Just listening to a Spotify playlist and Time After Time came on... That line

"If you fall I will catch you, I will be waiting. Time after time."

It just always gives me a little well of emotion. My son needs me so much, I think it's just that feeling of need to be there.

There are so many lyrics that get me no matter how many times I hear them.... What are yours?

Something a friend said about the lyrics to Everything I Own got me thinking. Till then I'd assumed the song was about a love affair, but my dad was dying at the time and suddenly I heard the lyrics entirely differently and could relate to every word. I can't listen to it now.

My Immortal by Evanescence

DH suffered a catastrophic brain injury in a car crash and lived in a nursing home for several years until he died as a result of his injuries. He was obviously very badly disabled and didn’t know me any more.
I chose this song for his funeral - it kind of described how I’d felt through the whole thing.
I can’t listen to it now.

Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell. If it pops up in a TV programme or film I have to mute it quickly before my hands are too slippery wet to hold the remote, from wiping the floods of tears from my face!

Even muted I hear her sing this bit:

And I’m a mess. 😭

Slipping through my fingers by ABBA - very cheesy, but it gets me every time. My lovely mum was a huge fan of theirs and she used to get quite emotional when she heard it - I used to laugh at her as a teenager but now I have a young adult daughter it really resonates, and reminds me so much of my mum.

My daughter in turn laughs at me and says she’s going to play it at her wedding just to ramp up my tears!

Not something I'd say anywhere apart from here, due to the person who sang it, but since the first time I heard it as a child, I have cried at "Two Little Boys".

@SadOrWickedFairy oh this has made me cry, played this song as my dad was dying. They say hearing goes last and he loved Ray Charles .

I got weirdly choked up listening to Sam Fender the other day too - made me think of the teenage boys I knew who I’ve lost, weighed down by life too young.
