Holly's Monologue.

Did anyone just watch Holly on This Morning when it started?

All felt very rehearsed and wooden. Josie has obviously been told to take the lead now.

I'm wondering if they will mix & match the presenters going forward, I think that would be a good idea. Then no one becomes complacent and some totally new presenters would be like a breath of fresh air.

How are YOU?

Well Holly, if I'm totally honest, fine.

Ive got to be totally honest when I say that despite your and ITV's tedious, over publicised and obvious attempts to limit seats in the This Morning Lifeboat, I still managed to get up and dressed this morning. Im not sure from where I found the strength, but you know, the real world where real people live is just about coping. We've got this!

It's lovely you got a little week in the sun, although I imagine you and your agent spent quite a lot of time trying to work out how best to hang on to your job and sponsors, whilst simultaneously chatting up the Beeb. That's the sort of thing that happens when you've super-publicly conflated work mates with real mates.

Anyway, you made it through your hellish day, nice new dress and a new sofa bestie for you. Every cloud and all.

Maybe when all this is over you could reflect that it only takes a bit of trial by SM and TV world is over.

Thanks for your thoughts though

Of course she knew. In all the companies I used to work, if two people slept with each other, the WHOLE office knew about it.

3dogsandarabbit · 05/06/2023 19:39

Obviously she knew about the rumours but I don't believe she knew that he had an affair. We don't know what was said between her and PS when he was questioned by ITV a few years ago. Some people can lie and be very convincing. She may have defended him to other people and now feels that he made her look stupid.

I knew about Phil and the runner two years ago. I’m a total random. There is no chance in hell that Holly didn’t. There’s obviously a big exercise going on to rescue her from being dragged into this but I’m not sure it’s going to succeed.

I was told by a friend of a friend 5 years ago that Phil was gay. I heard about the runner just before Covid so early 2020. As you’ve said above, I’m no one but I knew those things! I think it’s sad how quickly she’s dropped him. I prefer Alison who said ‘I’ve always loved Phil’ much more honest.

I don’t imagine Phil is the nicest person and in some ways is getting his comeuppance but I think what he’s being put through is a witch hunt. The hatred he’s received must be very hard to cope with.

I haven’t watched the episode, but I do feel sorry for her. I just thought that she probably believed the lies. I’m a bit surprised about the whole thing. I understand there was an age gap, but I can’t seem to get my head around why PS left. Is it because he lied about the ”relationship” full stop? Or is it because he lied about when it started? Or is it because he somehow abused his power and took advantage of his position of authority? Or is it simply because it was ill-advised due to the age gap and the level of seniority? I think I read somewhere on Mumsnet, that the runner was at one point PS’s personal assistant at one and then suddenly was moved to Loose Women. I don’t fully understand why people are annoyed with HW and what is it the PS is supposed to have done.

Agree @ExitChasedByAMemory …I am baffled by the whole saga TBH 🤷‍♀️

Insincere, false, fake, hallow, disingenuous, two faced, phony, pretentious twaddle. She is absolutely nauseating. A pillar of virtue and a vision of purity In white. Feigned concern for everyone while desperately trying to save her own holier than thou persona. Vile woman.

LadyKenya · 05/06/2023 20:01

She has turned her back on him, with that insincere speech of hers. She is saving her own career that is all. I have no idea why this load of crap was given any time on the news. No, the whole nation is not shaking, or caring about that rubbish show. Such nonsense.

So fucking dramatic. He lied about having an affair, the vast majority of people do. This is so over the top. Did Boris ever lose jobs (far more important jobs than Phil's presenting gig) for lying about his ladies? No.

Did Boris use his position to groom a child?

JenniferBooth · 05/06/2023 20:07

Its weird how things have flipped
2020 Phil "comes out" then Covid hits and Covid is the main news.
2023 Covid enquiry and reluctance to release Whats Apps and then the Phil stuff finally breaks and him TM and ITV are getting more attention than the Covid enquiry

CoreyTaylorsSoggyTshirt · 05/06/2023 20:13

I don't think it's out of the realms of possibility that she didn't know.

