I'm shocked but not surprised. This world is depressing and scary for women.

It's just too heartbreaking for words 💔

It’s a terrible thing to happen to that family but I disagree that the world is depressing and scary for women.

i certainly don’t feel that way and neither does any female in my family or friends.

Good for you.

Cadburysucks · 07/02/2023 11:36

It will be blamed on mental health no doubt, but he deliberately killed his daughter and wife and turned the gun on himself, he knew what he was doing. Murderer.

I have no sympathy and hope he rots in hell but surely you have to have severe MH issues to do this.
MH provision here is completely inadequate so if (and we don’t know he did) this man or his family sought help they probably didn’t get any
Very sad, she sounds like a lovely lady and a good female role model

TheDogsMother · 07/02/2023 11:42

This is absolutely heart breaking. The lives of that talented and inspirational woman along with their lovely little girl. Just why ?

EllieQ · 07/02/2023 11:43

Also not surprised to see this news. It’s heartbreaking. I hope that Lettie was asleep and didn’t know what was happening, but the detail about Emma making a phone call suggests this wasn’t the case. What is wrong with these men?

Amazingly, women with MH issues manage not to annihilate their families. This is a male violence issue.

lifeturnsonadime · 07/02/2023 11:44

Emma and Lettie you deserved so much more than this violent man that you should have been able to trust. RIP.

To all of the posters who wish to minimise the violence that women & children face at the hand of violent males just shut the actual fuck up. Minimising this and blaming it on mental health of the male is part of the problem.

2-3 women are killed by men per week in the UK most by the men they should be able to trust the moment.

We need to talk about this. We need to stop downplaying it.

vinoandbrie · 07/02/2023 11:44

We all knew it, we all knew it as soon as we heard the tragic news.

RIP Emma and Lettie. My heart breaks for them.

He probably didn't realise he had MH issues bad enough to lead him to do this and nor did his wife.

I fucking hate men today.

MarshaBradyo · 07/02/2023 11:44

So sad a successful and likely happy woman and a little girl had their lives taken away by a man

It’s too awful

He's a selfish bastard for doing that to them.

He had a choice.

RestingMurderousFace · 07/02/2023 11:45

Sick fucker should’ve just offed himself.

Tirednest · 07/02/2023 11:46

Imagine being her parents and Letties grandparents. Those poor people.

In fact, imagine being HIS parents. Awful.

RosesAndHellebores · 07/02/2023 11:46

He was living on school grounds, in school property, with the headteacher - his wife. I hope schools undertake DBS and reference checks on all spouses/partners in these circumstances. An interview too would be helpful for those living on site.

FenghuangHoyan · 07/02/2023 11:48

FFS. Why didn't the stupid, useless, bastard just kill himself? Why'd he have to kill his wife and three year old? What sort of sick bastard does this?

I hope hell is a real place and he's rotting there. So bloody awful.

ShiverOfSharks · 07/02/2023 11:49

As I thought. Just another inadequate fucking dicksmack who couldn't stand that a woman and child could live unless they propped up his ego and were under his control.

Family annihilators don't suffer from any mental illness. They know what they're doing. They just don't give a shit about the lives of their families compared to their own egos.

keepaweatheredeye · 07/02/2023 11:49

If he did have MH difficulties, you don't go from depressed to murdering your wife and young child.

He had the option to seek help. Mental health does not allow you to murder your family.

What a tragic, horrific waste of a family. 🕯️ for Emma and Lettie.

LaLaLouella · 07/02/2023 11:49

So upsetting and depressingly predictable, we all knew, the moment the news was reported, what had happened. There is an epidemic of male violence towards women and children - what is being done about it?

RIP Emma and Lettie

MarshaBradyo · 07/02/2023 11:50

lifeturnsonadime · 07/02/2023 11:45

He is. He could have taken his own life

I’m so sad, angry but also feeling powerless

It’s pretty much always men - stop killing us women and children as a way out

Blankscreen · 07/02/2023 11:51

It's so sad. I just hope that the poor little girl didn't realise what was happening/happened to her mum.

Her comment in the podcast about the husband getting a new job at the same time is telling. Makes me think he was competitive/jealous of her success.

RandomCatGenerator · 07/02/2023 11:53

CaveMum · 07/02/2023 11:24

Sadly this was always the most likely explanation. I don't think I have ever heard of a "family annihilation" perpetrated by a woman.

It does happen. There was one at my primary school when I was in senior school. Horrible.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 07/02/2023 11:53

I knew, like so many of others, what this “incident” was most likely to be so can’t say I’m surprised but it still got me more than I thought it would. No words for a fucking waste of space.

Goawayangryman · 07/02/2023 11:55

please don't blame mental health for this, until there is evidence of actual MH issues. It's equally likely he was just a woman-hating, murderous psychopath. It gives MH issues a bad name.

blondieminx · 07/02/2023 11:55

lifeturnsonadime · 07/02/2023 11:44

This with bells on.

I know it’s horrific to face what is happening but we have to understand minimising it makes it all SO much worse.

My heart breaks for Emma & Lettie and all those who knew them.

it’s not an “isolated incident” it’s the VAWG epidemic. Two women a week. Counting Dead Women

Highdaysandholidays1 · 07/02/2023 11:55

How dare he? She was fabulous, the little girl the same. I don't have words really for what I think of him.
