Coke is pointless

Whatajokr · 12/06/2023 14:06

I'm late 40s. On Saturday I had 3 lines of coke over the space of 2 hours. First time in my life I've ever had drugs.

It did absolutely nothing for me. Pointless waste of time and money.

My friend, who takes it recreationally every few months, asked if I could feel the buzz, or the energy it gave me. Nope.

Nothing. Nada. Zilch.

I'll be sticking to alcohol as my drug of choice. Why people waste their money on that stuff I'll never know.

Sounds like your mates need a new dealer Grin

PearlClutzsche · 12/06/2023 14:12

There are far bigger and more important reasons to avoid taking illegal drugs, especially opiates, than “it didn’t do anything for me”.

Presumably, had you felt any “good” effects you’d have been happy to continue to support a murderous, violent and exploitative trade.

Seconded.

cocksstrideintheevening · 12/06/2023 14:14

Didn't do it for me either. I'm late 40s and it wouldn't cross my mind to even try it. I did it back at uni.

I'd rather a glass of wine and a spliff.

Or a coca cola from a glass bottle with ice and lemon.

Itsvalentino · 12/06/2023 14:16

I tried it once, I wanted to see why my husband and father of my children couldn't give it up for his family, why he chose to spend his wages on it, leaving us short every month, I needed to see if it was worth it, it wasn't, I felt nothing.

Seasonofthewitch83 · 12/06/2023 14:20

I loved in in my early 20s, was cheaper than booze in NYC where I spent alot of my time partying.

Can be very hard to 'stop' during the night as you do not get tired - I had to knock myself out with sleeping tablets.

Not worth bothering with as you get older and def not a 'Buzz' drug.

Cosycover · 12/06/2023 14:21

It did nothing at all?
I take it it wasn't prop then? 😂

TooOldForThisNonsense · 12/06/2023 14:23

God why bother getting to your late 40s and trying that. I’ve never taken it and never will, I’m 50. I find it hugely morally problematic as well as the illegality aspect and god knows what it could do to your health.

Thatladdo · 12/06/2023 14:24

😆The bigger issue is why in your late 40's you decided you needed drugs in your life.

Never had drugs before, banged 3 lines in 2 hours and felt nothing.
That wasnt coke. Or anything.
Wow.

Mylifeislikeaboatrace · 12/06/2023 14:29

I tried it once, it made me sneeze😆

Seasonofthewitch83 · 12/06/2023 14:31

This might be outing but when my friends and I were younger and def not in the business of acquiring drugs, we crushed up a bunch of Proplus and snorted it. Was hilarious until my friend realised she has lost the ability to blink.....

tattygrl · 12/06/2023 14:31

Sounds like it wasn't very good, or maybe you have ADHD? Some people with ADHD find it doesn't effect them and/or actually makes them feel more normal 😄

I came here expecting a thread about a refreshing beverage!

Quite.

Yeah, worthless stuff. Even when it's good it's 20 minutes of caffeinated self esteem followed by a one hour hangover.

But the UK MDMA drought has lifted (or so I hear) so it should be a glorious summer.

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 12/06/2023 14:39

It's because the further up north the more it's cut down with other crap.
YANBU though! Would rather waste my money on better things.

SageRosemary · 12/06/2023 14:40

@Whatajokr I recommend you read American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins, it's a work of fiction but gives great insight into the non-party side of cocaine - people may have died so that you and your friend could indulge yourself on Saturday, it's a filthy trade and you and your friend are part of the problem.

It’s never good. For every gram of cocaine snorted in the UK, a person in Columbia will have died. People who take cocaine hold some of the responsibility for multiple atrocities, barbarism, civil war and environmental disaster.
Anyone with the slightest hint of a functioning conscience would never touch cocaine.

Says the person no doubt writing this on a phone with a lithium battery mined by a child.

@PearlClutzsche - cocaine isn't an opiate

I refuse to be quoted on this but I don't think this is true, a friend has had some good stuff in Scotland. In their experience it's more about the price you pay and if you get off a dealer you know.

Wyndam · 12/06/2023 14:45

Its cheaper than Ozemic tho.

Quite 😂Wearing clothes stitched by children in factories working punishing hours with no health and safety regulations to speak of. Food produced by exploited workers, meat killed by traumatised slaughterhouse workers. Our whole capitalist system is fueled by dirty production methods that value human life precisely zero unless it's producing something to sell. The drugs industry is only different in that it's illegal and capitalists don't overtly profit from it.

Yes, and using oil from a tanker that probably crushed a polar bear.
But that’s not really the point though is it? The cocaine industry is built on violence and murder. End of.

No it’s not, but its industry is as bad - possibly worse - than the opiate trade.
