I've really fancied trying these Bueno eggs, finally saw them in Tesco and nearly collapsed in shock at the price. £2.75!! For a few tiny little eggs. I think not. The delights of the Bueno egg will remain a mystery to me.

What have you seen lately that's ridiculously overpriced? I know everything but maybe like the little treats you might have bought that are now so out of budget that you won't buy them even if you can afford too.

😳

Sparkleshine21 · 17/02/2023 10:04

Small kids Easter eggs are 0.75 in Morrisons atm, less than lidl or aldi even! Get stocked up 😁

Mamalamadrama · 17/02/2023 11:58

Tesco sweets like packs of buttons or fizzy laces etc. Used to be 3 for £1. Today one pack was 70p 🫤

I personally think Easter eggs are a waste of money. Would rather buy a bar if chocolate.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 17/02/2023 12:59

Easter eggs taste different from chocolate bars, though - why is that?!

Sparkleshine21 · 17/02/2023 13:01

@Mamalamadrama good for you...maybe comment that on all the previous comments regarding expensive Easter eggs too?

but for those of you who do want to buy your child an egg for Easter without spending a fortune, they are less than a pound in Morrisons atm 😁

@SlightlyJaded - if you still fancy fish fingers, grab the Co-op's new £6 Freezer Filler deal: you get a pack of 8 Birds Eye fish fingers, a pack of 2 Birds Eye battered extra-large fish fillets, a 375g bag of Birds Eye peas, a 750g bag of McCain Naked oven chips, and a 480ml tub of Dairy Milk ice cream. All that for £6 and you'll still have 50p change to splurge on a Freddo! Grin

this is too true. its one of the great mysteries of the world.
i dont think we should question it though.
its too good to try and work out the pleasure you get for an egg over the equivalent in a bar. just enjoy the moments😋

I have stopped buying pretty much everything now other than vegetables and a few vital things. I stock up on some stuff in bulk at Costco as prices on those seem to be still stable (coffee beans)

We are vegan so luckily things like dried beans and lentils have not YET increased dramatically . I just have to spend a lot of time planning and cooking. I used to favour Lidl as it was cheaper but as posted upthread their prices aren't quite as competitive as before. I now go to Sainsburys too and they do have quite a lot of fruit and veggies on offer. So I get the items that are a good price - my list is generally what I'd like to buy - not necessarily what I am prepared to spend too much on.

It's crazy and I mostly wander round muttering, picking things up and putting them back on the shelf.

I am sure I'm not the only one.

My neighbours elderly I've just popped round to see are losing weight due to the cost of food. Welsh government would shout success obesity coming down. I'm not sure

@Cherrysoup I see your 50p apple and raise you our local shop....60p apple 😱

LubaLuca · 19/02/2023 17:07

£3.50 for half a Diet Coke in a local pub under new management. It's £4 for a pint of ale.

ArianahX · 19/02/2023 17:12

I see your 60p apple and I raise you £2 for one, yes, one tin of Heinz ravioli, or rather bonkers, £6 for 5 tins. It's one of my go tos for lunch at work so I caved. I also spied 7 massive apples for £2 so snaffled those. They're so huge I only managed half of one after lunch!

Bassetlover · 19/02/2023 18:15

Six cans of dog food for £9 in Asda!!!!!

WetLettuce2 · 19/02/2023 21:52

McDonald’s dips were always 20p - recently went up to 40p - double!
I went last night and they’re now 50p.

Im going to keep a bottle of garlic mayo in my car from now on.

I wish I knew when all these price increases were going to stop it drives me mad. Will they ever go down again or will all the supermarkets be rubbing their greasy palms together in glee. Will their profits rise alongside the energy companies?
A head of broccoli cost me £1.20, not organic either. I'm going to consider looking at frozen veg as an option now.

Driving me nuts too. Every week they have added 20p to things sometimes more.

I have noticed the enormous price increases in charity shops too. Totally ridiculous, people won't be able to afford them and the shops will go down the toilet. I spoke to a charity shop manager about it, and she said that people weren't donating as much (selling it online), and what they did get donated now was poorer quality. I said that's no justification for the price hikes. She replied that they were paying extra for rates/fuel etc. etc. It's the same story everywhere now. I think we will see the end of charity shops. People just won't give stuff away anymore because they can' afford new clothes. This country is on its knees. And there's ANOTHER fuel hike coming up in April.

I was looking for a basic T shirt type top and because the only shop near to me is Primark I looked on line to see what was available in the shops at the shopping centre about 15 miles away. Cefinn has one for £95. so I have decided to 'make do' with my faded ones.

justasking111 · 20/02/2023 15:54
