Cash flow, tax bills, lots of reasons. Those net worth sites are bollocks anyway. She’s probably worth millions in property and investments but I doubt she has £45m just sitting in the bank and her expenses will be high.

I expect she just enjoys being in front of a camera and sometimes it's fun to do something different from challenging acting roles. And also, who knows how much her lifestyle costs to maintain?

Maybe she has never paid into a pension scheme.

Also net worth isn’t cash. A lot of they will be assets like property then that comes with a lot of taxes and expenses.

Maybe she wanted to build an extension or get a new roof as well as spend a month in the Seychelles and realized that this month’s royalties wouldn’t cover it so asked her agent to find her something quick with a big payout.

But Judy Drench probably hasn't holidayed at Butlins in the past 50 years. On the contrary, she'd probably think nothing of dropping £4k a night on somewhere swanky in New York.

Now, I'm sure if the work dried up she could probably tighten her belt, but the point is she doesn't have to. She is in the position, partly through the fact she's worked bloody hard her entire life, but also partly through sheer luck, to be able to command huge sums of money for pretending to be in charge of some secret agents in some daft little advert.

If it means she can still stay in the best hotel in the world instead of the second best one, why wouldn't she do it? It's not like it's going to affect her reputation at this point in her life.

I've sometimes wondered the same but then thought maybe she thinks 'I'll do this one crap advert and the money earned will pay for my grandson's university tuition/I'll give it UNICEF/keeps me in gin' etc.

Saw her in a TV programme not so long ago - who do you think you are? Maybe? She was in her rather lovely house and mentioned to the interviewer, who admired it, that she and her late husband had done an advert that paid for it. Good luck to her. I expect she's got expensive taste. She can pay for it. What's the problem?

She's got macular degeneration and her eyesight is now so poor she can no longer read scripts, so doing an advert might be her way of keeping her hand in with acting and still earning a few bob.

I wondered that. But I think she's having problems with her eyesight, so can't read loads of lives any more. So an advert means she can still work and not struggle with learning long scripts.

Strange world we live in, this conversation about JD’s ease of earning a tidy sum for a couple of days work when there’s the thread about consultants’ pay and a common view that they are overpaid. People at the top of their game working long hours to help save/improve lives.

Adore JD. Often wondered this about celebrities myself, especially those with mega wealth. I suppose could be money, opportunity, or they just genuinely enjoy it. I suppose the same as any big name who has more than enough for generations and yet continues to work. Must serve some purpose for them!
