
DH very keen that I join them (I did happily last time we went on holiday). But I feel that it will embarrass the DC.
Am I being prudish given there’s plenty doing it and I absolutely would if DC weren’t there, or am I being respectful of their feelings?

Nothing wrong with FKK in the right places and times, and my adult children don't need psychotherapy I can assure you. I can't imagine why anyone would need therapy because of having naturist parents. I don't see the correlation. We don't do any kind of "games" or "mutual bathing" that could be any kind of guise for sexual abuse. We are not naked at home. You do realise that the vast majority of children who have been sexually abused are not abused by naturists, right?

Smoothiecarton · 04/07/2023 17:17

I think it’s fine if you want to go topless for comfort etc. But if you want to go topless so your dh can perv on you, that’s super weird in front of tween kids?! What will he be doing, ogling you and saying phhhhwoaar as you walk along as a family? V odd.

theDudesmummy · 04/07/2023 17:18

@Smoothiecarton my thoughts entirely.

Everything else aside if you’ve started to tan then take your top off
white tits will stick out like a sore thumb

Eh? Stick out where? When you're in Tesco?

StarlightLady · 04/07/2023 17:19

@littleripper - Unless I've missed something vital in this thread there has been no reference to men wanting children naked (if I have missed something, I apologise now), which is a disturbing issue but a separate one.

In my experience there is a huge amount of boundary crossing.

theDudesmummy · 04/07/2023 17:21

Not in my experience of 35 years as a naturist.

I think it's in response to the naturists advocating it, and referring to nude family holidays.

CurlewKate · 04/07/2023 17:22

I don't want to follow the herd-but what business is it of your H?

And yes- I think your dc would probably hate it. Don't ask them- that's not fair.

Lentilweaver · 04/07/2023 17:22

There are so many very odd posts these days.

EasterBreak · 04/07/2023 17:25

Just asked my teen this, he said he'd drown himself

willWillSmithsmith · 04/07/2023 17:26

Your DH is ‘very keen’ and you have your kids there? Ick Ick Ick Ick. He has no boundaries!!

Clymene · 04/07/2023 17:26

Okay. Well perhaps your children have a different story to tell.

Mine would run screaming "My eyes, my eyes"......😂

willWillSmithsmith · 04/07/2023 17:30

Well if it is a troll the troll will see that most here think the man is a creep!

WonderfulUsername · 04/07/2023 17:30

Your husband is weird as it has fuck all to do with him.

Your thread is weird as the only person here who knows your kids and how they might react is you.

Toobear · 04/07/2023 17:32

To be clear, DH thinks that I should be me and be confident in front of DC. No question of him being pervy (apologies I can see I didn’t articulate this well). And no question of DC being naked 🙄
Thanks for the comments, I don’t think it’s the right thing to do in front of DC so won’t.

How come you're in France? Have your children broken up already?

2bazookas · 04/07/2023 17:35

It's not for DH to decide.

Just ask the children . If they are horrified, it's a no.

NerrSnerr · 04/07/2023 17:36

We have friends who have broken up already at a small, very posh private primary.

Could be that kind of thing then.

cocksstrideintheevening · 04/07/2023 17:38

So he wants to ogle you in front of your kids on holiday 🤮 go topless if you want, it being anything to do with your husband being keen is grim

Toobear · 04/07/2023 17:38

PS For those who are telling me my DC should be in school, school holidays have started in Scotland.

StarlightLady · 04/07/2023 17:39

@2bazookas - Going topless is quite acceptable and in some places the norm in parts of France. On some beaches you rarely see a bikini top. And they are not all "pretty young things' either. I agree it is not for DH to decide. But it is not for the children to decide what their parents do either. It is for the OP to decide herself.

Cas112 · 04/07/2023 17:39

I think it makes it creepy that your husband is so keen for it especially with the kids around

Why would your husband have a say on this?
