Holly's Monologue.

Did anyone just watch Holly on This Morning when it started?

All felt very rehearsed and wooden. Josie has obviously been told to take the lead now.

I'm wondering if they will mix & match the presenters going forward, I think that would be a good idea. Then no one becomes complacent and some totally new presenters would be like a breath of fresh air.

Of course it was rehearsed. She wasn’t going to blag it was she? What a weird criticism.

i thought she sounded very emotional and a bit nervous, you could hear the adrenaline in her voice.

whatever the wrongs are of Philips behaviour, it wasn’t Hollys fault so let’s stop trying to make her responsible for a man’s actions shall we?

People aren't blaming her, just pointing out it's implausible that she was telling the truth. Bearing in mind PS's behaviour with the runner has been discussed on MN for several years, the veracity of what she's been saying is questionable.

She sounded emotional I expect because she's been shitting it that her closeness to him will bring her down to.

I don't think what he did was right. I think he deserved to lose his career and his family. The law is an ass, but he probably should be prosecuted for grooming.

But dear God, they need to leave him alone now instead of letting a vapid narcissist dance on his grave on live TV.

This is all starting to feel very uncomfortable and I think in years to come there'll be a massive backlash. Not on his behaviour leading up to the revelations, but how he's been publicly hounded since.

I just viewed the BBC article, they have a clip of Holly and of Phillip, I only watched a little of him, why did the BBC try to help him defend his reputation, he was no longer their employee? Very odd.

Whenwillglorioussummercome · 05/06/2023 13:54

I knew about Phil and the runner two years ago. I’m a total random. There is no chance in hell that Holly didn’t. There’s obviously a big exercise going on to rescue her from being dragged into this but I’m not sure it’s going to succeed.

I agree. She just sounded desperately self serving trying to distance herself now.

Her crime is that she believed someone she trusted. i think we have all done that at some point.

But sure, let's make it the fault on the woman.

onemorerose · 05/06/2023 14:02

There’s no way Holly didn’t know what was going on. This speech was purely to save her own ass with the gullible viewers.

adriftinadenofvipers · 05/06/2023 14:06

Backstabbing fake. She could have left it at she didn’t know (clearly untrue) and said she was worried about him. The whole ‘they’ thing was just weird. He should have just dropped her right in it!

This has nothing to do with her being a woman. And everything to do with her being his friend, colleague and confidante but playing ignorant to his antics.

mummywithtwokidsplusdog · 05/06/2023 13:44

I don’t believe for a second that she didn’t know what was going on… so her whole speech was disingenuous at best.

Exactly this - posters on blind item/ celeb gossip forums have known for years about this. Of course those closest to him knew. It’s unfathomable to think otherwise.

It would have been much more sensible for her to return and not mention him, IMO, rather than adding fuel to the fire.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 05/06/2023 14:15

Her announcement was purely self preservation in my opinion
She was clearly reading a well rehearsed speech and was nervous but i suppose they had to acknowledge the situation
That should be it now( before she moves to BBC in September!... just my opinion.
I think keep Alison and Dermot and Craig and Josie together
They work well together

Some people say This morning are taking us for fools, are people suggesting that This morning who have an understanding of how to take the public for fools could not see it being done at work to them?

ButtonSister · 05/06/2023 14:19

The official story that PS and ITV are sticking to is that PS had a sexual relationship with an adult but junior employee, and that he lied about it when questioned by his employer.
On those facts the ITV/HW reaction is completely over the top.
Which is why it is evident that ITV/HW know far, far more than they're letting on about the grooming that PS engaged in with boys.

ButtonSister · 05/06/2023 14:21

I also don't understand why the fact that he knew his brother was sexually abusing someone (someone who PS appeared to know) is being conveniently ignored

EconomyClassRockstar · 05/06/2023 14:24

I haven’t watched it but Holly is a bare faced liar. Of COURSE she knew. I knew ffs and I don’t even live in the same country. She really does take her viewers for idiots tries to resist joke that they DO watch This Morning

Rumours have been around yes. But if you heard a rumour about a friend, you asked them and they repeatedly assured you it wasn’t true, the other person in the rumour assured you it wasn’t true.

what would you do? cut them off anyway?

AnonyMenOhPee · 05/06/2023 14:32

I liked the bit where she checked that we’re all ok too. This isn’t some fucking war zone we traversed together - it’s looking in at their fake murky shitty little world and finding it wanting. You ok holly? Now you realised you aren’t actually national treasures. The pair of them are vapid , talentless twats.

AnonyMenOhPee · 05/06/2023 14:34

Mommasgotabrandnewbag · 05/06/2023 12:02

I imagine she was shitting herself with nerves. Cut the girl some slack fgs she isn't the devil incarnate.

She’s a 42 year old woman not a girl. A professional tv presenter with many years experience. If you thought any of it was real then I have a bridge to sell you

A GB news clip came up on YouTube they likened "You ok" to Duchess Meghan woke acting.

This is a good point. Although you could argue she is only over reacting because half the public have completely turned against him and she does not want the same.

No matter if he groomed him or not (well, obviously that matters but even without it), the boy looked so young and I find it very strange a middle aged man would be sexually attracted to someone that looked like a teenager - even if he was allegedly 20 at the time. It's not palatable for many people.

Everyone (including him) doing interviews on it or making on air statements is just fuelling the media even more and giving everyone more to talk about. The young man is the only one who hasn't spoken out so people will continue to speculate while it's splashed over the front of every newspaper because of this.

I don't know one person whose opinion has been changed by anything that's been publicised so it is pointless. I bet it's pushed TM viewing ratings up so everyone can see the goss live though!

Exactly.

MmeHug · 05/06/2023 15:00

I was asleep but just watched it - the bit where she says "I imagine you have been feeling like I have: shaken, troubled, and let-down" cracked me up 😂As if any of the general public would be feeling shaken and troubled by This Morning! I'm troubled that it's still on the telly, I watched it for the first time ever a few weeks ago and it was just boring shit!

Rumours started because he was behaving totally inappropriately with this guy for years. He took him as his personal runner across his shows, which just doesn’t happen. He had him on stage accepting an award, which just doesn’t happen. The runner declared his love for PS in front of Holly. It’s a lot more than hearing a vague rumour. What excuses did PS make for all that to his closest friend in all the world? Or did she see it all close up and know the truth, like all the people leaking the story to the media?

muffinmclay22 · 05/06/2023 15:35

She was fucked either way. Had she ignored it and not said anything there would be outrage. But whatever she said and however she said it, she was always going to be slagged off, not believed and called insincere.

I feel pretty bad for her. It wasn't her who did it yet shes being tarred with the same brush as PS. Maybe she knew, maybe she didn't. Maybe she'd heard whisperings but kept her nose out. Who knows?

Yeah. Me too. I also stumbled across a clip of Spitting Image from the 80's going on about him not being gay. That's such a long time ago.
