What expensive thing is worth the money?

I’ll start, McCain frozen jacket potatoes. Supermarket own brand never cook through properly and it’s so handy to just have one in the freezer

A good diet with lots of veg

MerryHen · 20/06/2023 20:25

Children's car seats that are tested beyond the absolute minimum safety standards.

And Oatly chocolate milk, so much nicer than supermarket own brand.

Latex pillow and coverless duvet. Feels so good!

A good quality 3/4 length winter coat (mine looks like a sleeping bag and is super warm and cozy).

Proper old fashioned oil based fence paint - means you don't have to repaint it every year (cheap mainstream fence paint washes out in less than a year!)

A comfortable sofa. We bought incliners and can't imagine not having them now.

A good hairdresser.

I'm with you on McCain frozen jacket potatoes! I buy them and consider it a treat to have them ready.

Along with, Lurpak salty butter, expensive but totally worth it.

Lurpack

Yes to this! We tried various alternatives when a tub reached £5 a while back. Even bought a butter dish for packs of butter. It was all for nowt. It wasn't worth the disappointment.

AfingeroffudgeisNOTenough · 20/06/2023 20:28

M&S Rotisserie Chicken. Hands down the best one and even though the price has just increased again they are so worth it.

Quality chocolate for baking.

Ditto flour.

McVities Digestives. (OK - so not the most expensive thing in the world, but own brand crap need not apply)

FedEx/UPS when sending parcels to the US - Royal Mail/USPS may be cheaper but it isn’t ever worth the stress of wondering if it will ever get there!

Happyhappyday · 20/06/2023 20:35

Sofa. Outdoor gear, and I don’t mean The North Face, I mean Arc’teryx. Childcare.

Baldieheid · 20/06/2023 20:39

Cats.

3 of the hairy little buggers. Cost a fortune to run but the joy they give outweighs that by a factor of 10000000000000

FurElise · 20/06/2023 20:41

If you have dogs or cats, a decent robot vacuum (or two). Amazing little buggers.

caringcarer · 20/06/2023 20:44

A decent pillow. I like a nice firm memory foam one.

EyelessArseFace · 20/06/2023 20:45

Good quality cookware. I have a few Le Creuset pieces that are older than I am and still perfect. Decent shoes and sturdy well-made bags also last for ages and are more than worth the extra money. The holy grail of an umbrella that won't break or blow inside out (can't bring myself to fork out loads for a brolly though).

QuizzlyBears · 20/06/2023 21:07

Business class flights, Pai skincare, decent thread count sheets, and Heinz mayonnaise.
