Be honest: does this dress look like a towel?

I bought a dress online that I had been thinking about for months. It will arrive in a couple of days. It was very expensive.

However, I showed it to my friends and everyone says that it looks like a towel Shock

Be honest: is it awful? Does it look like a towel to you?

God almighty, a little smidge move the wrong way and it would be all over wouldn't it 😆

Emiribnessteema · 14/02/2023 21:27

In the picture it looks gorgeous and nothing like a towel , but pictures so often are misleading and on close up yes it looks like a towel , same thing happened to me bought what looked like a gorgeous cottony summer dress , in reality was like a horrible nighty (that sort of material) that wouldn't even wear to bed lol , this is good argument for going shopping over Internet lol. Such a shame as your dress did look lovely in pic

If it looks that good on you, wear it! Wear it with confidence. I think it’s great.

if you can’t wear it with confidence, don’t

Emiribnessteema · 14/02/2023 23:57

It's more the weird loo mat shape that does it no justice than the fabric, which is also ghastly mind you.

Wonder how many orders they've taken off the back of this thread!

OP do report back!

GreenSunfish · 15/02/2023 09:06

Yes, it does. Sorry.

littlestrawberryhat · 15/02/2023 09:25

I don’t know if mumsnet is the place to come for fashion advice tbh OP. I think the dress is cool and you should wear what you want. It’s a “fashion” piece I don’t expect most mumsnet users to get. I’d wear it and I think the instagram Matilda girl looks fab

'It’s a “fashion” piece I don’t expect most mumsnet users to get.'

Rude.

PMSL how pretentious.

Sam Smith wore a "fashion piece" to the Brits and still looked like a massive bell end.

Not saying you'll look like a bell end in this OP (but you might with that pink colour...) as I am a believer in wear what you like, but be aware it might not do you any favours!

FadoFado · 15/02/2023 10:57

It doesn't even look very 'fashiony'. The Matilda person wearing it in the insta pic is of course very beautiful, but her look is more Basildon than Paris.

JollieJullie · 15/02/2023 11:19

Ladies, the dress is here.

Am returning it.

Pic or it didn't happen 🤣

JollieJullie · 15/02/2023 11:23

I'd maybe keep it, if it costed a more reasonable amount. But there is no way this is worth the money I paid for it.

You actually are a better advert for the towel dress than the models themselves lol.

VanillaSpiceCandle · 15/02/2023 11:26

Yeah I still really like it!

Thanks but I am afraid it still looks like a towel Confused

you're gorgeous, OP, but that dress is pretty underwhelming on you.

Send it back and spend the £££ on something more wow.

niugboo · 15/02/2023 11:27

Ok on you it doesn’t look at all like a towel!

FadoFado · 15/02/2023 11:31

it looks exactly like a towel on her

Twawmyarse2 · 15/02/2023 11:31

You have a stunning figure - the dress does nothing even for you! It's just not very nice, it's the material rather than the style.

Right decision to send it back.

A fashion piece? So if it’s fashionable wear it even if it looks awful? Isn’t that what we used to call a fashion victim? It may or may not look good in real life but it doesn’t look like 240USD worthy.

CambsAlways · 15/02/2023 12:33

You have a cracking figure and that dress is wasted on it

BreviloquentBastard · 15/02/2023 13:28

It actually looks nice on you OP, you've a very lovely figure and actually make it look better than the modelled photos.

However it does still look like a towel, and it was very expensive. If you'd only spent £30 or so I'd say keep it and rock it, but £240 is extortion. You'd look just as good in an actual towel so you just as well save the money!

MarshaBradyo · 15/02/2023 13:42

I think you can do better

JaneJeffer · 15/02/2023 14:00

You need a hat to match
