Were they actually late though?
Someone said the order of service had them arriving exactly on time?

As far as I could see the whole thing went off brilliantly but there has to be nit-picking about something.

these lip readers are so prying

I agree. It’s similar to secret filming.

It's reported that's what Sophie said to Kate on the balcony by some lip reader expert. And Royal etiquette has it boys under 8 wear shorts.

So it could well be that is what has made them late.

4-year-old Prince Charles was in long trousers in 1953.

If anyone has seen the YouTube videos called 'bad lip reading' will know that you can interpret what people are saying in several different ways

He looks adorable!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 08/05/2023 13:12

I wonder how many people from that photo are still alive?

Not many I shouldn't think!

Obviously Anne & Lady Glenconner possibly the page boys & a couple of the Queen's cousins?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 08/05/2023 13:40

Good question. Charles, Anne. According to this article, four of Queen Elizabeth II's first cousins are still alive and attended both coronations. https://www.townandcountrymag.com/society/tradition/a43635806/royals-attended-both-queen-elizabeth-king-charles-coronations-photos/ I think they're all in the photo above - Princess Alexandra, Duke of Gloucester, Duke of Kent, Prince Michael of Kent. Not sure who the other kilted boy is.

I think the Kents are on the left and the Gloucesters are on the right - 4 of them are still alive plus Charles and Anne. So my guess is 6!

SoTedious · 08/05/2023 13:43

Not sure who the other kilted boy is.

Far right kilt is the Duke of Gloucester's older brother who died as a young man I think.

diddl · 08/05/2023 13:52

Just noticed the embroidery on the Queen's ermine(?)

The embroidery on Penny Mordaunt's outfit was similar wasn't it?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 08/05/2023 13:53

Thanks, of course. I think I dimly remember his death being on the TV news. I see from Wikipedia that he died in 1972 when a plane he was piloting crashed.

I thought the King looked a bit faint earlier on

He did look quite pale I thought.

Camilla looked terrified!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 08/05/2023 20:43

Is there a point to picking up on one post from a fast moving three part thread that was made quite a way back and posting a series of emoticons without context? Other than pure dickishness that is.

Paul2023 · 08/05/2023 20:52

I wonder if Mike Tindall some times pinches himself. I mean, it’s only because he struck up a friendship ( and marriage) to Zara that he’s in this position.

Must be quite surreal coming from a relatively normal background, to being in the firm and going to royal engagements and mixing with the RF!

Lip reading is hard without context.

Lip reading is hard without context.

And I think the boring comment has been twisted out of context. It's boring for the crowds, rather than boring for them. Which was pointed out by another poster.
