Wee in the night as a house guest

Currently staying the weekend with friends to attend an event away from home.

I needed a wee in the night and friend has made it very clear that she's not very happy and thinks it's bad form. Apparently people can hold it in. (I was a quiet as possible but did put a light on and flush the loo due to time of the month)

Now feeling anxious about tonight which will probably make me need a wee even more!

I hate confrontation but don't know what to do. Advice/hints/perspective please

Why would you hold it, that's not good for you. I get up at least once, sometimes 2 or 3 times.

Doone21 · 18/06/2023 21:44

Bloody hell what a bitch. Say you'll move into the hotel to save her the awfulness of your bladder or uterus inconveniencing her.

Batalax · 18/06/2023 23:27

So what happened?

marmb87 · 19/06/2023 12:11

Your friend is crazy. I am up twice a night since having kids. No way I could sleep comfortably with a full bladder. What a ridiculous request.

THEDEACON · 19/06/2023 12:15

Your friend is a ridiculous idiot would she prefer you wet the bed ?!

AuntieJune · 19/06/2023 12:21

None of my family routinely gets up in the night for a wee. I can see how if you're not used to the sound of it, it might wake you and you'd be annoyed if you couldn't get back to sleep.

BUT if I was that sensitive to the noise I wouldn't have houseguests, or I would use earplugs!

viques · 19/06/2023 12:23

Don’t flush next time. Leave everything for her to see, and try your best to have a poo too.

whynotwhatknot · 19/06/2023 14:57

how bathsit you cant tell people when to go to the toilet

my fil usual toilet wasnt working so when we stayed we had to use the en suite off his room

even he said if you have to go dont worry about it and that was having to walk through his bedroom

xogossipgirlxo · 19/06/2023 15:02

Wow, never heard about something so ridiculous. What a lovely friend. Is there a hotel you could book last minute?

hufflepuffbutrequestinggriffindor · 19/06/2023 21:51

Sounds like my MIL who thinks me and her son are both weird for needing the loo in the night (my DP often goes for poos in the night which is probably more annoying 🤢). I'd not be staying somewhere that I wasn't allowed to go to the loo, I've always needed to go in the night since I was a child (I'd rather that than wet the bed!).

wendyjoy · 22/06/2023 05:27

Absolutely ridiculous. Everyone is different.. she wouldn't cope with me.. I'm 64 and have a child size bladder.. it didn't grow from about age 6 to 10 l was told) l go on average 8 times a night. That's why l only drink water and decaff tea.
But most people go at least once per night.
