Yes we know they're billionaires
We can discuss things that are horrifying and ghoulish, thanks for your opinion.
Migrant boats are sad too

As you were 😁

How horrifying that a submarine carrying 5 people has gone missing. Apparently there’s only 96 hours of air on the submarine when it sets off. The...

Thanks for the new thread!

starrynight21 · 22/06/2023 13:03

It's all over now. There just isn't any time left for them. I hope they found some peace at the end.

pickledandpuzzled · 22/06/2023 13:03

Most impressed by the range of relevant knowledge and experience on the threads.
Thanks to all who contributed!

Has the (possibly human) banging stopped ?

Emotionalsupportviper · 22/06/2023 13:05

Thank you

FriendsDrinkBook · 22/06/2023 13:06

Thank you for the new thread. I hope the families of those missing find peace.

Asthebellcurves · 22/06/2023 13:06

Responding to a point raised on T3; there are Co2 scrubbers on board. Questions have been raised to whether the system is large enough to have worked effectively for the length of time the oxygen supply provided. The efficacy of the scrubbing is highly dependent on power to forcibly pump CO2 through the system. Without this, it’s not so effective.

This is my fear. It would take hours to get them back to the surface.

TokyoSushi · 22/06/2023 13:08

I think that very sadly we must be almost reaching the end of any hope of a positive outcome now. There still seems to be a lot of effort going on to find it which is good.

Mommasgotabrandnewbag · 22/06/2023 13:09

All we can do now is pray for them.

I'm so sorry it ended this way. This must be learned from.

Does anyone have the twitter links please

tortoishelll · 22/06/2023 13:10

I'm still trying to cling on to a thread of hope, although my heart is telling me it's over 😞

icelollycraving · 22/06/2023 13:12

I have been reading the threads. I have felt extremely uptight and a bit panicky since this unfolded. I feel ridiculous, I don’t know these men or their families.
I would never do this kind of trip, don’t have 250k and the being bolted into a tube where I can’t stand or move much sounds hellish in itself.
The video someone linked, of the man who had been down before, where he said it was the cold that would be the thing they got them was unsettling. I hope beyond hope they make it, but it is looking unlikely. I hope they just fall asleep with no pain or too much fear.

Marteenie · 22/06/2023 13:13

Must also be horrific for those on the ship that would have spent at least a few days with them all, and then realised they weren't coming back up.

TheTERFnextDoor · 22/06/2023 13:13

If the sub is on seabed, how long will the electricity last?

tortoishelll · 22/06/2023 13:14

TheTERFnextDoor · 22/06/2023 13:13

If the sub is on seabed, how long will the electricity last?

I'd imagine if the sub is not traceable, the electrics have likely gone, too. I read the walls of the sub were heated, but I can't imagine that has worked.

broadbezb · 22/06/2023 13:14

Two remote-controlled deep-sea diving vehicles deployed
According to the US Coast Guard, two remotely operated vehicles have just been deployed in the search effort

L'Atalante has now deployed its ROV.

An ROV from a Canadian vessel has apparently reached the seabed and is searching.

icelollycraving · 22/06/2023 13:15

Also I’ve been surprised at the diverse knowledge that is throughout the posts on the threads.

OooohAhhhh · 22/06/2023 13:15

They have suffered enough, I hope they are at peace now, they can't be alive anymore surely. No one will know the horrors of what they experienced. The news said it could be as far down as 1200 metres. I doubt it will ever be found.
Why on earth wasn't it fitted with a GPS system?

EmmaBridgewaterMugs · 22/06/2023 13:15

So sad. RIP.

They may not be dead yet.

tortoishelll · 22/06/2023 13:16

Part of me still thinks (hopes) the teenager could be alive. Surely, as a parent, you would hand over your supplies to save your child. Who knows what's truly happened down there. It could be possible..

FettleOfKish · 22/06/2023 13:17

I'm at JER now, had a walk round on my lunch break. The Air Force jet with the ROV on board is readying to depart.
