Anyone local know what’s going on?

Looks like a huge response.

Looks very concerning, who are all the men in maroon and black gear?

Mydoghealsmyheart · 13/06/2023 09:24

I think Sky News said they’re Inter agency liaison teams. It’s so strange that nobody seems to know what’s happened.

Childcare47 · 13/06/2023 09:26

City centre closed, tram network closed.

Police, fire service, special forces all on the scene.

Ongoing incident since the early hours of this morning apparently.

Odd that there seems to be nothing on BBC news about this though

BBC is reporting it, you must have missed it.

Bomb disposal.

Eggyhair · 13/06/2023 09:30

@PrancerandDancer BBC Breakfast kept a running breaking news story on it!

RudsyFarmer · 13/06/2023 09:32

So I guess we are to assume a terrorist incident?

I always thought the likelihood of Russian terrorist in the U.K would be higher since we actively started arming Ukraine.

AngelAurora · 13/06/2023 09:33

No ambulances there that I have seen. I think there raiding or removing someone and are containing the area. Or a threat has come in within the vicinity.

pickledandpuzzled · 13/06/2023 09:33

There's an AIBU thread too.

AskMeMore · 13/06/2023 09:34

Sad if we are getting terrorist incidents back. We had so many in Britain before the pandemic and then they all stopped. I assume that no one is hurt and they are dealing with deactivating a bomb.

supersonicginandtonic · 13/06/2023 09:34

@AngelAurora apparently there are loads and oriole have been taken to A&E at QMC. My colleagues mum is a nurse there. They are pulling nurses from wards

EyelessArseFace · 13/06/2023 09:29

Bomb disposal.

They’re National inter-agency liaison officer (NILO)

BeginningToLookALotLike · 13/06/2023 09:36

I was really hoping it was just a training exercise, sadly this seems less likely now.

Bananarepublic · 13/06/2023 09:36

It's being reported that someone has been arrested with a knife next to a white van after having been tapered.

Paramedic team, born of the Manchester bombing.

Mydoghealsmyheart · 13/06/2023 09:37

They just had a man talking to Kay Burley on Sky News and he said a car had driven into people, stabbed and killed them. He got swiftly shut down by her and told not to speculate.

Childcare47 · 13/06/2023 09:38

The only bit of eyewitness information (and this was via GB News) was someone interviewed saying they’d heard gunshots at 530am and seen someone tasered and arrested.

That doesn’t explain the massive response.

Perhaps they have intervened and stoped a terrorist attack.

Unusual for there to not be eyewitnesses - which is good I suppose, as it suggests people haven’t been hurt.

no idea, so let’s all wildly speculate.

They're NILO, national inter agency liaison officers.

MermaidEyes · 13/06/2023 09:41

Who knows but to me it has to be more than a random stabbing or shooting as Nottingham is full of those on any given day and they don't close down half the city centre for it.

Tipintorecession · 13/06/2023 09:22

Part of the fire and rescue team. You can see it says "rescue" on their helmets.

Carpediem15 · 13/06/2023 09:42

It is a large area of Nottingham to be closed for a minor incident and for so long.

Hawkins0001 · 13/06/2023 09:42

ThankmelaterOkay · 13/06/2023 09:39

no idea, so let’s all wildly speculate.

Even with the full truth people still do that either way