How many of us have been cheated on and not known, when it seems the rest of whole world did.

Men who have affairs lie to everyone.

That's without the potential grooming involved too.

I'm damned sure I wouldn't want to lose a cushy well paying job because my colleague couldn't keep it in his pants either, and if I had to make a statement about it I would write it, get someone to look over it and rehearse it too.

I'm so sick of a woman always having to be the scapegoat for the slimy cheating arsehole behaviour of men.

I'm no big fan of Holly, or Phillip, but I think she should be left alone at this point, and he should be thourouly investigated by the police and either charged or allowed to disappear from the public eye.

Trial by press never ends well.

VinoVeritas1 · 05/06/2023 20:13

She proper threw him under the bus to save herself. Dreadful. So two-faced

VinoVeritas1 · 05/06/2023 20:14

And that white outfit was no coincidence

Vitriolinsanity · 05/06/2023 20:15

@GoodChat you do not know if PS did. You might not like what's happened, but you do not know.

Forgetmenott · 05/06/2023 20:16

It’s her career at stake. She doesn’t want to be dragged down with him, so it’s not surprising she’s distancing herself. I agree with her - Phil’s actions have cost him his career, they shouldn’t cost Holly her career too.

Rockbird · 05/06/2023 20:23

I haven't watched TM since Richard and Judy and my student days but I think some of you don't quite get how big a part these shows play in some people's lives. I don't give a toss and neither do most of you but there will be people who watch religiously day in, day out who feel like these people are their family. They could well be upset by all this.

TheHandbag · 05/06/2023 20:28

Whenwillglorioussummercome · 05/06/2023 19:23

First, Holly and all the others on This Morning are being emetic. And hypocritical as they knew this was happening.

Second, what is obvious is that Schofield was deeply unpopular with many people for being a bastard to work for - and again this hasn’t exactly been a secret. His bad behaviour here has been the catalyst for him to go before further embarrassment and Holly jettisoned him to try to keep her own position. But she is caught up in the accusations of ‘toxic’ behaviour on the production and she must know she’s dancing on very thin ice (pun intended).

So her statement this morning was unpleasant to watch because it lacked any integrity, or authenticity, and treated its audience like fools.

On another thread about PS, someone mentioned the HW regularly blanked 'staff'. The crew were instructed not to talk to the talent, this type of toxic behaviour can't be allowed to go on. She can't have not known, it just suited her to look the other way.

Beaverbridge · 05/06/2023 20:31

Completely agree, white outfit esp chosen. Josie simpering at her side so happy to have been chosen to sit beside the Queen. Last week Josie was telling us about the weeks surprise at a caravan site. As for Martin Frizzel, what was that doorstep interview about???!!!.

Daffodilwoman · 05/06/2023 20:31

I only saw it by default as I made the mistake of turning the news on. I soon turned it off again.
I am no fan of PS or HW but for hells sake can we stop this incessant hounding if then.
HW, like every other woman alive, is not responsible for the behaviour of PS.
Give it a bloody rest. This has not news. If this is all there us to talk about then I’m so glad I never turn daytime tv on. In fact I’ve stopped watching the national news.
I’m sure there is more going on in the world than this bollocks.
And no, I’m not excusing the behaviour of PS at all but for gods sake, there has been a bloody stabbing near my mums and that’s not even made the local news.

inappropriateraspberry · 05/06/2023 20:34

There are other people on tv that have had affairs etc. and people have no problem with it.
I really don't get the fuss over this.

Aquarius1234 · 05/06/2023 20:37

Very fake and not genuine at all..
She couldn't give a crap.
I hated the cringe deep breath at first.

Because there is more to it than has been made public.

She was nervous as its the fakest thing she's ever said.
