AutumnCrow · 06/05/2023 13:54

Will we the hunky equerry again?

Bloke in the kilt? Mm.

MustardGreenAndPlum · 06/05/2023 13:55

Has Penny Mordaunt taken her shoes off yet?

nidgey · 06/05/2023 13:53

Charles looks a bit unwell, no?

My DH said he didn't look right...

SoupDragon · 06/05/2023 13:56

Did we get to see Seamus the ceremonial Irish wolfhound?

Garethkeenansstapler · 06/05/2023 13:56

the horses made me nervous! Poor things looked a bit frightened.

Camilla looks like she’s trying not to laugh or look bored a lot of the time

Good display of pomp, even for a republican like me

PS - no Prince Harry?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/05/2023 13:56

We were waiting for the wolfhound to start howling. Well trained animal!

Ladysaurus · 06/05/2023 13:57

I swear poor Charles is getting paler as the day wears on. Someone get the man a protein bar and a coffee.

MustardGreenAndPlum · 06/05/2023 13:57

It’s the biggest day of his life and he’s 74. I’d be looking peaky even at 39 years younger.

HandaPanda · 06/05/2023 13:57

My top moments:

  1. Penny
  2. Gospel choir
  3. The hip hip hoorays in the garden

Watching this I'm thinking what a huge shame it is that Harry's children are not there to really experience this. Even though they're young, I'm sure it would have made an impression. They've missed out on something of huge family importance. One wonders what their titles will really mean to them when it's so removed from context and experience.

He didn't want to be a working royal anymore, didn't want his children having his upbringing so completely appropriate that they aren't there.

Casuaala · 06/05/2023 13:57

PS - no Prince Harry? Nope. Apparently he didn't make it.

If Harry refused it then it's, er, Andrew! That's why they sing God Save the King with such feeling!

Why would it be Andrew and not Ann? She's older.

Charles looks a bit unwell, no?

I think he looked tired or nervous not sure which but his fingers looked swollen.
So maybe a combination of all 3, tired, nervous, illness.

nidgey · 06/05/2023 13:53

Charles looks a bit unwell, no?

He looks like a 74 year old who has probably been up since goodness know what time and just participated in the most important day of his life.

Bouledeneige · 06/05/2023 13:57

I remember seeing a bloke in a kilt walk down my road and I said 'Oooh I love a man in a kilt'. And he replied 'So do I'! We laughed.

PermanentTemporary · 06/05/2023 13:57

I've been vaguely wondering if the swollen hands might mean heart or kidney issues.

SunnyEgg · 06/05/2023 13:58

Were the hoorays a new addition?

Loved all of it

Well done to everyone

Gospel choir were phenomenal. Managed the depth and range of the full sized choir behind them. Just amazing.

He was at the Abbey, same row as Beatrice & Eugenie

Harry was in the Abbey behind Princess Anne. He may have buggered off to LA again by now. The BBC managed not to show even a glimpse of Andrew after he arrived, and a good thing too.

crumpet · 06/05/2023 13:58

A really nice touch that the forces had a chance to be acknowledged

MushMonster · 06/05/2023 13:58

Casuaala · 06/05/2023 13:53

Aren't we supposed to be swearing our allegiance at some point? Err, they did that a couple of hours ago.

Yes, they did, at the beginning of yhe Coronation, the main personalities on the four front sides of the Abbey.
And some Commonwealth and other territories representatives at the very exit of the Abbey.
I swear alliance to the country I live in and love. To the people of the country.
As he said himself, he is here to serve, not to be served.

Ladysaurus · 06/05/2023 13:59

I appreciate that. That's why I thought he needs a break. Just 10 minutes to inhale a Tesco meal deal.

SoupDragon · 06/05/2023 13:59

hookiewookie29 · 06/05/2023 13:57

Why would it be Andrew and not Ann? She's older.

Because she's a woman.

they changed the rules before George was born but it doesn't apply retrospectively.
