Continuation of previous lifeboat threads 1 & 2 & 3.

Gather here all ye refugees from the JTT Flat Earth Society, welcome to the reassuringly oblate spheroid of MN! Ye all already know the answers to the questions "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

So really we're all here just to chat randomly.

"fascionating," chiz.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 23/01/2023 18:01

Livestock as in domesticated? So not deer plus ticks plus other things?

Tricyrtis2022 · 23/01/2023 18:03

That's a very sweet looking dog upthread.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 23/01/2023 18:08

That is Badger and he looks adorable. Just the right balance between Good Dog and will of his own.

Kucinghitam · 23/01/2023 18:36

Badger is a Very Good Boy!

I’m eating my dinner in the airport, waiting to board my flight home. It’s the first time in years that I’ve gone away without DH and DC. I keep looking around in a panic, thinking I’ve forgotten something.

Yes, I’m mainly focusing on cattle. Big reservoirs for infectious diseases.

Tricyrtis2022 · 23/01/2023 18:43

Hello Badger, you little sweetie!

Safe trip, Kuc!

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 23/01/2023 18:53

Big reservoirs for infectious diseases. and they break in and eat your broccoli.

why yes, I am bitter.

Bon Voyage Kuc

Madamedefargelikescrows · 23/01/2023 19:22

Badger is a beautiful boy.

You'll come up with something, @CyanCrystalViolet . These things can't be hurried although the one you're thinking about sounds interesting to my ignorant mind.

BSL is coming along. I was making Mel look at me doing it yesterday. Today is £3.50 day at the cinema so we went to see Empire of Light. I wasn't at all keen on seeing it because I thought it looked a bit humdrum. I'm glad I did, it was a beautiful film and very moving. Also funny in all the right places.

Winterborne74 · 23/01/2023 19:29

waiting to board my flight home.

Been anywhere exciting? I’m very envious, as I’ve neither been away by myself nor flown anywhere since children (9 years!)

Badger looks like a lot of fun.

Kucinghitam · 23/01/2023 19:41

Been anywhere exciting?

Ah, I’m going outbound - home to Malaysia 🥰 for a couple of weeks.

Hope you have a wonderful trip and put the cold and grey behind you for a bit.

MadameDefargeinme · 23/01/2023 20:00

I hope you have a lovely time Kuc. I am also going "home" to the UK for a month mid-Feb to mid-March to see my older son and my daughter. My older son is autistic but lives alone and works as a builder's labourer. However he is permanently broke, which for the last few years has been costing me £1000 a month to make sure his rent is paid, council tax paid, TV licence paid etc, and the idea is for me to stay with him and do some adulting lessons in the hope of getting him to pick up some of that load himself.

BinkerTell · 23/01/2023 21:02

Evening all. Have been absent for a while as I've been quite unwell. Hope everyone is doing ok and making it through this cold January ok.

I have very much enjoyed the pet pics. Finally, after 16 years, Tinks has turned into a lap cat!

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 23/01/2023 21:03

Gorgeous Tinks.

I hope you're feeling better now, Binker.

MadameDefargeinme · 23/01/2023 21:06

Aww that's lovely Tinks. Skittles took 12 years to consent to sit on my lap. Sometimes we just have to be patient...

Winterborne74 · 23/01/2023 21:07

Sorry you’re feeling unwell. You were one of a few absences I’ve noticed (where is @themostbeautifuldogintheworld for example, or have I missed another name change?) but I’m never sure of the etiquette- don’t want to do a roll call as some people just won’t feel like posting.

Tinks looks very cosy there.

CyanCrystalViolet · 23/01/2023 21:13

Aww sweet tinks ❤️

Had been wondering where you’d got to @BinkerTell. Have they got any treatment sorted for your migraines yet?

BinkerTell · 23/01/2023 21:17

My migraines have become chronic so I've been in pain a lot of the time and I've had to find a way of taking some time off work which is really tough when you are the co-founder of a business and run all of the client projects. My mental health has taken a dive but I have found a solution and finally have an appointment with the top migraine specialist in London in February.

BinkerTell · 23/01/2023 21:20

And thanks @CyanCrystalViolet and @Winterborne74, it's nice to know that I'd been missed. I've been feeling very isolated as my life has reduced so much since October last year.

bignosebignose · 23/01/2023 22:07

Safe journey Kuc, hope you have a great time.

CyanCrystalViolet · 23/01/2023 22:41

Really glad you’ve found a solution now @BinkerTell and have the appointment with the top specialist, but sorry your MH has taken a dive, completely understandable. Plus migraines messing with mood in general. I was going to @ you but I didn’t want you to feel like you had to reply if you were feeling rubbish. Chronic stuff can feel so isolating, I know I don’t always feel able to communicate a flare-up to friends as I worry they get sick of hearing about it even though it’s probably not true!

I caved and made a private appointment with a PCOS specialist to hopefully access some treatment and also to get some answers to my questions. It was after another shitty experience with the same nurse who pissed me off before. I went for a smear, tried to explain how painful they are for me because of the endometriosis and she interrupted to tell me ‘endometriosis is on the inside, the smear is on the outside so it shouldn’t hurt’ 🙄 OK then.

@Kucinghitam sounds wonderful, enjoy!

MmePoppySeedDefage · 23/01/2023 22:48

I just popped back into That Place to read the Happy Valley thread, which had 75 nice short posts that brought it all together for me, as MrPSB had watched Eps 1&2 without me. The bastard.

Anyway I also popped into the Feminism thread, and learned to my surprise that this is a Thread of Hate and Indoctrination. I'd blinked and missed that. I thought it was all cute cats and dogs, but Hatred lurks in strange places.

SinnerBoy · 23/01/2023 23:24

I hope you can find a cure, Binker, or a least a liveable solution. I used to get migraines as a child, but only 2 since about 18 years old. Total sympathy.

helenskywalker · 23/01/2023 23:35

I've gone back 3 months on the feminism thread (well before this thread existed) and can't find any such mention/implication - what are you talking about, PSB?
