Wee in the night as a house guest

Currently staying the weekend with friends to attend an event away from home.

I needed a wee in the night and friend has made it very clear that she's not very happy and thinks it's bad form. Apparently people can hold it in. (I was a quiet as possible but did put a light on and flush the loo due to time of the month)

Now feeling anxious about tonight which will probably make me need a wee even more!

I hate confrontation but don't know what to do. Advice/hints/perspective please

Your friend is being ridiculous. Good job I’m not there I have about 3.

trevthecat · 17/06/2023 09:38

This is ridiculous! I couldn't tell you the last time I went all night without a wee! I can't hold it till morning, I wouldn't be able to sleep.

Bringonthesunforthewashing · 17/06/2023 09:38

What?!!!

Of course you go for a wee if you need one.

Your ‘friend’ sounds like an idiot

Bearpawk · 17/06/2023 09:39

Id ask her outright what she expects you to do when you need to change flooring sanitary products in the middle of the night and need a pee. Soil her bedding ?
I also wouldn't be staying there again she sounds like an arsehole.

Bearpawk · 17/06/2023 09:40

I'd actually try and check into a local hotel or guest house because I'd feel so uncomfortable staying there

lalalalalalaleeee · 17/06/2023 09:40

I'd be off to a hotel. Your friend sounds mental

TheHorneSection · 17/06/2023 09:41

Yeah, I’d say that’s fine, you won’t go to the bathroom, where would she like the stained sheets and that in the morning after you haven’t been able to change you sanitary wear?

HelpMeGetThrough · 17/06/2023 09:41

I'd be packing my things and going.

Bloody ridiculous saying people can hold it in. I had three in the night (bloody annoying), but there is no way I'm holding it in for anyone.

starrynight21 · 17/06/2023 09:42

I'd move out and enjoy the local Air B+B . You "friend" is ridiculous - of course people need to wee in the night.

NotLovingWFH · 17/06/2023 09:44

Lol lucky I’m not there, I generally get up at least twice a night though I’d use my phone torch rather than put a light on.

Bonbon21 · 17/06/2023 09:45

I be peeing as loud and as often as possible tonight and if she comments in the morning tell her just how bad a host she is to make her guest feel so uncomfortable. Send her some ear plugs when you get home.. suggest where she can put them.

CanIbeRio · 17/06/2023 09:45

I don't think I've ever read anything more ridiculous!

britespark1 · 17/06/2023 09:45

Certainly couldn’t stay there again if it was me! How rude of her to make you feel bad! I have very heavy period and have to get up at least once a night to change.

cheese? · 17/06/2023 09:46

That's insane, I would fuck off home

exhaustedlongtime · 17/06/2023 09:47

Absolutely horrified reading this

TimeSlipMushroom · 17/06/2023 09:48

Wow! I was expecting to be told I am unreasonable not get unanimous support. I have a skewed sense of what's reasonable sometimes due to previous bad relationships.

Can't book in anywhere sadly due to everywhere being booked up due to the local event and am short on money and transport. Besides Ds would be really sad to leave his friends and it would be very awkward with friend.

I haven't explained to friend about being on my period as there were 3 teenage boys present and even though they obviously know about periods I didn't want to cause an awkward scene

Might not reply for a bit as getting ready to go to event. (Hopefully lots of loos there!!)

I wouldn't be staying with someone like that. I wake during the night to pee and it is so uncomfortable trying to hold it in I end up having to go.

gogohmm · 17/06/2023 09:50

What, ridiculous! I sometimes go twice ... all depends on whether I wake up and how much / what I've been drinking. Last night we were like yo yos (combination of hot weather = more liquids, a few rather enjoyable pints and being too hot to sleep)

Radiatorvalves · 17/06/2023 09:52

That’s bonkers. It does annoy me when DH has a loud poo in the en suite in the middle of the night. Might expect people to try and hold that it unless they have medical issues. But a wee? Perhaps ask your friend if she has a commode you could use in your room. (Joking). Which is what MIL has. DH job to empty. 🤢

cocksstrideintheevening · 17/06/2023 09:52

I wouldn't stay there.
I got up twice last night. I do tend to use my phone instead of turn the light on because my kids will wake up at anything

Berlinlover · 17/06/2023 09:53

Just tell her you have your period and can’t hold it. I was up six times last night thanks to my 16cm by 12cm fibroid and a UTI.

RampantIvy · 17/06/2023 09:55

I used to tell MIL off for being worried about using the loo at night. I told her that a) she didn't wake me up and b) her comfort was more important than mine.

Your friend is not being a very good host. I wouldn't stay with her again.

bumblefeline · 17/06/2023 09:56

I would never stay there ever again, in fact would question my whole friendship with such a strange person.

LaBefana · 17/06/2023 09:56

lalalalalalaleeee · 17/06/2023 09:40

I'd be off to a hotel. Your friend sounds mental

This is me, too. I'd draw the line at someone groaning with effort while having a crap and exclaiming in relief, but having a wee? That's batshit. Personally if I couldn't get a hotel room, I'd cancel the whole bloody thing, whatever the kids said, and if they were old enough, explain exactly why to them, boys included. And to the mad woman with the toilet complex.

Spidey66 · 17/06/2023 09:59

CanIbeRio · 17/06/2023 09:45

I don't think I've ever read anything more ridiculous!

My thoughts exactly.

Your friend is mental, though I'm impressed with her bladder control lol
