Ukrainian surrogacy in Ireland

Deeocal · 08/05/2023 20:17

This lady has used the help of a Ukrainian surrogate to grow her family, and is also sharing her journey on social media. Sharing to wish them luck on their return journey home ☘️

I believe this is also a journey Rosanna Davison (former miss world?) has undertaken although not in current circumstances.

‘I just want to get home’ – Irish couple and their newborn son shelter from bombs in Ukraine

Early last week, with her newborn baby asleep in her Kyiv hotel room, Jane Cunningham was awoken by a siren from her phone — an air-raid alert had been triggered, as Russian missiles and drones headed for the Ukrainian capital.

Awful.

They’re no better than sex tourists in Thailand.

Well put.

lunaloveroo · 08/05/2023 21:23

Buying a baby is just wrong.

@unfortunateevents i know of the couple through mutual friends and support their decision to do this. As I said on the thread, I wish them well and wanted others to join me in this.

In what way do you think this is positive? What's the heartwarming core to this story you think we've all missed?

If you wanted to wish them well why would you not just leave a comment on their own social media where they'll actually see it?

Generally women aren't pro the exploitation of vulnerable women. Buying babies and removing them from the mother they have been growing attached to in the womb is an awful, immoral thing to do.

Yes, absolutely

cansu · 08/05/2023 21:26

They have taken advantage of someone with few choices. It is buying a baby. It is appalling.

Rosesbloomingnow · 08/05/2023 21:30

Really selfish behaviour. It's what they want, not about the child.

You wanted people on a parenting website to cheerlead exploitation of women?

bakewellbride · 08/05/2023 21:34

How awful.

MrsKeats · 08/05/2023 21:36

Should be illegal.
Horrible and exploitative.

LovelyJublee · 08/05/2023 21:39

Her Instagram page has lots of family vlogger type photos and lots of photos of her daughter on a open to the world profile, and now the photos of this baby too. Is she trying to build a mumfluencer following or whatever they call themselves OP?

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 08/05/2023 21:42

You expect any woman to see something positive in this story🤔
Renting a womb, exploiting a poor woman, leaving her in a war zone, risking her life and creating a child who will have an attachment disorder. What's not to love!
Even puppies get left with the mother for 8 weeks, have you ever bothered to wonder why
It's so selfish of the purchasing parents with no thought for the mother or child

FrownedUpon · 08/05/2023 21:43

What a selfish couple. Poor woman being exploited like this & in Ukraine of all places.

Did you really? 🤨. You're on a bit of a loser, then. Surrogacy is a vile form of people purchasing.
My thoughts are with the mother. The actual mother.

3peassuit · 08/05/2023 21:45

I don’t wish them well. Selfish idiots.

@LovelyJublee its almost as if they want lots of additional publicity for some reason. Apparently no publicity is bad publicity.

Goodoccasionallypoor · 08/05/2023 21:53

The fact op started two threads about this and hasn't ventured to explain why it's a positive story, makes me think this is just intended to draw attention to the couple's instagram account.

I guess buying a baby is expensive and they need extra cash.

Riceball · 08/05/2023 21:54

I see no difference between this and the forced adoption scandals of the 60/70s. When will we learn.

EversoDisorganised · 08/05/2023 22:01

It’s horrific, exploitation of a woman in a war torn country and taking a baby away from its mother in the first week, no support from me.

Deeocal · 08/05/2023 22:01

A shame to see there is negativity here for those who are struggling with infertility.

Rosanna Davison had a similar journey and do not believe she received such negativity.

So this couple already had a child but wanted another so paid a woman in a war torn country to have their baby. Gross.

They then ran the risk that the baby might die during a war and that they could be killed when they went to collect him, potentially leaving their existing child without parents.

Then they ran to a newspaper to tell everyone about their 'journey'

Selfish idiots.

Yes, selfish, attention grabbing idiots is my take on them too!

EversoDisorganised · 08/05/2023 22:04

I am deeply sympathetic towards those suffering infertility. Doesn’t mean I support surrogacy though.

darjeelingrose · 08/05/2023 22:05

This is terrible.
I wish the baby well of course.
The Irish couple have done something that I do not support in any way whatsoever, surrogacy should be illegal.
No idea who the other woman is that you are referring to.

Or.... posters are not centering these attention seeking idiots so aren't seeing it as about them, but are thinking about the baby being taken from their mum, and the mum being left in a War torn country?

WaverleyOwl · 08/05/2023 22:05

I 'struggled' with infertility and only have my children through two rounds of IVF.

Doesn't mean I support human trafficking (aka surrogacy).
