Chub rub 😖

Bemyclementine · 07/06/2023 07:45

I've put some weight on, and for the first time am understanding the agony if chub rub. I'm wearing a dress to work today (because my trousers are too tight...) and plan to go fir a walk at lunchtime. Last time though, in the warmer weather, it was bloody awful!

I am trying to lose weight and also have started exercising 4 times a week so I'm hoping to banish it quickly (it seems to be the last half a stone that's made a difference)

For today though, what can I do?

Roll on deodorant

justanothermanicmonday1 · 07/06/2023 07:46

I’m 31 weeks pregnant and wear shorts under my dress to avoid this 😆 so uncomfortable so I can relate OP!

MaverickSnoopy · 07/06/2023 07:47

For today get some deodorant and roll it between your legs where they rub, it will reduce it if not stop it.

You can buy shorts from snag tights that are like tights and also adjust to heat.

Newnamenewname109870 · 07/06/2023 07:48

Cycling shorts or there’s this lush talcum powder type thing (I can’t remember the name but it’s in a little white bottle, can anyone else remember?)

Antsinmypantsneedtodance · 07/06/2023 07:51

Snag chub rub shorts! Best thing ever. Light material so not too hot like cycling shorts. Come in fun colours too if that's your thing. Or conservative ones if not.

endofthelinefinally · 07/06/2023 07:53

Cut the lower legs off an old pair of tights. Cut them off just above knee level as they do ride up. Wear the tights like long legged knickers. Works very well.

Bemyclementine · 07/06/2023 07:54

Thanks, I'm not going to get the shorts for today! Also I'm really hoping to lose some weight and not need them. I dont thinknive got any suitable shorts I coukd wear under a dress but I do have roll on so will try that, thank you.

This!! Seriously life changers! Sexy they are not but then again neither are sore thighs. Highly recommend them.

endofthelinefinally · 07/06/2023 07:56

Do the tights today. So easy.
Then when you have time to shop, Sloggi do really comfortable long knickers. Lightweight and cool.

MrsMitford3 · 07/06/2023 07:59

M&S have some shorts in their shapewear range that are fab

Lealea2023 · 07/06/2023 08:03

M&S do some chaffing shorts too. I used to use a bit of talc which helped.

caramelbambii · 07/06/2023 08:04

To lose weight, just make sure you exercise more than what your calorie intake is. Do the 12:3:30 work out believe me, it does wonders without having to go crazy. It's the treadmill at incline 12, speed 3 for 30 minutes. Also the stair master! Just those 2 alone has you lose the pounds quick. It's all about consistency and rest days are important otherwise your body doesn't have time to recover and shed off what you have worked for. Weighted exercise's are good too so that you can tighten what you are losing but keep a nice tone, firm shape. (I know this post wasn't about exercise but it's the only part of it I could comment on). I don't do anything to relieve the rubbing as it only becomes red and sore if I'm walking for a while in the heat which I won't really do anyway and our weather is no good haha so I don't go through it much but when I have and it's been very sore nappy cream relieves it and made it go away quick!

Sosbanfachtheresatellyinmybath · 07/06/2023 08:04

Liquid talc from home bargains.

Bemyclementine · 07/06/2023 08:05

@endofthelinefinally oh I didn't think that would work but I'm sure I have a pair I could sacrifice

Also don’t be embarrassed, it’s often down to body type. Even when I’m an 8/10 I get it a bit and definitely at a size 10. If you do a lot of walking in hot weather and you have thighs, it happens!

FannythePinkFlamingo · 07/06/2023 08:07

M&S shape wear shorts. Less than £20 for two pairs.

Bemyclementine · 07/06/2023 08:07

@caramelbambii I can't get to a gym (single parent) but am running (the dc can come along) and have home workouts (les mills) but thank you for the advice. I have been struggling for a while, but seemed to have found my major thankfully.

The thicker the better. I have done this as a temporary measure and it was fine.

Bemyclementine · 07/06/2023 08:09

@Newnamenewname109870 blimey I'd be annoyed if I got it at size 10! I suppose a lot of my activity in warmer weather involves shorts rather than dresses, but having an office job now I'm trying to do what I can to help hence lunchtime walls in dresses!

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 07/06/2023 08:10

Cut up an old pair of leggings (thicker than tights and stay in place better) and wear them under your dress.

NoLostCause · 07/06/2023 08:11

I wear thin, stretchy anti-chafing shorts under dresses. Not shapewear (uncomfortable) or cycling shorts (too hot). I have these from Amazon but you can get them from most places - I think Matalan sell them.

When I think about my DP, his closely-set, bigger, and copiously furry legs, and his complete incomprehension when I mentioned thigh rubbing pain, I think that this must be what all that new thigh hair is for. It cannot be an accident that middle-age spread and… the other kind of spread happen at about the same time.

Bemyclementine · 07/06/2023 08:18

😆 oh god you might be right Off! I am 45....

mynameiscalypso · 07/06/2023 08:19

I wear chub rub shorts at whatever size I am (has varied between an 8 and a 16 in recent years). I just find it more comfortable. A bit like big pants, once you've tried them, it's difficult to back.

Bemyclementine · 07/06/2023 08:30

@mynameiscalypso I've just done the cut off tights thing and I think I might be with you, its a revelation! Also, at totm just feels more secure somehow
