I've really fancied trying these Bueno eggs, finally saw them in Tesco and nearly collapsed in shock at the price. £2.75!! For a few tiny little eggs. I think not. The delights of the Bueno egg will remain a mystery to me.

What have you seen lately that's ridiculously overpriced? I know everything but maybe like the little treats you might have bought that are now so out of budget that you won't buy them even if you can afford too.

My daughter is autistic and will only eat the Heinz variations of tinned food, so tomato soup, pasta shapes and bolognese 😩 she is home schooled so has these as easy lunches, easily amounts to £10 per week just on Heinz.

Genius gluten free bread. £4.50 and its not even half the size of a normal loaf.

Yay for coeliacs 🙄

No sodding way Shock

A jar of Marmite for £3.35 !

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 01/02/2023 22:51

We saw this in Tesco today and were shocked, hence taking the photo!!

To be fair, though, even when they are put on the right shelf, chocolate oranges are daftly overpriced for most of the year, except in the run-up to Christmas, when they're £1, which seems about fair. Same with Schloer.

All GF food really. Its really bloody crap to be penalised for having health issues 😕

DoubleShotEspresso · 01/02/2023 23:12

£7.50 for a tiny ready meal of.... wait for it.....
Macaroni cheese!

In co-op I was so shocked I took a picture - it's not something I'd buy tbh but knew this was insane

transformandriseup · 01/02/2023 23:15

Bought a fruit shoot from a soft play centre and only saw the price when it came up on my phone - £2.30.

EconomyClassRockstar · 01/02/2023 23:16

I was literally just googling sweatshirts and the fugliest Gucci sweatshirt popped up, styled on the most unattractive model and it was $1600. I was like, "Who TF would pay that for THAT?!"

ReallyShouldBeDoingSomethingElse · 01/02/2023 23:20

A bloke selling a second hand unit of 'tool drawers' for £50 which are actually a discontinued item from Ikea which I've had since 2010. Even their current version of metal drawers come in at only £45 new...

Mirabai · 01/02/2023 23:20

£9 for some Ossau Iraty cheese.

Had a bit of a chuckle about Paperchase earlier in the week - few years ago they allowed themselves to be bullied by left wing fascists like Owen Jones into withdrawing advertising from the DM (and I have no real regard for that particular rag)

As the saying goes "go woke, go broke"

Must it always come back to this. Yawn.

Small jar (230g) of Bisto Best. £4 in Tesco yesterday! Unbelievable!

I noticed this, used to pay £2 in Waitrose when on offer & bulk buy = normal price everywhere else. See it's £2.50 in Co-op at the moment and £3 in Iceland (if you buy on a Tuesday and are over 60 you get it for £2.70)

Mum97540 · 01/02/2023 23:24

Yes Pizza Hut takeaway order has gone up this week. We looked at it and bought somewhere else instead. Sad really. But what was £22 has suddenly gone up to £33 for 3'of us.

twoandcooplease · 01/02/2023 23:25

@MeinKraft I bought (what I thought was) a Kinderegg Surprise
It was an egg split in half, one side a shitty toy and the other side was 2 of those wee balls sitting on top of melted Kinderegg chocolate. If you need really like them and need a fix I think these are cheaper than getting a box of them on their own

twoandcooplease · 01/02/2023 23:25

Ah wait no, they're not the same thing ignore me!

Fellsbluemist · 01/02/2023 22:41

At least marmite lasts a long time. I was stopped in my tracks recently by the £1.70 Heinz tomato soup a pp mentioned A tin of soup! No longer a cheap quick lunch.

If you buy the 4 pack it's only about £1 per can, or £2.50 for a 4 pack in Poundland www.poundland.co.uk/156783-4pk-heinz-cream-of-tomato-soup/ Works out at 63p/can

BrightBlueFlamingo · 01/02/2023 23:30

Aldi 'marmite' tastes just as good, trust me, massive marmite fan!!😊

Ineedwinenow · 01/02/2023 23:31

In a local independent restaurant/bistro type place, it’s now £12.75 for a plain jacket spud! No fillings ( they were an extra £1.50 upwards depending) I was shocked! I understand business have been totally screwed over regarding utilities and cost of living for everyone is going up but nearly 13.00 for the boring version of a jacket is pushing it a bit! I didn’t study it so I hope for that price you get Lurpack butter 😆

TheMindfulMum · 01/02/2023 23:33

A hostel in Dublin 😳 Looking for a friend and I as a possible girly vacation. I thought it was the price for 3 nights in a double room. Nope... It was quoting me the price PER night - £295!! For a hostel! Nearly £900 for 3 nights in a hostel?! The world's gone mad.

Weegie91 · 01/02/2023 23:33

Cat food. 12 tins is nearly a tenner for Asda branded wet food now. WTAF.

NC0223 · 01/02/2023 23:37

FayKnights · 01/02/2023 22:36

Marmite!! Bloody marmite £4!!!!

I'm very grateful to my dad - when there was a marmite shortage over covid he made it a mission to get some (he likes a job to do!)
He turned up with 12 jars of the marmite XO so I think I'm ok for life now Grin

happynewyear55 · 01/02/2023 23:40

Pizzas in average Italian chain resturant.... £16!

overthink4r · 01/02/2023 23:42

My part time job is to do the label increase price swaps in a well known supermarket, the increases are now very rarely 5-10 p like when I first started, it's now jumping up 50p to £1.50 per item. What's scarier is I've had the job since December 2022. Breaks my heart when it's on infant formula and pet food. Defenceless being reprieved further.
