Holly's Monologue.

Did anyone just watch Holly on This Morning when it started?

All felt very rehearsed and wooden. Josie has obviously been told to take the lead now.

I'm wondering if they will mix & match the presenters going forward, I think that would be a good idea. Then no one becomes complacent and some totally new presenters would be like a breath of fresh air.

Really weird speech. 'How are you?' Envy

I looked out of interest and she came across as insincere and unbelievable.

From what I read on here they should have both gone after the queue jumping debacle.

Sorry if I missed it, what queue jumping debacle?

She's trying to save her own arse
Only cares about her career sitting on a sofa talking shite and getting paid loads to whore out products

She was fucked either way. Had she ignored it and not said anything there would be outrage. But whatever she said and however she said it, she was always going to be slagged off, not believed and called insincere.

I feel pretty bad for her. It wasn't her who did it yet shes being tarred with the same brush as PS. Maybe she knew, maybe she didn't. Maybe she'd heard whisperings but kept her nose out. Who knows?

I haven’t watched the episode, but I do feel sorry for her. I just thought that she probably believed the lies. I’m a bit surprised about the whole thing. I understand there was an age gap, but I can’t seem to get my head around why PS left. Is it because he lied about the ”relationship” full stop? Or is it because he lied about when it started? Or is it because he somehow abused his power and took advantage of his position of authority? Or is it simply because it was ill-advised due to the age gap and the level of seniority? I think I read somewhere on Mumsnet, that the runner was at one point PS’s personal assistant at one and then suddenly was moved to Loose Women. I don’t fully understand why people are annoyed with HW and what is it the PS is supposed to have done.

FloofCloud · 05/06/2023 17:29

That script went through a gaggle of lawyers before she poorly read it.

EVERYONE knew what was happening ... so she lied too ... for her own career and snowy white (pah!) facade

Exactly. I couldn't decide if she believed what she was dating or was just reading an autocue of what she was told to say.
But I quite this morning I'm in the background when I'm working so prob not a true mumsnetter

NCTDN · 05/06/2023 17:36

Saying not dating. Oh how I wish for an edit button...

StaunchMomma · 05/06/2023 17:52

She clearly struggled to get through it but that whole 'How are YOU' bit was so condescending!

As if the public are scarred by Schofield being a wrong 'un 🙄

JeandeServiette · 05/06/2023 18:26

I'm astounded they have any viewers left. Do people like being spoken to like they're halfwits?

I think they (this morning/itv) think they are a lot more important to people than they actually are.
I've followed the story but I don't feel personally hurt and betrayed or anything.
Weird.

Marcipex · 05/06/2023 13:19

It was so insincere I was cringing.

So much for’Be kind’.

It’s a total witch hunt because he’s gay.

I didn't see the Holly thing this morning but agree it is a witch hunt. Some of the accusations against this man are beyond belief! I don't know why I'm surprised, we've had it all before with other people in the media.

lemmein · 05/06/2023 18:36

I don't blame HW for the actions of PS, but I do think she's been badly damaged by it and I don't think there's any coming back from that level of controversy. This Morning is supposed to be a lighthearted 'fun' magazine type show; to have one of the main presenters accused of grooming on the show is so far away from its image I don't see how it can carry on.

It's a bit like Ant and Dec - it's difficult to see them now (well, Ant!) as the cheeky, friendly pranksters full of naughty banter when you know off-screen it's very different to their (his!) public personas.

There's some shows that can get away with their presenters being less than lily-white...'wholesome' family shows just can't.

I don't think it mattered what Holly said today, rightly or wrongly she's been damaged by her association with PS. it was blatantly obvious from her intro that PS has taken a huge pay-off from itv to accept 100% of the blame. Her monologue was othering him, separating him and his actions from the show - making everyone else involved seem like victims too of his 'lies'....I don't think it worked.

woodlandtrees · 05/06/2023 18:51

Imagine if we all replied when she asked are you ok ?

FFS cringe city !

heartsinvisiblefury · 05/06/2023 19:01

The 'are you OK' bit was so cringy. Does she really think the British public are all in tears and in despair because Phillip Schofield is no longer on everything on ITV? They really do think they are something special.

BarleySugars · 05/06/2023 19:03

All i heard was 'pleeease dont let me lose my jobbb'

Hopingforagreatescape · 05/06/2023 19:09

I too thought it was a weird speech. The person whose comments have been the most relevant and decent have been those of Caroline Flack's mother. Honestly I'm not sure what ITV and the press are up to. What is the point of it all? Just some vile schadenfreude? It's beginning to be quite sickening.

UselessFecker · 05/06/2023 19:10

Holly Go Gaslightly

shadypines · 05/06/2023 19:13

First the speeches by Hammond and O'Leary and now this from HW, what on earth are producers thinking of?
This was a private matter that should be investigated separately and not suddenly become part of the show. If people like HW want to put out statements that's another matter but having this circus side show on PS behaviour is unprofessional, the programme looks like a laughing stock.

Whenwillglorioussummercome · 05/06/2023 13:54

I knew about Phil and the runner two years ago. I’m a total random. There is no chance in hell that Holly didn’t. There’s obviously a big exercise going on to rescue her from being dragged into this but I’m not sure it’s going to succeed.

I don't watch the show, don't live in the UK and knew about the runner ages ago too. From Mumsnet I think.

Whenwillglorioussummercome · 05/06/2023 19:23

First, Holly and all the others on This Morning are being emetic. And hypocritical as they knew this was happening.

Second, what is obvious is that Schofield was deeply unpopular with many people for being a bastard to work for - and again this hasn’t exactly been a secret. His bad behaviour here has been the catalyst for him to go before further embarrassment and Holly jettisoned him to try to keep her own position. But she is caught up in the accusations of ‘toxic’ behaviour on the production and she must know she’s dancing on very thin ice (pun intended).

So her statement this morning was unpleasant to watch because it lacked any integrity, or authenticity, and treated its audience like fools.

Stalkedbyzombies · 05/06/2023 19:27

Her public persona relies on her being all sweetness and light and spiritual and wholesome. She knows that if any of that is doubted then there is nothing left upon which to base her brand. We will never know if PS has told her to 'go for it' behind the scenes to save her own skin (because he has lost his own skin in the game).

Beaverbridge · 05/06/2023 19:29

Holly addressing the nation!!!!. Talking to viewers as if we were half wits. Hope your ok??!!!. Wtaf. Worst cost of living in decades, families, pensioners worried about heating etc. Who gives a feck who's shagging who on that or any other tv show. Plenty of them will have sucked knobs to get where they are. Rant Over!.

Stalkedbyzombies · 05/06/2023 19:30

She's one of us now. She's even offering free timeshares to her £8million Algarve villa

... not really! 😂

Vitriolinsanity · 05/06/2023 19:32

How are YOU?

Well Holly, if I'm totally honest, fine.

Ive got to be totally honest when I say that despite your and ITV's tedious, over publicised and obvious attempts to limit seats in the This Morning Lifeboat, I still managed to get up and dressed this morning. Im not sure from where I found the strength, but you know, the real world where real people live is just about coping. We've got this!

It's lovely you got a little week in the sun, although I imagine you and your agent spent quite a lot of time trying to work out how best to hang on to your job and sponsors, whilst simultaneously chatting up the Beeb. That's the sort of thing that happens when you've super-publicly conflated work mates with real mates.

Anyway, you made it through your hellish day, nice new dress and a new sofa bestie for you. Every cloud and all.

Maybe when all this is over you could reflect that it only takes a bit of trial by SM and TV world is over.

Thanks for your thoughts though
