He's lying again.

It would be more newsworthy if he ever wasn’t lying!

Anyone know why this may be? I’m assuming because they’ve found something in the covid enquiry and he knows if he didn’t quit as an MP that he’d be sacked?

The draft partygate report recommended a more than 10 days suspension. He was going to be facing a recall election - which he would have lost.

jojo1067 · 09/06/2023 20:24

I listened to Nadine on Talk Radio being interviewed about why she resigned. Very vague but it's now clear that she knew her hero Johnson was about to resign as an MP.

I'm no fan of Johnson, his behaviour has been disgraceful, but I do believe the Tory party and the Labour Party are both frightened by his popularity and determined to get rid of him. I suspect they may rue the day.

I can think of no good reason to hope that he is ever anywhere near Parliament or power again.

Bovrilla · 09/06/2023 20:26

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Whu · 09/06/2023 20:26

Did anyone else wonder if they are named as being found in a compromising position together during party gate?!

jojo1067 · 09/06/2023 20:28

@LittleBearPad I'm not a Johnson fan - I've just realised my post might have made it sound like I was. Aaagh!

SweetSakura · 09/06/2023 20:28

Yet still not taking responsibility for his behaviour I note

Classic narcissist

Popular with idiots. The man is a morally bankrupt dosser.

Always makes me suspicious in what reports and messages have been found for the covid enquiry. Think the shit will hit the fan so he and Nadine are going before they are pushed.

Agreed.
Nadine says there's a reason but won't speak about it now.Confused

Bet he’s going to start his own party

But it won't be a party though.
Just a work meeting.
With wine in a fridge.

Yes that's my guess too!

Good fucking riddance.

Totally agree

He is upset:

In his statement, he added: “They know perfectly well that when I spoke in the Commons I was saying what I believed sincerely to be true and what I had been briefed to say, like any other minister.
“They know that I corrected the record as soon as possible; and they know that I and every other senior official and minister - including the current Prime Minister and then occupant of the same building, Rishi Sunak - believed that we were working lawfully together.
“I have been an MP since 2001. I take my responsibilities seriously. I did not lie, and I believe that in their hearts the Committee know it. But they have wilfully chosen to ignore the truth because from the outset their purpose has not been to discover the truth, or genuinely to understand what was in my mind when I spoke in the Commons.”

Bye bye Boris

SilenceOfTheGoats · 09/06/2023 20:34

He'd rather run away than face the music. He should've left ages ago anyway

viques · 09/06/2023 20:35

First they came for Trump……

cakeorwine · 09/06/2023 20:35

It's all about Brexit

Boris Johnson claimed it was an attempt to reverse Brexit lay behind the Privileges Committee finding he had misled parliament.
He said it was his “faith in the impartiality of our systems” which led him to commissioner the former civil servant Sue Gray to investigate parties in Downing Street.
“It is clear that my faith has been misplaced”, Johnson said. “Of course, it suits the Labour Party, the Liberal Democrats, and the SNP to do whatever they can to remove me from parliament.
“Sadly, as we saw in July last year, there are currently some Tory MPs who share that view. I am not alone in thinking that there is a witch hunt underway, to take revenge for Brexit and ultimately to reverse the 2016 referendum result.
“My removal is the necessary first step, and I believe there has been a concerted attempt to bring it about. I am afraid I no longer believe that it is any coincidence that Sue Gray - who investigated gatherings in Number 10 - is now the chief of staff designate of the Labour leader.”

Pity it is not to a prison cell. The only argument I can put forward as to why he should not hang is my lifelong opposition to the death penalty. He is a mass killer in all but name, caused more harm than Harold Shipman.

It’s almost as though if you lie, cheat, break the law and are morally corrupt and bankrupt that eventually it catches up with you!

It isn't though. It's about the fact he partied while we were locked down and then lied about it.

He's just being a big baby and refusing to take responsibility for his actions

cakeorwine · 09/06/2023 20:36

"He said it was his “faith in the impartiality of our systems” which led him to commissioner the former civil servant Sue Gray to investigate parties in Downing Street."

He must have forgot that he asked the Cabinet Secretary first - and then there were complaints as people thought that might not be impartial.
