I’ll start, McCain frozen jacket potatoes. Supermarket own brand never cook through properly and it’s so handy to just have one in the freezer

Clinique Mascara, the tubing one.

Apple products - they last years. On eof my MacBookPros was bought in 2014 and is still used daily.

I agree on boots. OH bought a pair of boots from America in 2008 for £250, has worn them almost daily and they still look great when polished and never needed a repair - he has had to put cheap insoles in them mind. Same boots cost £500 new now.

My PC World basic desktop computer was bought in January 2013 and still going strong. £186 I recall. Use it everyday for several hours and has never let me down with a range of software applications running. I have Apple too.

I still wear boots originally new two generations ago, about 1947 IIRC. Made to measure for riding, handed down and still strong with the occasional restitching only.

Sweaty Betty gear - I bought three items today two of which were half price and I know they will last for years and not go out of shape!

Pamalot · 20/06/2023 19:54

Buying what you actually want not the cheaper version as you still end up wanting the original thing.

Bras

Aveeno products for baby/toddler

A couple of years ago, I would have said skincare (for me) but that’s not the case anymore. I started using a lot of the Aldi dupes and my skin looks fab, if I say so myself.

Sorry frozen jacket potatoes??? Just cook potatoes (for speed microwave for 7 mins and put in the oven/air fryer/under grill fir a few minutes to crisp

I live alone, and every so often I fancy a jacket potato for tea. Don't keep potatoes in and if I do then they don't last long especially in this weather
So it's easier to buy the frozen ones and avoid food waste

Elemis skincare. Since starting using it my skin has never looked better. It’s pricey so I buy it when it’s on offer or via selling groups on Facebook where you can buy it for 1/3rd the retail price.

QVC also do great deals when they have TSV - today's special value and great prices for complete sets. I need to stop looking at them as I already have too much!!

dd3wavegre · 20/06/2023 20:09

@ThursdayFreedom similar to an electric blanket but it goes under your bedsheet and over your mattress and it just incredible in the winter

Good quality wellies - nothing worsebthan cold, wet feet.
Winter coat.

Finish dishwasher tabs have been mentioned - agree.

WhatADrabCarpet · 20/06/2023 20:19

Ooh ! @LadyGardenersQuestionTime
I agree to the Niwakis

Also the best and most comfortable footwear ( I don't do stylish, only practical) and the best bedding ( not high grade Egyptian cotton either!)

Invest in your sofa... really, if you can.

And only buy chickpeas in jars, not tins.

Season0fTheWitch · 20/06/2023 20:21

Cars, meat, bread and coffee. I wear designer clothes and find supermarket brands wash better, buy expensive shoes and find clarks comfier, etc.
