Sorry wasn’t meaning about sunik being Hindi that didn’t bother me it’s the fact he’s a torry that’s what was offensive not his religion that I didn’t even think about that.

Gymnopedie · 06/05/2023 17:17

I really hope they release recordings of the music. The Parry 'I was glad' was the best version I've ever heard.

Casuaala · 06/05/2023 17:34

Was nice to see Edward & Sophie in positions of prominence.

Yes, and Louise and James. I wonder if they're being lined up as working royals.

Not sure that that would be viable long term.

I think Charles is needing people to step up now & easily drop away as necessary.

He's the Prime Minister. Whatever you think about the government, it's just a fact of life that whoever is PM at the time of a huge event like this has to go to the Abbey and do a reading. I have never voted Tory in my life but part of living in a democracy is accepting what the election result is, even if I would have wanted something different.

Decca are releasing a recording of the service today I think

Thanks for the lovely thread and your company this morning everyone.
Shame there are always a few who can't 'read the room' and try to derail lovely threads rather than going off and starting their own, but lovely (3) thread(s) on the whole.
[Cheers]

Yes, I agree completely. Just had a look around MN and there are some real batshit threads out there!

There really are. Even mnhq seems to have gone a bit doolally today

Other people did focus on the fact that he is a Hindu

No as I said that never even entered my head the fact he is torry did, but loved the ceremony all the stuff from history that chair and that bible from the 6th century just incredible.

Their titles will likely just mean the opportunity of massively cashing in across the pond and round the world on their RF links. H's idiocy & Megan's bloody mindedness have deprived their children of an incredible experience. Even if they had been in London, their parents could have let them join in with family celebrations. I didn't see any other RF children their age except the Wales and working ones.

I have to agree, yes. Oh well.

You only want Labour people at ceremonies?

Might be a bit tricky given that they’re not a dictatorship

I think it may work. It’ll be a quite a few years when Wales’s children could do royal duties. Charles and Camilla are getting older. Andrew is gone, Sussexes are gone, so only working royals are: king, queen, The Wales , The Edinburgs, Princess Royal. In 10 years we’ll have elderly royals , The Wales in their fifties and overworked, The Edinburgs in seventies. The Wales’s children still not old enough to preform full time or even part time royal duties. Beautiful Lady Louise and her handsome Earl brother may be great help.

They may not want to though!

She's at Uni at the moment, he's still at school & seems very shy.

They have probably been brought up knowing that they need to make their own careers!

Or they may want to. I’m not saying it has to happen now, it won’t, they’re still very young, but in few year they may have a choice to be working royal. In any case, James and Louise’s careers won’t be the same as anybody else’s. They’re royals, working or not. Slimming down royal family is a good idea, but only to the degree. Someone has to be available to cut the ribbon at the opening of community centre somewhere.

40thmonarch · 06/05/2023 19:20

@Casuaala.. Thank you for starting this series!

Sugarfree23 · 06/05/2023 19:21

I'd think Charles / William are more likely to turn to Zara & Peter to plug any gaps in the Firm than to turn to Louise & James who are both still very young.

I also think the York girls would be very put out if their younger cousins were asked and they weren't

40thmonarch · 06/05/2023 19:24

Re the music I was surprised that Jerusalem wasn't played. It would have been incredible with that orchestra and the choir.
The poem has such a sense of history but also striving.

40thmonarch · 06/05/2023 19:26

Zara and her hubby are very commercial though and don't have titles, I don't think...

40thmonarch · 06/05/2023 19:27

Camilla gown was totally personal.
She had her dogs on it, flowers and the names of her children and grandchildren all over it.

I wonder what personal touches Charles has!

MidgeHardcastle · 06/05/2023 19:27

Beatrice is now a Councillor of State since QE died so can step in for Charles if necessary. Not sure who the others are, William, Edward maybe and one other.

Let them be there but not read they could pick better people than politicians to read.

Others may have said 0r thought about the Hindu religion but I didn’t. Sick 0f saying it.
