Please can you tell me what the most irritating, grinding and soul destroying song you can think of please?

That horrible fairground song- so creepy

Tighginn · 24/06/2023 01:37

Anything and everything by U2

AGardenFullOfGuineaSquiggs · 24/06/2023 01:39

Auld Lang Syne (It's such a dirge. Every new years eve. Urgh)

also I second the PP who said Mull of Kintyre. The Beatles were bloody brilliant . Wings were a bit sh*t.

that awful song with the lyrics "on my body, on my body, put your hands upon my body...." (Can't remember who wrote it but it's a pile of wanky wank.

RunningAwayToJoinTheCircus · 24/06/2023 01:55

Mother of Mine by Neil Reed.
That awful Noooooooooo Yawwwwwwwkk dirge by Alicia Keys.
Anything by Mariah Carey.
Ben by Michael Jackson.

Zoopet · 24/06/2023 06:32

I actually like most of these songs.😳

LadyGAgain · 24/06/2023 06:57

American pie
Brown eyed girl
Come on Eileen
Whiter shade of pale
Anything operatic
Any Johnny Cash
Father and son (Cat Stevens)
All Bob Dylan
Blame it on the weatherman
This is rather cathartic. I could go on but your ears are already bleeding if you're listening to this list!

Ilovegardens · 24/06/2023 08:18

@mrssilky - Good shout! I'd forgotten how dull and dreary the lead singers voice was - total drainer music.

OhForFucksFuckingSake · 24/06/2023 08:21

Miss You by Blink 182

Why does it always rain on me? by Travis

Anything by Queen.

AutumnCrow · 24/06/2023 08:28

Anything by the Beautiful South. Whiney shrieky voices singing nauseatingly smug lyrics to a self-satisfied melody with fuck all charisma.

Same with Texas and Charlene Spiteri, but the Beautiful South are far far worse.

I think that was 'Erotic' by Madonna.

'Erotic, erotic. Put your hands all over my body'

Such wonderfully clever lyrics. 🙄

EmpressaurusOfCats · 24/06/2023 08:32

Anything along the lines of ‘I can’t live without you’ (horrible emotional blackmail) or ‘I’m going to make you fall in love with me’ (stalkerish).

Why?

Sorry everyone for the late response, I had no notifications for this thread until this morning! Some of these responses are amazing.

Some context -
After over a year of trying everything I can to stop my early 20 something neighbour screeching, shouting and being insanely loud every single night, waking myself and my DS up at all hours. She's a gamer which is fine but every night I hear "FUCK, FUCK, FUCKKKK!! ARGHHHHH, NOOOOO" constantly with things being thrown around and things being smashed. Honestly, I've had it. Tomorrow I'm playing something at full blast by her bedroom wall, on repeat and leaving the house for the day and night. I've been kind, I've tried reasoning, ive tried being firmer, nothing has worked. We're moving when our fixed term is up so can't move at the moment.

Neighbour has no conditions or valid reasons to be like this other than she's obnoxious and selfish. Had a party night before last until 2am on a Thursday night. I could still hear people after 3 am. I can't put DS cot or our bed anywhere else either. I've resorted to sleeping downstairs in the living room with DS regularly to escape the noise.

I know it's petty, and I might not actually have the guts to do it, but I don't care anymore. If I do it, it won't affect anyone else nearby, just her. It will just make me feel better for a day 😂

I (skim) read an article t'other day about a man who loudly played a recording of his neighbour's dog constantly bloody barking.

Poor bastard must have been at the end of his tether, so I completely sympathised.

The irony was that he was charged with an offence! I can't remember what it was...like i say i only skimmed it.

My MiL defeated her neighbour with Mahler on a loop. All day long.

I’d pick Shostakovich but hey, I’m crazy like that 😄

Whichwhatnow · 24/06/2023 08:52

Beautiful by James Blunt.

Also Barbie Girl by Aqua.

And let's not forget the Cheeky Girls!

Whichwhatnow · 24/06/2023 08:55

No Way No Way by Vanilla is terrible but it's mostly the bored look of all the band members in the video that make it so bad! So probably not suited to this purpose.

Friday by Rebecca Black?

Miss You by Blink 182

Anything by Queen.

All excellent shouts. Especially bloody Travis. There's a risk neighbour might be a Queen fan though unfortunately

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/06/2023 09:10

If you push the vacuum cleaner up against the skirting board between her room and yours ( lift the beater bar to protect your floor) the sound travels in a very satisfying manner .

I used to punish NDN tardy 20something son when his wanky music went on too late and I felt he'd benefit from a 6am wake-up call .

And yes we did the going round at 3am to tell them to quieten down. Didn't work Hmm

WillowtreeHouse · 24/06/2023 09:14

Abracadabra by the Steve Miller band. Absolutely fucking appalling. I have a friend who visibly baulks and leaves the room when this comes on the radio. 🤣

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/06/2023 09:17

I've actually done this with neighbours who were playing card games all night in the bedroom next to mine.

It worked. I was surprised because I thought it might antagonise them, but it got the message across that polite requests obviously hadn't.

IHeartGeneHunt · 24/06/2023 09:26

Dry Your Eyes, the Streets (I think)

I used to like Madonna in the 80s and early 90s but she went crap
