Holly's Monologue.

Did anyone just watch Holly on This Morning when it started?

All felt very rehearsed and wooden. Josie has obviously been told to take the lead now.

I'm wondering if they will mix & match the presenters going forward, I think that would be a good idea. Then no one becomes complacent and some totally new presenters would be like a breath of fresh air.

Ah here.

I live in Ireland, have never watched the programme and even I heard about the runner a couple of years ago.

Holly knew.

@Aquarius1234 What is her true personality? I’m quite intrigued by what she’s *Really like

What has she done?

I can’t stand Amanda Holden. For Holden - any excuse to do a pseudo-porny pose. Katie Price territory, just less honest. Gah!

Stalkedbyzombies · 06/06/2023 17:54

She will be helping HWs cause if she keeps it up. She is no more popular.

MichaelAndEagle · 05/06/2023 18:31

I think they (this morning/itv) think they are a lot more important to people than they actually are.
I've followed the story but I don't feel personally hurt and betrayed or anything.
Weird.

I hear you @MichaelAndEagle. I don’t feel any betrayal but then I want a believer IYKWIM.

There’s an article in The Spectator by Damien Reilly. One of his conclusions was:

”And, yes, he lied to his dear viewers too – but perhaps they are a little complicit in that one, if we’re being honest, for being so quick to believe in the image and personal branding daytime television foists on you? These people aren’t your friends – and they don’t care about you. Deep down, we all know that.”

Paxed · 06/06/2023 18:11

I’m not a believer I mean!

Oh come on. This has nothing to do with a gay extra marital affair in the workplace or toxic behaviour in the workplace. ITV, his agents, sponsors etc would not ditch him for that.

This has everything to do with an old man messaging underage boys on Snapchat etc and going on to having sex with at least one of them (apparently when it was legal🙄). And a brother who also liked underage boys and has just been convicted of child abuse

I did not that PS was doing that Shock I’m wondering if there is more that has been kept under wraps because it just didn’t make sense why PS was removed so swiftly. I don’t think it’s fair to bring up his brother because they are two different people.

Stalkedbyzombies · 06/06/2023 19:11

Didn't you sense the genuine hatred and disgust in Holly's voice and demeanour?
She wouldn't be that unforgiving if he had simply had a conventional, straightforward fling with another consenting adult.

Willitheanicesunset · 06/06/2023 19:33

It’s obviously much much more than a simple affair for her to act like this, surely?!

What has Amanda Holden done?

pippanorthwind · 06/06/2023 19:51

Didn't you sense the genuine hatred and disgust in Holly's voice and demeanour?

🤣. Not really. There wasn't much genuine about it.

What???

Binglebong · 06/06/2023 21:25

If it is true that she went on holiday with her teenage kids and with PS and his brother after he knew (and I'm giving PS the benefit of the doubt here) that brother had sex with a 16 year old I can definitely understand why there was suddenly tension and a loss of friendship. Finding out that someone who you considered your friend put your children at risk must be horrifying - I suspect that's why HW jettisoned PS.

If she did not know who else was on the holiday I can understand, otherwise as parent isn't it her responsibly who she has around her children?

SconesCreamJam · 06/06/2023 20:28

What???

She's done a sarcastic, 'are you okay speech?'

Binglebong · 06/06/2023 22:34

She went with someone she knew and a person they effectively vouched for. To then find out that they knew he was attracted to people your child's age would be pretty shocking.

Agree. It's getting ridiculous

You say yourself you didn't know that Phil was messaging teenage boys on Snapchat. There is evidence of screenshots and he confirmed this with the excuse that he "likes engaging with his fans." You can't not have all the facts then blame other people being quick to judge. I don't have all the facts either but the ones that are out there mean I most definitely judge him.

Sorry this makes no sense. I am talking about the justice system acting on facts.

Sunshineandchill · 06/06/2023 23:20

In fact, why has he not been arrested yet? I’m not witch hunting I’m just interested in society’s approach to these things and the justice systems approach. As said before, some of us like to just debate and discuss, without accusations

Please do share your facts because it might make the matter a lot more clearer. At the moment, it seems very confusing and there are many alluding to things that I didn’t realise had happened.

I didn’t know HW has kids who are in their teens. I can imagine if HW believed what she was told she might feel personally betrayed especially if the “affair” took place when the runner may have been the same age as her children.

I also didn’t know they had holiday homes near each other but I read it on MN. So they clearly were really good friends. I don’t see why HW should lose her job just because people think she knew things that she might possibly have not known. She might just have believed what she was told.

There is no evidence of Philip Schofield 'grooming' anyone, it's all rumour and speculation. If he has it will come out eventually but so far, it doesn't seem so.

You are witch hunting.

I do not understand why so many want this man to be guilty and are so easily impressed by the media. Haven't we seen all this before with other well known people? The media are disgusting but so are those who positively gloat over a whiff of scandal and love to embroider it. It is an unhealthy trait.

As for Holly Willoughby, there was nothing wrong with what she said on television despite it obviously being scripted (I don't watch the programme but did see the clip on youtube, prompted by threads on MN). What is wrong is that she was forced to say anything at all! It must be very difficult if a friend is in trouble but hardly her fault.

Inkanta · 07/06/2023 11:43

I'm glad she said something. Scripted yes but she returned to work and said something and it was relevant. She's done her bit now. She looks shell shocked to me.

Understandable that people joke about her starting off 'are you ok'. I suspect she probably is 'shaken' though and genuinely is in recovery from a friendship with PS - a person with probable narcissistic traits.

Paxed · 07/06/2023 11:56

Well said @LBFseBrom and @Inkanta .

Its nice to see some thoughtfulness and sanity on MN sometimes.

user01082312345 · 07/06/2023 12:02

I'm glad other tv presenters are mocking Holly's speech.

Peverellshire · 07/06/2023 12:15

She's certainly in a difficult position but will be teflon coated, no one in a key position in TV, as per her, gets that far without a very steely core and without having clear sightedness over career goals. Who can blame her re: actions taken, she won't have much say over what she can do/display and will be trying to be pragmatic and make the best of things/move on. I too know those that know her and she's clearly very professional, career focused and private. Good for her.

I hear a lot about women in the industry who are apparently unfriendly/cold etc but often this is because they are wary about gossip IME. A sensible approach. IME people expect them to overshare on set and in private.

To add, someone posted upthread said HW will be worried about tonight's supper and the washing - she won't be. She has help. IMO too many assume that their lives are parallel with the same stresses etc and then beat themselves up when they fall short, as they see it. It is obviously easily to look groomed and together when you have help re: grooming/hair/make-up and the practicalities. She's also very attractive.

As for anything 'more' the truth will out, it always does in the end.
