Charles looks a bit unwell, no?

He looked how I’d expect

WeWereInParis · 06/05/2023 13:59

It's like calling Uluru "Ayres Rock" its not on.

No, it's like calling La Tour Eiffel the Eiffel Tower.

Uluru is a sacred site.

Why would it be Andrew and not Ann? She's older.

Because at the time they were born boys took precedence over girls. Was the case until ?2016? so Charlotte comes after George but before Louis. But it wasn't made retrospective.

PS - no Prince Harry? Nope. Apparently he didn't make it.

He was stood behind Anne in the ceremony. She had a big feather thing blocking his view lol

MustardGreenAndPlum · 06/05/2023 13:59

Good I’m in love with David Olusoga.

polkadotdalmation · 06/05/2023 14:00

I must say William and Catherine looked super regal.

Should hopefully skip over Andrew and then it would be Beatrice!

SoupDragon · 06/05/2023 14:00

Someone mentioned the bearskins on the other thread. They come from the annual cull of bears in Canada when they control the population of black bears.

Bouledeneige · 06/05/2023 14:00

My fave moments:

  • All the music
  • The marching after the service
  • Penny M
  • Checking out William and Kate and the children's outfits

And hoping the fly past.

Yes, always thoughtful analysis

BlueThursday · 06/05/2023 14:01

Camilla must be nicorette patched up to fk

HamptonCaught · 06/05/2023 14:01

Very surprised that the BBC have the dishonest and incompetent David Olusoga as a commentator.

That's not how it worked, until very recently. The law has been changed now so that in future the sex of the monarch's children is ignored in the succession, so the order goes:

William
George
Charlotte
Louis

but in the Queen's family it went:
Charles
Andrew
Edward
Anne (even though she was second oldest)

before any of them were married and had children because all the boys had precedence over girls.

I’ve missed so much being in the hairdressers. I was hoping they’d have a tv on so I could at least watch the parade back.
I will have to watch it on iplayer after I’ve seen them on the balcony.

Casuaala · 06/05/2023 14:02

(I know Harry was there, I've been watching all day).

What are you on about now? He's a wonderful commentator. His house in time series is a delight.

the80sweregreat · 06/05/2023 14:03

I thought the King looked a bit faint earlier on
He might be alright after a cup of tea and a biscuit.
I like these two historians as well
So civilized and knowledgeable. They seem nice men
It's sad it's wet and rainy though ;(
Hasn't put people off going up to london though

LIZS · 06/05/2023 14:03

Sounds like the fly past has been scaled down.

Poppycock!

MushMonster · 06/05/2023 14:04

I liked that they mention the King's work on the protection of the natural world alonside the charities and community building.
I have some hope that he will push for greener energy sources and actually get it implemented, despite Sunak standing on the way.

I was wondering if she was counting down until she could nip out for a G&T & a fag!

AbbyGal · 06/05/2023 14:04

Charles has always had chubby fingers - met him through work about 25 years ago and that was the first thing I noticed about him (that and that he's shorter than I had thought).

Casuaala · 06/05/2023 14:05

You can't just skip people in line for the throne. That's literally the opposite of what a monarchy is.

Rubbish - you may or may not agree with what he says, but he is a reputable historian with an interesting perspective backed up by sources.
