Do you let your dog sleep on your bed? I just imagine this is the most cosy feeling ever

I do not have a dog but thinking of getting one

Do you enjoy being body slammed by a hairy hippo at 3am or waking up to a bumhole about three inches from your face?

If the answer is no to the above you wouldn’t like sharing a bed with a dog!

theswoot · 30/12/2022 08:00

I don’t. I have a greyhound and he’s a bag of elbows and takes up so much room!

lifeinthehills · 30/12/2022 08:01

I love sharing with my dog. It is cosy.

Dog is curled up on the end of my bed now. All warm and cuddly. Love it. Best of luck OP.

Greydogs123 · 30/12/2022 08:03

No, I think it’s gross. Dogs don’t have squeaky clean feet, plus dog hair and random incessant licking at 3 in the morning. I find it Hard to even share a room with our dog due to the licking and fidgeting.

romdowa · 30/12/2022 08:03

Nope. No dog in beds here, I'd get even less rest than I do now.

Tintackedsea · 30/12/2022 08:04

His head is resting on my foot right now!

I know it's not hygienic but he's so lovely and snuggly.

Poppins2016 · 30/12/2022 08:05

I don't have a dog, although I've shared my bed with one occasionally. I do have cats and was 'certain' they'd never sleep on the bed (or even go in the bedroom), but, of course, they do (with an enforced "not on the pillows" rule, so they generally sleep at the end of the bed by my feet or occasionally at waist height).

It's lovely, it's cosy, I enjoy it... but it can also be annoying in the same way that sharing a bed with a human companion is. Not being able to stretch out exactly as you want to or move the duvet so that it's 'just right', etc.

Ndd135632 · 30/12/2022 08:05

judging by the replies it then probably depends which breed of dog you get. Mine isn’t licky, fiddly and is a non hair shedder. He also has zero smell. Plus is small. However can understand if your dog is more fidgety or smells or sheds hair etc.

AWaferThinMint · 30/12/2022 08:06

Nope. Mine stays downstairs and isn't allowed upstairs at all! But he's big and ridiculous and likes to raid bins and generally be an arse. He also farts out toxic gas as he has stomach issues. He needs to be contained 🤣

yourjustnotfunny · 30/12/2022 08:07

Puppy gets a duvet on the sofa, old dog he's cosy at the end of the bed on his blanket.

TedMullins · 30/12/2022 08:07

Yes, and I’ve got two. The chihuahua is a silent sleeper and likes to snuggle up to me which is great when it’s cold, less great for when I want to move positions in the night and have to navigate around him so I don’t squash him. The pug, well, I’ve made a rod for my own back with him. He’s fine at the end of the bed til about 4am when he starts slurping and licking and wanting food. Any future dogs will definitely be trained to sleep in another room!

SnuggleBuggleBoo · 30/12/2022 08:07

It starts off ok with them curled into a neat ball. Then during the night they expand like a bath sponge placed in water, into you find yourself clinging to the edge of the mattress for fear you'll fall out!

Mine too. I barely notice them.

BumbleShyBee · 30/12/2022 08:08

She only sleeps on the bed when DH is away. But she tucks right into me, it's so lovely. Downsides: she can snore loudly and the farting is noxious. Worth it though 😉

Amipreg1 · 30/12/2022 08:08

Ours sleeps in our bed if she wants to. She stays down the bottom end mainly, resting her head on our legs usually.
She's only little but at times it can still feel like there's a bag of spuds on the bed if she on top of the duvet! Wouldn't have it any other way though.

W0tnow · 30/12/2022 08:09

Dogs talk in their sleep. Fact.

Dogs talk in their sleep. Fact.

Those sleep woofs are so cute.

LBF2020 · 30/12/2022 08:11

We have a 30kg golden retriever that occasionally slips in the bed in the early hours. He's like a contortionist, he fits in the smallest gap and isn't very noticeable at all, despite the fact I have a very large DH and only a standard double bed 🤷‍♀️

Stellaris22 · 30/12/2022 08:11

Our basset is only allowed in our bed in winter for warmth, it's lovely. She insists on being under the duvet too!

Dozycuntlaters · 30/12/2022 08:13

My girl is the best bed companion ever. She does fart though but then do did my ex but on the plus side she doesn't snore, pester me for sex or piss me off 😂

HarvestThyme · 30/12/2022 08:14

W0tnow · 30/12/2022 08:09

Dogs talk in their sleep. Fact.

They also run in their sleep. And fight off imaginary intruders. And twist themselves into pretzels, then sprawl.

Ours have their own beds, nice and snuggly. Mine is for me and dh only.

HappyKoala56 · 30/12/2022 08:14

Mine is allowed on the bed - she's by my feet now. However at night time once I turn off the light and lay down she takes about 1 minute and then she'll go and get on her own bed. Probably for the best, she is a German shepherd so takes up about a quarter of the bed on her own

rakingitover · 30/12/2022 08:16

No. I've tried it. I also thought it would be cute and cosy. It wasn't.
Pacing around. Sitting on my head!!! Kicking me. Licking and biting himself at random times in the night. Snoring so loud next to my face.
They're just very noisy. And move about a lot.
Also bed is then also covered in hairs.
Mine is a cocker spaniel. He's absolutely gorgeous. But we do not sleep in my bed together.

Stellaris22 · 30/12/2022 08:16

Sleep woofs and dream running is the best, we joke that even in dreams she can't catch a squirrel.
