It doesn’t bother me. Apart from I genuinely was interested in why people famous in their own right - and not needing the money - would do adverts for random companies. It wasn’t a diss on her or a judgement on what women can or can’t do. I didn’t realise people were so protective of Judy Dench!

I suspect like many people giving up work is harder than it sounds when you're younger. It gets you out of the house, meeting people, often doing something you quite like doing and with people you quite like being with. I also think if people have worked a lot before and been successful it can be even harder to stop doing it, especially coming after a good period of time when they weren't able to (covid.)

Maybe she thought she needed to be higher profile so people who started posts about her would learn how to spell her name.

From what I understand (this may be a myth), lots of celebs do adverts when they have a tax bill to pay. It's a couple of days work which pays both very well and pretty quickly.

Could be that it gives her a chance to do a bit of acting but she doesn’t want to/isn’t able to commit to a full film or tv series anymore. Could be that she wants to earn as much money as possible for her family because she goes. I do think your post was in poor spirit sadly.

I expect TV adverts with people of her status pay a lot of money for not very much work. Good for her if she can rake it in like that.

She will have to pay for the upkeep of her property or properties, her lifestyle may include supporting others.l including staff.

She will have a lot of expensive outgoings.

Louis Theroux interviewed her, i'm sure she talked about why she does adverts and how her eye sight is going making it hard to learn scripts.

Same reason George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Johnny Depp et al get involved I should think, quick easy money...what's not to like?

Surely the same could be said for any celebrity that advertises for a company.
Kevin Bacon is worth about the same and he advertises for EE.

Same as why Jim Broadbent does the Aldi (or Lidl?) Christmas voiceover adverts or Bill Nighy dies annoying TK Max jingles. Little work, big money, keeps them relevant for other work to come in, don’t stop working or you get old and die sort of thing. Ian Mckellen never stops and he’s in his 80’s. I saw his stage show a few years ago and he actually said he was afraid to stop work and being busy as that’s when Grim will come knocking!
