Most daftly overpriced thing you've seen lately?

I've really fancied trying these Bueno eggs, finally saw them in Tesco and nearly collapsed in shock at the price. £2.75!! For a few tiny little eggs. I think not. The delights of the Bueno egg will remain a mystery to me.

What have you seen lately that's ridiculously overpriced? I know everything but maybe like the little treats you might have bought that are now so out of budget that you won't buy them even if you can afford too.

Weetabix £2 for 12 in Sainsbury!

I cannot believe the price of weetabix and cereals now

Ozgirl75 · 21/03/2023 20:10

Agree! I paid £2.70 for Alpen. I’ve moved over to Sainsbury’s own brand and it’s not that nice but it’s only cereal.

Whatthetrolley · 21/03/2023 20:52

Frozen sweetcorn is definitely the way to go. I used to buy cans, use half, put the rest in the fridge and then bin it 2 weeks later when it had grown a layer of fur!!!

Now I just heat what I need and no waste (unless you count! the kids pushing it around their plate and trying their best not to eat it!)

I’m amazed that 8 stamps cost me £7+ ..

Ineedwinenow · 21/03/2023 23:41

If anyone has a Costco card, Heinz soup (24 can pack ) is about £18.00 at the mo, so it works out at around 70p per can ( well it did when I last went about 2 weeks ago) and their other products are fairly stable too! Yes you really have to really like tomato soup and storage 😆 or share it but it’s definitely better than £1.50 plus I’m supermarkets!

My local Costco is Derby so if anyone does want to go to Costco who doesn’t have a card, PM me and I’m more than happy to meet anyone there in the car park and get you in as my guest!

I’m honestly shocked at the prices in supermarkets now so I will help anyone with Costco where I can

Oh and i believe their 1kg Lurpack is at the £6-7 mark which is great knowing a 750g is about that price in regular supermarkets

If they're first class, they'll be £8.80 from next month.

Oooh @Harmonypus that sounds like a useful app! Might I ask what it is called please?

Harmonypus · 06/04/2023 06:27

@AllTheChaos

I use Zipzero, they pay you 0.5% of the value of each receipt you scan, but you have to match your earnings with earnings from their online partnered companies.

Even if you never manage to withdraw anything, it's still a useful way to keep copies of your receipts.

I've also found that most stores accept these scanned versions of receipts if I've ever had to return anything for refund or replacement.

AllTheChaos · 06/04/2023 12:45

Thanks, @Harmonypus, I definitely need something to help me keep track of receipts and this sounds perfect.

£6.25 for a tube of Colgate Total toothpaste. Ridiculous

FallonofDynasty · 08/04/2023 20:49

£6 for M and S Easter egg. Dh claims that Easter eggs have always been this much .. ?

beguilingeyes · 09/04/2023 09:17

And M&S Easter Eggs are a bit rubbish these days, IMO, they used to be epic. Not even any bubbly bunnies this year.
