My girl in bed with me last night. She snores, dreams and chases rabbits in her sleep. I can’t stand human snoring but adore hers. I’m currently ill with flu and she hasn’t left my side. She’s slept with my every night since I got her.

Hellohah · 30/12/2022 10:25

I let him sleep with me occasionally.
Last night I had the dog and the cat.
The dog on his own is great, especially during the cold spells.
The cat on her own is obviously no bother as she's tiny.
Together ... nightmare. The dog is still only 11 months, couldn't decide whether he wanted to be with me or the cat. Kept waking me up moving from the top of the bed (me) to the bottom of the bed (cat). Then he got excited when the cat sort of cuddled him, this pissed the cat off. She hissed at him. He got upset as she hasn't hissed at him for a while. So he came whining to me, but couldn't settle.
I am knackered this morning, never again.

My dog's a big lad at 26 kilos and quite still unless a possum gallops across the roof. I have a huge bed and he keeps to one side. The duvet is covered with throw, washed weekly.

i was adamant I wouldn’t let my dog on the bed but it happened! This happened when he got the snip and was really crying in the night and wanted to comfort him. He’s a whippet so he hardly sheds and gets cold. He does have long legs which is annoying as can spread out and take up room on the bed he does sometimes sit on my legs or go round in circles trying to squeeze into gaps between us. He is very loving though and does like the company . I wish with hindsight I kept him sleeping on the sofa but too late now. Compared to my son who sneaks in our bed every bloody night and kicks us and take up half the bed he’s a dream!

Helenloveslee4eva · 30/12/2022 10:44

Our cavvie is pretty cuddly in the bed at night. He also likes to sleep in your skin so gets closer and closer and shoves you out of bed 😂
he is , however , small and bathed every flipping day whilst it’s muddy etc

countrypunk · 30/12/2022 10:45

Not at night but she comes up for a snooze in the morning. She is a tiny mini dachshund though so she doesn't take up much room.

RestingMurderousFace · 30/12/2022 10:49

My big boy likes to be little spoon, completely submerged under the duvet. He’s next to me right now while I Mumsnet and yes, it’s the cosiest feeling in the world.

No, not allowed in bedroom at all, I want one room of sanity that isn't covered in dog hair, slobber etc. I love them but they are utterly grim and snore ridiculously loud so they can keep to their own beds!

wheresmymojo · 30/12/2022 19:06

HappyKoala56 · 30/12/2022 08:14

Mine is allowed on the bed - she's by my feet now. However at night time once I turn off the light and lay down she takes about 1 minute and then she'll go and get on her own bed. Probably for the best, she is a German shepherd so takes up about a quarter of the bed on her own

Our GSD also does this...she likes a snuggle while the lights are on and then will go down to the bottom and curl up in a ball between my legs and DH's legs.

About 10-15 mins after lights out she slopes off the end of the bed onto her own bed which is on the floor at the foot of the bed and unless it's very cold she stays there until the alarm goes off - then she jumps back up for cuddles and snoozing while I have coffee in bed.

Grim

BoxerMam · 30/12/2022 19:16

I have three boxers who sleep in my bed and it's not great 😂
They take up all the space, one likes to be under the covers and the other two on top. When one gets up in the night to do that weird circle trampling thing that dogs do, they all start doing it. I also usually wake up to find at least one of them has rested their head on my head or face, which means I have slimy wet jowls on my face.
They make weird puffing sounds when they puff air through their lips in their sleep, they also snore very very loudly.
I love them though, and wouldn't change a thing really

Gingerlygreen · 30/12/2022 19:24

I've got a long haired German Shepherd who is like a real life teddy bear, she gets into bed and lies with her back to me and her head next to my face so I cuddle up to her and sniff her fuzzy ears, she's a beautiful lump.

After about 20 minutes she goes and lies on the landing until dh gets up for work at 5 then she gets back in with me.

Cherrysoup · 30/12/2022 19:40

Got up at 6 to feed them, then let them up at 8 for snuggles. They were silent and settled immediately. Such good boys! They aren’t very cuddly, the big dog is, but he’s deaf and didn’t know everyone was upstairs.

SuperHandss · 30/12/2022 19:42

Yes and I love it! He’s quite old though and barely budges all night. He also has his own blanket that sits on my bedspread. In the morning he’ll wander up the bed for a cuddle.

He’s also incredibly warm!

charabang · 30/12/2022 19:47

I have a 7lb mini dach and she takes up as much room as a hairy arsed man under my covers. My advice, don't let em in the bedroom cos they always end up in the bed.

TribeD · 30/12/2022 19:50

DDog sleeps in his crate, but will come and snuggle on the bed in the morning.

Weekend mornings get quite crowded, DD, DDog, DH and I all like a lazy Sunday morning chatting in bed with a cuppa.

Agreed! (although maybe not so much on the farting).
Snuggling with my greyhound on a cold night is the best thing ever.

Your comment about having a tail that covers their arsehole made me laugh. I am not a fan of dog breeds that display their ring piece like it is a target.

MeinKraft · 30/12/2022 20:06

I used to have a little old pug who would crawl in behind my legs, snuggle up and snore there for hours. It was cosy heaven. The bed wasn't very clean though, I might as well have just gone and slept in the dogs bed.

RambamThankyouMam · 30/12/2022 20:46

A cat has the same effect, only nicer and less smelly.

stargirl1701 · 30/12/2022 20:49

No. The dog is not allowed upstairs. She sleeps in the kitchen.

Shoecleaner · 30/12/2022 20:52

Absolutely not, for several reasons including he is 10st🤣

SueVineer · 30/12/2022 20:53

Yes and it’s great except when she gets me up (whenever it suits her).

Mollymalone123 · 30/12/2022 20:57

Every night my sheltie waits until I’m comfy and gently puts his head on my foot then sleeps through til morning.he saw me through my worst days of chemo went I stayed in bed-he stayed too. It’s very soothing having him there. When the grandchildren stay over they love it if he ‘chooses’ to sleep on their bed.
