I think it suits him. He’s made his millions, got the mansion and doesn’t have to do the tedious work of being an MP. What’s not to like. Probably feels it is bringing him even closer to his hero Churchill who was pushed out of active politics at various stages in his life and retired to his country house to write and think of ways of making money.

Didn’t he kick Churchill’s grandson out of the Tory party at one point? Nice thing to do to the family of your hero…

It's just one less job to worry about I suppose

Shouldn't mps have some sort of work contract so that people like Nadine
Dorrie's can't sod off to paid TV gigs whilst claiming MPs pay

Crikeyalmighty · 09/06/2023 21:03

@Nowwheresmykeys because there's an awful lot of naive people out there who think it's like Love Island and you vote for the person who is 'a bit of a laugh' and of course another whole bunch who basically benefit from the Tory's light touch on the very wealthy

StaunchMomma · 09/06/2023 21:03

What a DAY!

Details of Trump's indictment are sooooooo bad!! Like WOAH bad!!

Rishi refuses Nadine a peerage so she strops off, a couple of hours after saying she wouldn't ever resign as she didn't want to put her constituents through a by-election, on camera!

Now Bozo has fecked off after enquiry finds he mislead parliament!!

It's like CHRISTMAS 💃💃💃

Exasperatednow · 09/06/2023 21:04

Trumpian.

He didn't get what he wanted and now he's having a tantrum.

BitOutOfPractice · 09/06/2023 21:06

@ShandaLear you’ve put me off my Friday night wine 🤮

TheNestedIf · 09/06/2023 21:09

Well, I'm disappointed. I was looking forward to Johnson getting a Portillo style reckoning next general election. This way, it's his choice to go and he can carry on making believe the public love him. Still, there will probably be Mogg's downfall to enjoy on election night, I suppose.

neversaid · 09/06/2023 21:10

Can't believe he thinks that highlighting the fact that only 17 million people in a country of 66 million (approx) voted for Brexit.
That only highlights what an undemocratic act of national harm Brexit was and how few people in the Uk really wanted Brexit. A very small fraction, Boris, and not really something you should be highlighting as part of your legacy.

A tantrump 😊

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 09/06/2023 21:11

Good riddance.

His petulant resignation letter says it all really...right out of the Trump playbook!

mayorofcasterbridge · 09/06/2023 21:12

How the mighty are fallen lol! Trump and Bojo.

Loopyloo159 · 09/06/2023 21:12

Kendodd · 09/06/2023 20:44

Couldn't agree more. His character has been crystal clear for years.

Yep…my faith in human nature and the British public was destroyed by having that chancer voted in as PM !

LizzieSiddal · 09/06/2023 21:12

Yes and let’s not forget that he was found by the Parliamentary standards committee that he had LIED to Parliament.

Im so glad he’s gone but he’s got away with making such a mess of this country. The disaster of Brexit and Party’s in lockdown will be what history remembers him for.

SerendipityJane · 09/06/2023 21:14

LittleBearPad · 09/06/2023 20:23

He’ll look to be adopted as the candidate in Nadine’s constituency. Safer seat.

I don't think there are any safe Tory seats right now.

Isn't he Sir Smuggy now?

CheshireCat1 · 09/06/2023 21:15

First couple of dominoes

maltravers · 09/06/2023 21:16

hang out the bunting! He was a terrible PM, lazy, mendacious and narcissistic, only in it for himself. I’m assuming the committee looking at Partygate was going to suspend him which would trigger a by election, which he would probably then lose as on top of being a crap PM he’s reportedly never in his constituency. Good riddance and please don’t come back Boris!

StormShadow · 09/06/2023 21:17

What a useless piece of shit. He'll have his eye on a better seat than Uxbridge now.

pointythings · 09/06/2023 21:18

I need to make sure I save a day of leave so I can stay up the night after the next GE and do terrible things to my liver. Though a shot for every Tory seat lost is not on the cards because I'd end up dead.

TheNestedIf · 09/06/2023 21:19

jgw1 · 09/06/2023 21:14

Isn't he Sir Smuggy now?

Unfortunately, yes, but I don't think he's leaving his constituency? I will be even more disappointed if I'm wrong.

A tantrump 😊

You win the internet !

the80sweregreat · 09/06/2023 21:20

Only waited for 13 years ..
