Percy Pigs were ruined by the removal of the pork gelatine.

They should be called Pappy Plants now. Yuk.

The only good place for full fat yogurts is Lidl. Maybe Aldi too. I mourn M and S Whisp. Bit like a yogurt mousse or fruit fool. And their multipack toffee yogurts.
cadburys bar of plenty with strawberry and cranberry. Before they mucked up the chocolate.
When I was little my dad used to buy us Lindt Neapolitans if he was on an overseas work trip. Little bars of honey or milk flavour chocolate. Spotted a box in the outlet store last week. EIGHTEEN QUID! For miniatures!

FancyFanny · 27/04/2023 20:13

You can get full fat yoghurts everywhere

Whitaker's shop in Skipton isn't there any more but they still produce chocolate, I've seen it in quite a lot of gift type shops. I used to love their Skipton shop, expensive but we used to buy the bags of 'seconds', we once bought a big bag of those squares produced for various companies and hotels, in our bag there were some from the Royal Yacht Britannia!

I think we must be talking about different brands! The Whittakers I know didn't start exporting (from NZ) until after 2010.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whittaker's

It's not premium chocolate. Just basic chocolate but not owned by a multinational, and without any **ing palm oil.

NZ used to be Cadburys territory but Whittakers have completely supplanted them, basically just by making the sort of chocolate that Cadburys used to make.

AGAIN Toblerone owned by asset strippers Mondelez...

Experts in squeezing every cent of profit out of the gullible public with their SHITE offerings... Cadburys Diam, Milka, Cote'Or all with slimy, cheap palm oil additives

We've been forced to melt all of our Toblerones to make cheesecakes.

@Tarkan
yes I forgot cream crackers used to be delicious in an underwhelming way, the same way that mozzarella cheese is, if you see what I mean? Like not lots of flavour but lovely it isn’t own way, now they are damp and stale tasting like they have been left in a tin for months, and really pale lie they needed more oven time, there’s nice bland which is what’s required for tasty toppings but their texture is all wrong….I’m always on the hunt for nice crackers if anyone can recommend

asda's own brand crackers are nice or even Aldi's own are OK and much cheaper than Jacobs ones anyway.

AuraBora · 27/04/2023 22:03

Mars Bars used to be my go-to chocolate as a child. I had one for the first time in years the other day and was so disappointed. It was very underwhelming. I seem to recall they changed a lot after some kind of animal fat/gelatin was taken out of the recipe.. maybe that's the reason. But also it was tiny!
For me the beat reasonably priced chocolate is M&S or Lindt.

LunaNorth · 27/04/2023 22:04

I’ve just spent £35 on Whittaker’s chocolate 😳

Yes, but have they solved the milk-turning-chocolatey problem?

Still reckon the ads about how they make the milk turn chocolatey were only done because they couldn't make them not turn the milk chocolatey.

"Fuck it, Mr Kellogg's. These things are still making the milk turn chocolatey."

"Hey, I know what we can do..."

TomPinch · 27/04/2023 22:30

£7.55 for a 250g block of Whittakers???? That's crazy expensive.I suppose there are export costs.

I think the solution is for you all to eat lots of Whittakers so it can be exported in bulk.

YourWinter · 27/04/2023 22:42

Every brand under Mondelez is vile.
Every brand under Nestlé is vile.

Remember the big pet food brands (including Felix, Whiskas, Pedigree) are owned by confectionery companies Mars, and Purina, who are owned by Nestlé. Mars have bought premium dry food brands Orijen and Acana, and guess what? The recipes have changed, and not in a good way. Felix changed so cats that had always liked it were refusing it, or bringing it back up.

All that matters to these disgusting companies is cheapening the quality to maximise profits. I don’t suppose they’ll ever change for the better, whether it’s chocolate, biscuits or pet food.

Mostar · 27/04/2023 22:53

I hope you're not saying the big multinationals plan to converge all these products into a single item and that we (and our pets) will be eating nothing this weird brown mush.

I hadn't realised until you said this, but it's true - I had thought it was my oven not working properly but everything else cooks.

I so miss a good Cadbury Easter egg Sad

Probably less fat in the cheese

Lindt is crap.

elm26 · 27/04/2023 23:10

@Mostar I was still getting Brannigans crisps 3 or 4 years ago in the local corner shop.

@ttcat37 I'm gutted I can't find them, nothing will beat that punch of flavour and the crunchiness! Best crisps ever to exist.

Dairy Milk doesn't taste the same to me anymore, like a PP said, a can of full fat coke, a bag of crisps and a choc bar used to be a lovely treat. Now nothing has real sugar in, salt is reduced in crisps and god knows what they've done to coke.

Gonksmum · 27/04/2023 23:11

I used to love Heinz Baked Beans and Sausages but now they taste just tinny, thin and sour and the little sausages are hard and tasteless. I expect they've removed the sugar, salt and fat and ruined them in the process.

FancyFanny · 27/04/2023 23:37

@00100001 What is crap is about Lindt?

Co op's Salt and Cracked Black Pepper biscuits... Yummy but even more yummy with Garlic Roule Cheese.. ♥

ttcat37 · 25/04/2023 16:53

Nobody’s asked what really matters. Where the fuck have beef and mustard brannigans gone??? 😡😡😡😡

Nobody ever talks about Branigans!! The ham and pickle ones were the best (sneaky bastards used to only have one pack of those per multipack which led to full on fist fights among us kids).

Mostar · 28/04/2023 05:44

They still had Brannigan's three or four years ago?!

I'm guessing this is another "Except for viewers in Scotland" kind of thing.

ClaraThePigeon · 28/04/2023 05:49

Brannigan's were discontinued in September 2020.

Fancy them getting muscled out by McCoys and Doritos.
